I'm new to town and needed to get my roots done. I had no idea where to go and have been trying to find new places based on online reviews since I don't know anyone here. I was open to a solid full color if matching my current color wasn't possible and perhaps a trim. When I called for an Anthony mentioned in reviews, I was told he's no longer here but the other ladies are experienced. I booked an appointment and came in over the weekend. I'll admit letting someone new do anything to my hair is nerve wrecking. I ended up spending 3 hours here and paid for a laundry list of services (color, partial highlight, low lights, toner, cut, blow dry). I was shocked when it was time to pay, $350 + tip totaling nearly $400. I haven't had highlights or low lights since high school! Maybe it's a thing here, I'm just not personally into it. I really like to keep things as natural as possible and don't like putting bleach or anything along those lines in my hair. I got home and cried to my best friend trying to explain I had stripes in my hair now and they look orange. My hair is naturally curly and not a lot of people know how to blow dry or flat iron my hair properly. I felt horrible that I was charged for a blow dry because as soon as I got home I immediately got in the shower to wash all of the product out of my hair, that was put in, in an effort to blow dry it. It wasn't sectioned and blow dried or flat ironed and it felt like a mess. It was also trimmed after this, so now that I've blow dried it and flat ironed it out there is a questionable section that appears to need to be trimmed. I typically get a dry cut after a Brazilian blow out so my hair is completely straight for it. I really wanted a Brazilian blow out until I found out that would be $350! I could have flown home to my girl in LA for my roots, and a Brazilian for less than this. Call me crazy but no hair appointment should be over $800. The girl who does my color, cut and Brazilian would loose her marbles if I told her this. All in all this just isn't a style or look I like or would want to pay to keep up. I feel like as soon as I need my roots done, it would be so obvious that I needed more stripes or whatever all of this is called vs just a solid root color. I'd hate to immediately go pay for a solid color to be put over the $400 service I just paid for but at the same time it doesn't feel like me at all. Although subtle enough (which again, why did this cost so much?!?) that most may not notice, I know that I never have this done to my hair. I saw a bunch of clients coming in which is great for them but this salon isn't going to be the one for me as often as my hair grows the price for services is just outrageous compared to what I'm used to paying. I like the solid dark brown sections and I'm completely confused as to how I had all of this excess going on when I specifically booked a root touch up or solid color and trim. Sometimes you feel a bit taken advantage of when things like this happen. read more

Showed her a couple of the photos that I wanted to reference with the placement of my color and she knew immediately what to do; we went through the process telling me what she was going to do and then she executed it perfectly!! First time going. I wanted to go back to bleached blonde from dark brown. I have short hair and the web price says men's haircut and color start at $85. Well my haircut and color ended up being $180 plus I gave $35 tip. Way more than I had expected. I figured it would be $110 or less. But..... Sara was awesome... she helped me decide what shade of toner/color and what style haircut. Sara spent so much time with the color and the actual haircut. Sure it was one hell of a bill but maybe you get what you pay for? I am totally happy and love my color and haircut! They even called me right before I left my house to tell me they were running 15 min behind so when I arrived I was able to go right to the chair and start. I appreciate that! read more

I got my virgin hair dyed for the first time by Tammy. She did amazing! It took about 2 hours to get the caramel balayage I asked for. She gave me all the tips and products to keep my hair healthy and I ended up buying some Kerastase shampoo and conditioner from them. I love how she styles my hair at the end too. Went from dyed bright red (think Jessica Rabbit) with dark long roots and neon white long roots, to bright blonde with some pink ombre action. Sara did an AMAZING job. Staff was nice. Clean salon. Sara is extremely knowledgeable. We even did color testing the day before in my consult. Will be going back in 2 months. They carry Keraste hair products. Those are a little pricey, but worth it to keep your hair healthy. It took from 10am to 3pm to do my hair. Including cut, foils, coloring, those services were $350 plus tip of course. Where do I even begin, I went in today hoping to get a trim because of how long it has been since my last hair cut. I didn't want it too short because my hair is naturally curly and it drys even shorter so I made a point to emphasise this. As I feel my hair being washed, I notice how gentle it is being washed and don't feel clean like I do with most salons and when she put the towel on my head I was so surprised because I could still feel the soap on my hair. Then she started to cut my hair, pointing out how long it is, but I like it long and didn't want it too short like I mentioned before. The entire time she didn't check with me to see if the specific length was okay and my face was covered with all my hair so I only got to see the length at the very end...when all my hair was already gone and it was too late to do anything. I understand I have a lot of hair, but I like having lots of hair, this lady took out almost 12 inches when I just wanted 1-2. I've spent the entire day crying and feel like my 3+ years of growing my hair out was for nothing, don't recommend and will not be coming again. read more

I would definitely recommend booking with the master stylist here. New to the area and I intended to just get a trim but the hairstylist talked me into getting my color done to "blend" it with the grown out balayage I had going on (perfectly good work from my go-to hairstylist). I stated from the beginning that I eventually want to go darker. She proceeded to bleach my hair disregarding my hopes to go darker. It wasn't noticeable in the salon but when I got home and saw my hair color in daylight, I saw how it really looked. A few days later I tired to style my hair then saw how the highlights looked. Ultimately it's my bad for letting the lady talk me into getting my color done, but I believe she isn't the stylist that others usually go to. After reading all the reviews and looking at the photos, I decided to give this place a try. I've been with my current stylist for years and I was terrified to try someone new. (I take my hair way to seriously.) I was able to book an appointment with Yalda the same week I called which was amazing. (Usually I have to book 8 weeks out.) I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she took time looking at them, looking at my hair, and talking through what she was going to do. Yalda was very thorough which I appreciate. The color came out exactly as I had hoped! Then she gave me an equally amazing cut. We talked about what we would do next time to maintain the color and style. Yalda is amazing. I will be going back. **Update 2019: Yalda helped me update my look from long blond layers to a beautiful brown bob with various tones weaved in. She's an expert and took her time making sure she could take my hair from a very cool toned blond to a rich, warm tone brunette which is tricky! She gave me the exact look I was hoping for. **Update COVID 2020: Avenue is taking all precautions to ensure a safe visit. Everyone including me properly wore a mask the entire time.
