The older stylist, Andrea (grey hair), was extremely unprofessional. I called ahead because we live about 20 minutes from the salon. The very kind cashier put me on hold to ask Andrea if she could take a walk-in around 3:00 PM. I was told Andrea was available as long as we arrived within the next 20 minutes. When my son and I arrived, the cashier greeted us and said Andrea was finishing up with another client and would be right with us. We sat down in the salon. Andrea clearly saw us come in, yet she did not greet or acknowledge us in any way. Andrea then proceeded to check out the father and son who were before us. During checkout, she asked the father, "Are you from Pakistan?" He replied, "No, from India." Andrea then responded, "People from Pakistan tip $3. We live off our tips." The father said nothing and left. I was shocked by the prejudiced and inappropriate comment. After he left, Andrea continued to ignore me and my son and sat down as if we were not there. I then spoke up and said, "We called ahead to make sure you could fit us in. Are you available?" Andrea responded rudely, "Who said I would take you?" I explained that the cashier had called her and confirmed availability. Andrea then glared at the cashier and replied in a hostile tone, "I don't know why she would tell you that." I told her that if she was unable to take us, that was completely fine. She paused for several seconds and repeated, with the same attitude, that she didn't know why the cashier would say that. At that point, I told her, "I would rather you not cut my baby's hair if you're having a bad day." She responded, "I'm actually in a good mood." Given her behavior, I gathered my things and left. As I was leaving, the cashier asked what happened. I explained that I would not tolerate Andrea's attitude or behavior. This was our fifth visit to Kiddie Salon and, unfortunately, our last. Our usual stylist, Amanda, had quit, and Andrea was the only option available that day. Based on this experience, I can honestly say we will not be returning. read more

My husband had to step in and comfort him, and even stop you from continuing. When I called you to address this, you blamed my son, saying that he turned his head and scared you. But this is a children's haircut salon--working with toddlers means understanding that they move around. If you can't handle that, perhaps you're in the wrong profession. Blaming and scaring a child is completely unacceptable and borders on abuse. You're lucky my husband was there and stayed calm--if I had been present, I would've called the authorities. I would not come here for a child's haircut. The " kids stylist " refused to cut my one year olds hair because he was crying. She didn't even try. And began saying things like "oh I've had bad ones like this before"..... the worse customer service for a child in a KID SALON!!! My kid was not bad, he just cried. I'd like to start off by saying, if your shop opens at 12 then you should not offer hair appointments for that same exact time. Offer it 15 minutes after you open, that gives you time to do all of your opening duties before your client comes in. We showed up 20 minutes before the salon opened, waited in the car another five minutes after 12, the lights were all on at this point, yet the door was still locked, we shook the door and nobody came to it. It was also blocked by a display so whoever was working did not get the salon ready in enough time and chose to make us wait. Then proceeded to send a no-show text message to me. This is a tiny little place in the back of the stride rite. It's overall super cute and very kid friendly with lots of movies and toys for the kids. The actual hair cut was really fast. On time for the appointment, and the stylist was really nice and quick. She was also very nice and patient despite my daughter crying a ton. They had movies playing that really distracted my daughter too. My only complaint is that it's really expensive.. $20 for just a haircut. i might try to do it myself next time. read more

Well it was probably the worst haircut we never received so for that I should be thankful. Made an appointment for back to back appointments for our twin toddlers to have their first haircut after seeing that they were located inside Stride Rite where we had previously purchased shoes, socks, and bows. The ladies who helped us were very helpful so I was surprised when the staff at Kiddoos refused to accommodate us because we were 3 minutes late. "Oh we have a 5 minute grace period," ok we were within 5 minutes so what is your next excuse, 3:36 according to her clock, they would only do one of the twins. Well what was the point. She was either frustrated that there was screaming kiddo in her seat and/or looked at the kids and decided that ethnic hair was too much of a hassle. 1. This is a children's salon, you really think the little people respect time? It took me 5 minutes to get them out of the car. 2. We had plans to stay and purchase shoes, socks, and more bows so really a $40 haircut would have turned into a minimum of $150 purchase, but I guess you all didn't need it. We were in and out at Great Clips, 28$ for two kids and it didn't take more than 15 minutes combined. The way I see it you did us a favor. I am never going to this place again, Maybe they are good for kids 5 and up. But not good for toddlers. First of all super time restrictive, Regarding hair cut experience, I am NEVER going there again, My son was 2 and of course not most of the kids will sit and allow you for hair cut, in 6-8 minutes she was almost done, however that 8 mins my kid cried all the time, He had hair all over him and was not even cleaned once and he was complaining about hair poking him. I was cleaning it my self all the time and still they did not care to clean it even ONE time, and then when the kid is crying she didnt care, she kept on cutting the hair no matter how loud he was crying no breathing space for him. My son was moving his head towards right, she literally just use her strength toward left without caring this can be damaging. My son was having lollipop and all the hair were on the lollipop and I tried to change his lollipop and she still continued cutting the hair without caring and all her again on the new lollipop. Even an adult hair cut takes 20-30 minutes even after us following the instructions how do you expect kids hair cut in 10-15mins. When I told her that she is using her strength and that is not acceptable she started arguing that this is the way I do it, I had to stop her immediately and thank God I had appointment of my other kid as well which I canceled it immediately after the HORRIFIC experience. We were 10 mins late to the appointment. The barber took the customers after us first. Totally fine and makes sense. But she had to give us attitude about us being late and when we decided to stay in the store to wait for our turn, she told us to move from the waiting area we were sitting in and switch with the family that came earlier. My son has been very uncooperative at the barbershop. Last time, we left before the haircut was completed. My child is pretty hyperactive and antsy, more than the average kid. I decided to try a salon catered to kids only. Found this spot from other reviews on yelp and I'm so glad I did. I got lucky on a Saturday at 2pm as a walk in. SHERI was able to take us in right away and she was SO AMAZING. She knew how to interact with my son, kept his attention, and was able to finish the haircut in less than 30 mins. The haircut itself was very good - she was quick and knew what she was doing. I will definitely return as a regular now. Also was warned that Saturdays are super busy and appointment is recommended. We love it here. We have been taking our son for haircuts since 1 year old or so, I can't even remember. He's almost 5 at the time of this review. They're very busy so I recommend to make an appointment. I know kids don't respect time but I ask to be considerate with the hair stylists here. They do an awesome job. We love Nicole in specific. She can read our minds when trying to explain what kind of haircut we would like for our son. Also, she knows if the haircut we want will work out or not. Our son has several cowlicks near the front and the crown. So, she always cuts his hair to accommodate the cowlicks and it always turns out much better than what we originally thought. There have been several times when we take our son to other places because we didn't get an appointment due to bad planning on our behalf, and every time we always regret it!! She's definitely our favorite stylist!!! Now that our second baby is ready for a haircut, we will take both to Nicole. I really hope I can get an appointment with her. read more

Just went to Kiddoos for the first time, after reading the reviews posted here. We were very pleased. My son needed a haircut before starting preschool and they gave him a great cut. He was entertained the whole time with a children's movie and the promise of a sucker at the end. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The added bonus of being able to buy a pair a shoes in the attached Stride Rite, made it all the more better. We will return, as well as recommend Kiddoos to our friends. read more

I just got a great haircut for my son who has a double crown on the back of his head. It's hard to cut around and they managed to give him a beautiful trim even though he was wiggling like crazy. I'm writing this review because we have had the best experience with Sherry at Kiddoos for the past 5 years. I have two boys and they always look forward to haircuts thanks to Kiddoos great location in the back of the Stride Rite store and because the salon is specially designed to cater to the little ones. From picking out their favorite Disney movie to watch on personal station tvs to getting a lollipop to enjoy during the cut, taking our kids to for haircuts is one of the least stressful, most fun experiences we have every 4-5 weeks. And Sherry even shows us the latest styling tips for when the boys want "spikies" to look like their best buddies at school. I've taken my son here several times. He's not ready for the barber and enjoys the movies, trains, and the ladies that cut his hair. The lady who cut my daughter's hair said she was behind schedule and asked if it would be ok not to completely blow dry her hair. Who would ask that of a customer?! When we got home and her hair dried, her hair looked choppy instead of layered. I'll need to take her to another place to get it fixed. They "say" that Walk ins are welcome but NO they are NOT! If they do not have a random opening in their appointments you will NOT be able to walk in! They would rather advertise they accept walkins and then not accommodate a customer to fit in a short 4 minute haircut of a toddler even though ALL the appointments they had scheduled were having to wait on them anyway!!! I used them before and thought they were a great salon and wanted to continue using them but not if they can't accommodate customers after they advertise something on their website! It says appointments preceded walkins so obviously we knew we would wait but they won't even try to fit you in between appointments! Sorry advertisement and customer service! I'm positive i can find another children's salon that charges less and is customer service oriented!
