If you ever visited the "Land of Make-Believe" with Mister Rogers, you will be very familiar with these vintage style puppets. My four and eight-year old recently enjoyed a weekend original feature which was a mash up several different fairy tales. As an adult, I found it to be a bit corny but the show was perfect for my littles who stayed engaged for nearly the entirety of the one-hour show. Floor seating is available which is perfect for young families with children who cannot stay still. They have a fun house mirror in the lobby and after the show there was a puppet meet and greet. Overall it was good family fun for a hot summer afternoon. It's proximity to the Glen Echo carousel, playground, and aquarium made it feel like a full day affair!

I enjoyed their teachers, but my kids just didn't get into the program, which was very very surprising. 5 and 12, and tragically bored and unentertained, apparently. The art was good, but just not their type of camp, they weren't having fun. Not to mention the rude interaction with the director. Not for us.

When our daughters were younger it was a go to place for them and their friends. But the girls got older and their interest declined. I'm not sure what motivated my daughter want to go back but I'm glad we did. We went yesterday one day before Father's Day. My daughter chose this day because we went on Father's Day years ago and it was extremely crowded. Good plan. Not too crowded. Great weather too. Our experience we great. The staff was terrific. One downside. I'm 8 years older and I noticed it. So, if you are thinking about visiting don't delay because as the song says: Time Waits for No One.

We were very high up in those trees! The great thing though is that they have courses for all different types of thrill seekers - if you want to stay low to ground or just zip line, they have courses for that. If you want to physically challenge yourself or you like heights - they have courses for that as well. Safety wasn't a concern as there is an orientation video and then a practice course on the ground so you can repeatedly go through the process of locking on to a line and moving from line to line. I mean my niece did the practice course once and was off into the trees with out issue. There is a nice picnic area with tables so you could easily pack a lunch or snacks and make a day of it. My first lesson was no pressure and I felt like I made a lot of progress. BTW, this is not Viennesse waltzing, which is a formalized style of waltzing. The kind of waltzing taught here is more of a "garden variety", and done by cultures all over the world. It's a 3-step candance (slow, quick quick), and anyone can do it, seriously. It might be the best $13 that I ever spent. That's the cost of admission, which includes a 45 minute lesson, followed by nearly 3 hours of dance time with a live band. The Spanish Ballroom, where the social dances are held, is a premier venue. The building itself is Art Deco architecture and considered to be one of the best ballrooms of its kind on the East Coast. The interior is decorated tastefully and lighted well. The expansive floor is made of a lovely maple wood. The live music is such a treat as the acoustics here are top notch. The social dances are a lot of fun, and waltzing isn't the only style offered--there's contra dancing; tango dancing; swing dancing; blues dancing, etc. The social dance calendar is quite extensive. High quality teachers who are passionate about their job and truly love the kids. It shows when you see their interactions, their demeanor, the conversations you have with them about your child. I think I cry every time my child has to move up classes because I get so attached to them emotionally. I'm leaving my most valuable possession in their hands which isn't supposed to be an easy thing to do but they make it so easy. My child is very shy, cries a lot, and has a hard time adjusting to new faces or environment. If you also have a child like this then you need to make sure they are in the care of very patient caregivers who have compassion for children. This is the right place for you. Since the pandemic, they have taken great precautions and implemented many protocols to keep it a safe environment. Masks, temperatures at the door, lot of hand washing for the kids, and lots of cleaning in classrooms. Now that parents aren't allowed to enter the building they have also implemented live cameras where parents can log in and watch to have the peace of mind. They also have a wonderful app where things get logged and updated about your child and you can keep in touch with the teachers throughout the day. Lastly, the director at this center is truly unbelievable! Not only is she always on top of everything but she is so kind and understanding when it comes to anything and everything about my child. So I am tweaking the curve:) My daughter was a little over 11mos when we began. I always feared sending my DD to daycare because i was afraid she would get sick and that she would not get the love and attention she needs to grow. The folks at Childtime put those fears at rest. I talk to parents at other daycares, and i am grateful for where we are. Admittedly, the initial transition was hard. My DD was previously sheltered by nannies, with zero immune system, and so she did promptly get sick. She did have separation anxiety. This is a common issue with allllll daycares and not at all unique to Childtime. What I love about Childtime is the staff -- I could not feel more comfortable leaving my child with them. They are smiling caring people. I see babies as young as 12 weeks get all the hugs and attention they need. I like that they encourage structure and development -- unlike the parent below, I like that they encouraged concrete nap time and my DD's physical development. They were not rude about it, and gave her a good mix of independence and attention. They were completely fine with me bringing in my own food, limiting what my DD eats, and tracking her progress. They remembered her dietary restrictions when even i forgot them. To each his own I suppose. But if i found Childtime earlier, i would have had no hesitation, hands-down, about bringing my child there over a private nanny anytime.
