I eventually parked a half-hour later and we got inside. The restaurant is small, but quaint. Kira, our server, made numerous recommendations, which we followed. The service was really awesome. after we were eating and having drinks, a couple came in and the woman had incredibly strong smelling perfume on - just totally overpowered the whole end of the restaurant where we were sitting. The servers kindly moved us to a table on the far side of the room. That was really helpful. The food was ok. Creative dishes, but they were a bit bland generally speaking. The squash salad is a fabulous idea for a fresh salad that is different - but if they'd added some olive oil & lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt, it would have been great. It was a bit dry and not well dressed. Octopus salad was the same - I really wanted to like it, and I took half home (just because I was full) when I added olive oil and lemon juice and Salt & pepper, it was great. The meatballs were pretty flavorful. It's called a Wine Bar, but there was not a big selection of wines by the glass. Part of what makes a wine bar fun, is having a lot of choices, and perhaps a flight or two. They did have a few unusual wines. But there are so many wine bars (or restaurants with really good wine programs), you're going to have to expand your selection a bit to compete. read more

Made a reservation at 6:30 on a Sunday. The parking lot was full so we street parked the next street over and there was plenty of parking. We got offered still or sparkling when we sat down. We ordered orange wine, orange soda, and three food dishes. They had a $25 burger and wine deal, but decided to try the other foods instead. The wine was excellent especially for someone who is not a huge drinker. We got the pretzel which was good but not incredible. I'm not sure why they had the spring 2025 menu underneath it. Then we got the squash salad which was super refreshing. Our server told us the orange soda got lost so it came out a bit later. But when it did, there was a bug in it! We told our server and they brought us a new one 10 minutes later but it seemed like there was less and they filled up the cup with a ton of ice. We got the meatballs which was delicious and filled us up. Afterwards, we paid for our meal which was around 85 with tip. The only odd thing was that there was no interaction at the end, just left our card and bill at the table without saying a word. The highlights of the meal were the duck breast and the pissaladière (puff pastry with anchovies). The duck was tender and flavorful, and the pissaladière was a standout. Who knew anchovies on pastry could be that good? We ended with the ricotta cake with poached pears, which was light and not overly sweet. It reminded me more of European or Asian cheesecake than the dense, sugary American style. The ambiance is chic and thoughtful, with great use of color. Loved the details, from the tiles to the furniture to the typography. Service was excellent, and it felt like the founding team was actively running the place. I might be a little biased because I'm European. Also, they happened to be playing a film set in the same countryside region of France I'm from when I walked in, which tugged at my heartstrings. I had such a lovely experience at this charming little wine bar. It's perfectly cozy, stylish without being pretentious, and charmingly nostalgic with old black-and-white films flickering in the background. They have a small menu with various offerings of wine and cocktails, light bites, small plates, and dessert. They can recommend pairings if needed. The wine was great (had the tempranillo), and the sourdough and butter were excellent. I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of their actual dishes next time. Dare I say... the best opening of 2024. To be honest, it's not even a close race in my eyes. I feel lucky to live in Phoenix while we're getting to experience service and quality to a Michelin level without the pretension or California prices. It's not cheap here, but it's worth it. This is my new go-to fancy spot. Service is amazing, with tastes available for all by-the-glass wines. Staff are personable and knowledgeable about the wines without being snooty or making you feel uneducated. They have a wide range of bottles and a smaller (but diverse) selection of wines by the glass. For a wine bar, their food is a stand out. The menu is relatively small and rotates seasonally. I've never had anything less than excellent. We almost always get a crudo, and I love saving room for dessert. It's a great spot for a date or double date, with small plates to share with the table. Their NYE prix fixe was fantastic, with one of my favorite pairings I've had in recent memory. I can't recommend this place more highly for a special occasion (or just celebrating everyday life, if you're bougie like that). read more

The environment is cosy and sophisticated with black and white films playing in the background. I stopped in solo for dinner and left full and happy. At my server's suggestion I had the sweet potatoes to start. The star of this dish was the marinated feta. I could have had a plate of just that covered in the green harissa. The sweet potatoes themselves didn't do much- this dish probably would have been even more delightful if they were replaced by a roasted carrot. Nonetheless, the combination made me clear the plate. Next up was the linguica. The sausage was well spiced and clearly made with care. Here, I took a little issue with the white beans. Restaurants do tend to do beans a bit al dente and I personally want them to be well cooked and creamy. We'll just call this a style preference. In terms of wines I had a lovely Italian white, but wasn't enthusiastic about any of the reds by the glass ( and my terrific server let me try them all!). All this to say, I loved my experience but nothing I had reached the level of sheer delight I want at this price point. I do love this spot and they have a great wine list but my most recent visit was a little annoying. I was raving about this place to my friend so first we were going to meet there for dinner. I do recommend reservations if you do want to go for dinner as it is pretty small. However upon further research on their menu it seemed very limited so my friend and I decided to only get wine and go somewhere else for food. But after a glass we decided to get the carrot dip which I got last time and was very good. This time when it arrived there was a very small amount of limp crudités on the plate and the bartender didn't bring any silverware. Because the crudité was so limp it was even hard to get any of the dip... the point right? Also one of the crudités was a garlic clove... hmmm. Once we got through the crudités there was still dip left. I asked the bartender if we could have a few more crudités for the rest of the dip and she said she would ask the chef. When she returned she said we could get more but there would be a charge. The dip was already $20!!! We declined and asked for a spoon so we could eat the rest of the dip. She mentioned that because it is fresh veggies they have a limited portion.... Still $20 for carrot dip was a bit over the top. So that is very disappointing. Plus the menu... we told the bartender that my friend had a dairy allergy so she presented us with a modified menu which had things underlined and crossed out based on the ingredients. There was the sourdough and clarified butter but because there was no notes like the other items and it wasn't crossed out my friend thought it was dairy free butter but when we asked she said obviously it's clarified butter. Made reservations after seeing this on Tik Tok for 7pm on a Monday, and I'm glad I did! There is a small parking lot, but we had to street park and walk over as it was full. It's a smaller space so I think reservations for sure. Upon walking in loved the atmosphere. Very minimal but colorful decor - very trendy. The space is kind of tight and pretty loud so be prepared to kind of yell. There is a highly coveted lounge area with like a couch in addition to bar, table, and booth seating. The staff was top tier very attentive and knowledgeable. I'm not a big wine person and they walked me through the menu. I ordered Pan Con Tomate with optional Anchovies, a white wine, a kalimoxto, and a spritz. Everything was great . The only downside is the price of the food. The pan con tomate was $10 for essentially 2 pieces of bread which to be fair I really liked. However, I just find it hard to justify that price even if ingredients are quality or locally sourced. You could legit eat both pieces in 2 bites each. Also the tomato in my opinion seemed not that fresh possibly even canned? The bread was top tier though, and the Anchovies were great. What a great experience! We made a reservation for 2 at the bar and were seated promptly. To our delight, the lady running the bar, Courtney, was an acquaintance of ours from another place, and is a great person to be handling things. We started with a Mother Road beer for me and a glass of Piquette for my wife. Perfect! We then split an order of the Oeuf Mayonnaise and focaccia with anchovies followed by a squash risotto and Pork Poivre which were delicious. Our server was also really sweet and helpful. Where it went wrong were the prices for the portions of wine/food that you got. So I will start by saying the food is actually very good, and I was impressed with the taste of the dishes we got. But do NOT come here hungry. First, the glasses of wine are around $17-20, and the pours are literally the size of a tasting. So two glasses of wine equals a real full one. That was disappointing. For food, we ordered the leeks ($18) and mussels ($25). Both were incredible, but the leeks dish was TINY af - and there were only 7 mussels!!! They were very light drinks, couldn't really taste the alcohol. The spritz was the perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and fresh. I normally hate red wine the kalimoxto (Mexican coke and red wine) was really good, kind of tasted like grape juice.
