Bullying and attacks happened to my child in second grade. School lied and said it happened once…read morebut wouldn't show me the footage of the bus that was already separated by gender due to how bad it was. Be sure to FOIA you school bus videos every once in awhile to see how your own child acts as well as others. I've never heard a child talk with such vulgar language at such a young age. My child was jumped 4 times for the 20 min bus ride!!! Bus driver didn't see it. The super and principal had a meeting of which I reordered with permission. They said if my child ever felt unsafe to raise her hand and she could spend the rest of the day in the principals office. It took alot to get a monitor on the bus, even then with them having the school bully sit in front of her to the point she would cry and be terrified to be on a bus she was homeschooled. The staff lies straight to the parents faces. They do upgrades on the schools but only for staff areas not for student areas. They had "square fans" one per room, flys all over bathroom areas smelt rotten, as well as their "portable fan"... "it stays in the lunch room so they can cool off picking up lunch". They stated it would be moved room to room. They do not cancel school or call home when your child is having heat stroke or has to be carried to the nurses office for immediate care. As someone certified I was appalled. They got so upset with my FOIA requests that they started using my initials only. They will bad talk parents for showing up to meetings with concerns. Beware. They do not care about your opinions. Take care of your babies as it only gets worse with stbbings in middle school and no expulsion. Everyone passes. I support the teachers as they put up with alot. With no help from the board or the principals or super. Wego has one of the highest homeschooling groups around. Free and very involved. Reach out to your community and you will find out. Even teachers that work there homeschool their own children. Keep your children safe and stay aware of what is happening inside the school and on buses for their safety.

We transferred my daughter midway through her 2nd grade year from Elmhurst public school to Four…read moreWinds. My husband and I are in complete agreement that this was the BEST decision we have ever made on behalf of our daughter. And the best kept secret of the western suburbs -- well worth the 30 minute commute each way for us. She has always been a good student but we felt she wasn't getting the social support she needed at the crowded, academic heavy public school. We also observed her imagination and boundless creativity being stifled by the rigorous academic schedule. She began struggling with doing homework and completing writing assignments. She became stressed out and even depressed in the evenings and started begging me to let her stay home. She never wanted to go to school and would often cry before and after. We made the difficult decision to transfer her mid-year which was a rocky transition but within a couple weeks, we started to see our joyful daughter come back to us. Now she LOVES school and can't wait to go. The school seems to awaken a love of life and nature in the children and a genuine curiosity. She is constantly over-flowing with ideas and asking questions about the world around her. She decided, on her own, to stop watching TV and playing video games! She told me that she has more important things to do with her time. She is busy constantly writing stories, playing imaginary games in her room, exploring outside, jumping rope, singing and even enjoys doing chores around the house. (!) Four Winds does much less academic work in the classroom than public schools. The 2nd graders a little behind on reading but I'm confident they will catch up. It's whole child education. So lots of fine art and outdoor play. As a result Four Winds kids are eager to learn - they learn quickly and retain information easily. In the spring they learned an entire 30 minute play in verse. It was pages and pages of poetic dialogue and they presented it beautifully. My daughter still knows the lines perfectly. I would even venture to say they are ahead in math. My daughter learned and grasped the concept of multiplication and division in one day! She rattled a few tables off in the car on the way home...I couldn't believe it. I could honestly go on and on about all the things that make this school exceptional. Their spiritual, loving, calm, patient and whole child approach just works. The kids are the proof. When you tour the school, talk to the kids...you will see what I mean.

The teachers were so loving and caring ,and the kindergarten and class rooms so warm and beautiful. But most importantly, children are allowed to be children. They engage in age appropriate activities and the child's imagination is fostered at all times. Beautiful school, beautiful people, and a philosophy that makes sense.

They took good care of my family and the other two families that had parental deaths when I attended here. The teachers were great here I learned a lot. I was scoring in the high 90th percentile sin everything on every test I took after I left here. I owe them big time for that. They challenged me. I was in town the day the church burned...I saw it all smoky and crispy. Sad, sad, sad. I had my first communion here too. My mother, two classmate's parents and my great-grandmother's funerals were here. I was an alter girl too when I was a kid. I used to run around the church after school. This is the place that put the fear of G-d in me and keeps me agnostic rather then atheist as I go through that whole "I'm an adult - know what" thing. The spiritual education I got here kept me on a fairly straight path most of my life... The new church is AMAZING, huge and endless. They tore down the rectory and the convent and now have what I think is the largest and most beautiful community faith centers I have ever seen.
