I've been going her since before I can remember. I first leant about the place through my Mother's…read moreexperiences at Webbs, as a child as well. I am 17 now, volunteering my spring and summer breaks to work at the camp I feel changed me the most! As a kid I loved tons of activities like all the games, swimming, sports day and of course all the crafty things I got to take home with me. Reaching my adult years and I still love the sport of Riding and the experience of being around horses. Working at Webbs gives me a chance to help and give back to other children. My family at Webbs is forever expanding, and if you're thinking of sending your child here, I can only give you support! working at Webbs gives you a whole different perspective on how things are run, compared to as when your a child actually staying at the camp. a basic broken down list of the week for you (long weeks) Sunday-Saturday (short weeks) Monday-Friday FIRST DAY: its basically all the rules, guide lines and all the "what you need to know" things. You walk up to the fields with the consolers to visit all of the horses, and when you return you go to your dorm to get beds and dorm rules sorted out. Snack is served and a camp fire is put on just before bed. EARLY IN THE WEEK: BELL RINGS!! TIME FOR BREAKFAST! After breakfast is the first dorm inspection, this is where the messiest dorm, after provided cleaning time, is choosing to clean the tables at lunch, dinner (that day) and breakfast tomorrow! (don't worry its fun!) Children get divided into mixed groups so there are enough horses for each child in a group. Groups ride at different times of the day and rotate order on the following days. In the morning groups who are not riding do activities and games with their group leaders like; Manhunt, Kick The Can, Octopus ect. There is a playground, volley ball court, basket ball court, gym, arts and crafts room and of course the pool! After lunch the remaining group(s) go riding and other groups get into the groove of games :) MIDDLE OF THE WEEK: Because they're so many options of things to do, it keeps everyone busy throughout the week. Another activity that is from Webbs Holiday Acres traditions is sports day, where pool and field events are held and groups compete friendly against each other, and cheer on friends during events. END OF THE WEEK: The first half of the week goes the slowest with everyone still getting to know everyone and their surroundings, but by the middle and the end of the week, you can hear everyone complaining how the week is coming to an end. A very cool and fun way to bring the week to an end, is how Webbs does the last full day at camp!! after riding, activities and dinner Kangaroo Court is held where any child with any kind of crime that week has to face the wrath of one of Webbs judges. crimes range anything from falling off of your horse (punishment might be: hug/kiss the ground and thank it for catching you) or Julie for always wearing dresses, (punishment might be: must wear pants for the rest of Kangaroo court) We always encourage good things and lots of children get to go home with a horseshoe for being a good friend, good rider, or helper at the barn. After this entertaining trial everyone runs for their dorms to get ready for the DANCE!!! The dance was always my favourite part of the week, because you had your friends established, and that night you just let loose, have a little bit to much candy and sing and dance the night away with your friends. Thats my little summary of Webbs Holiday Acres, I hope you give it a try! I'll see you there!! ;) Danielle (probably 10+ years of Webbs Summers)

More importantly, it's an outstanding summer experience for kids who love (and want to ride) horses and want to make new friends. I know this firsthand, having spent many summers as a child at Webb's in the past. Looking back, spending an entire week (6 nights, 7 days) away from your parents, in a different setting, with all sorts of new people and daily activities, is a really great way to grow as a kid. FYI: Some of these activities included: campfire songs and storytelling, trail riding horses, going to a non-school dance, participating in skits, playing capture the flag, etc, etc. I recommend this place to my friends who are parents now, and still sometimes go and visit. Since it's only 50-minute drive from central Vancouver, it still feels like a convenient country escape. Some of the friendships I made during my summers here have lasted a lifetime.

The instructors here showed an alarming lack of professionalism and misused their authority to unfairly target and humiliate him. Sure, it`s a little run down, Nah, it`s not made for roid…read moremonkeys, and Ya, you bet! it`s a small community gym, but for us locals, us regulars, it's a gem. With its caring down-to-earth staff, split gym, pool and hot tub, steam and sauna, fitness classes, racquetball court and preschool, Ron Andrews (RA) keeps the community vibe fresh and flowin`strong. Maintaining a steady mixed demographic of preschoolers, moms, teens, fitness buff regulars and aquasizing steam-lovin` seniors, RA is a hub for the North Van community and it keeps us connected. And yes, it represents us better than the North Vancouver Boyz on Youtube ;) It oozes community factor and awesomeness... all because of the staff. They listen. After renos of the gym were completed a couple years back, the staff posted a bulletin: How do you like the new changes? Suggestions for improvement? [Suggestion box]. Though I liked the new layout very much, I submitted 4 suggestions after a few test-run workouts: more mats, add a full length mirror to the mat area, switch the location of a treadmill with another fitness machine because it's a little dangerous, and perhaps have a themed dance music night for a couple hours. And Voila! Within a week, my first 3 suggestions were implemented, and a basic questionnaire to have a dance music night went up. Community feedback is always encouraged here. They motivate. One of my friends began eating healthy and working out regularly to shed off a few extra pounds. She had been succeeding and gaining great results with her fitness plan. Noticing her change, the Weight Room Supervisor acknowledged that she was lookin great, ended up reviewing her food plan and providing healthy eating tips, and offered a couple personal training sessions if she could reach her next goal, which she did. How's that for motivation? ;) They care. Proactive, helpful, kind and continuously working to make it the best community centre it can be, the staff make RA the epitome of a well-run community centre. Core to their credo is community-mindedness. So by the looks of it, it's just your everyday reccentre with an average weight room and pool, but when you get to know it, you realize its the heart of our community... in the District of North Vancouver :)

The instructors and the staff are all very professional and experienced. Our daughter's teacher is a good fit. The class structure is very rigid. Do not expect any credits if you need to skip a week. On the flip side, the instructors are allowed to cancel with short notice for their own personal reasons. Our daughter's teacher has musical commitments a few times each year and this she misses out on lessons 4 or 5 times a year. The actual spaces can be hit and miss. Our daughter is in a small room in the basement, with very poor acoustic control, immediately adjacent the early learning room where very young kids clang and bang loudly on instruments including pianos and other loud instruments. Not very condusive to a quality private lesson environment for our child. In general we are happy.

I have taken three courses here (two spinning classes and a weaving class, as well as a short felting workshop) and have loved them all. If you are interested in the arts, this place will surely have something for you. The ambiance is super cute, with colorful, warm vibes. The music always soothing, and you even get hot tea and Turkish delights in bites. 1) booking has never been easier. We selected the pick you piece on site. So go earlier so you can browse and really find the piece and size you want. 2) go early, so you can start planning what kind of mosaic you plan to design in your platter. 3) be mindful of the time. You get 3 hrs, but the hours go really fast when you're having fun, and you're also new to this. Set some time aside, more than 1 hr, so do the filler beading at the end. My friends and I really pushed the boundaries of time limit and was rushing to finish our beading filler. Still super fun, but super intense thinking we wouldn't finish on time. Definitely would go back and do this again. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The establishment was clean and chic. Please note that this isn't wheel chair friendly and that you will have to go down a bunch of stairs to reach the studio. Price was right! For unlimited glass and beads. And for just the whole experience. Really recommend it! Parking was easy to find outside. Paid meter, bust its only 2 hrs max? Hands down, the best art workshop around!…read more At the Mosaic Art Studio you can make your own traditional Turkish lamp using hand cut mosaic glass and beads. I've never been to a more satisfying art workshop. You start with a specific project in mind (think Candle Holders, or different shapes of lamps... Table, Aladdin, Swan, and Moon lamps). They are all the same difficulty and range in prices from $79-139. In their studio, you spend 3 hours making your lamp, and what may seem like a lot of time, those precious hours will fly by. Their studio, which is just across from Columbia station, is gorgeous! It's decorated with rugs and lamps and intricate Turkish pieces all set to get inspiration from. Each workshop table has an assortment of colorful beads and hand-cut glass pieces. You also get a handy sheet that has examples of designs that you can use for your creation. It's fun getting to design your own lamp. You have the creative freedom to choose the color, shapes and styles, or you can even wing it. Whatever you choose, it will come out perfectly following their instruction on what to do. Once you're finished making your glass bowl insert, the studio takes two weeks to seal it to preserve your design. You'll receive an email when it's ready to collect. And at home, you can marvel in awe of what you created. I've also booked the team here for an in-office team-building group workshop, and they were fantastic. They set up everything similar to their studio and even played the traditional Turkish music. The instruction was clear and they had plenty of their friends to help on a one-on-one basis if anyone needed help or advice. The team here make it a really seamless process and I couldn't recommend them enough! Come to their beautiful studio or book them for an event, either way, it's a fun time creating your own Turkish mosaic lamp!
