My mom's appointments have been messed up twice, and both times we showed up only to find out she wouldn't be receiving the service she was scheduled for. On both occasions, we were assisted by Emily at the front desk. The first time, a few months ago, we arrived for my mom's appointment and were told there was no appointment in the system. I'm fairly certain Emily was the one who scheduled it, but I had no proof, so I was essentially made to feel like it was my mistake. Since then, I've started asking for appointment receipts every time. Most recently, I requested that my mom be scheduled with a different dentist. Emily helped us and even printed an appointment slip with a handwritten note stating the appointment would be with the new doctor. We arrived, waited almost an hour, only to be told the appointment had actually been scheduled with the original dentist. This situation is especially frustrating because I have to take time off work to bring my mom since she doesn't speak English, and I also have to bring my one-year-old with us. After waiting nearly an hour for nothing, we had to reschedule yet again. The only explanation I received was that there "was no note in the system," which is why the appointment hadn't been changed. How is that my responsibility? No one acknowledged that the mistake was made by the office or apologized for the inconvenience. The front desk staff could really benefit from better training, especially in organization, communication, and empathy. Mistakes happen, but taking responsibility and showing empathy toward patients and their families goes a long way.

Office boss pulled me in her office we talked, I said I'd call the Wausau office when I got home and she said they would try to fit the boys in for a cleaning when I called back.... fast forward to two days ago. I called there to get my boys set up for routine cleanings. They tell me they need to get ahold of their manager bc my bill went to collections and they need approVal! call me back within 5 mins, leave me a message saying they can no longer accept my boys as patients bc my account has gine to collections!!!!!!!!! Then they tell me to contact the insurance number to see what other pediatric number is in network... guess what.. you are the only one!!!! Now what?! I have to drive 2 hours for my boys to get dental care?!! Really?! make me pay before I leave maybe?!!!! Sooo soooooooo upsetting!!!! Then I was suppose to get reimbursed the first time when I had different insurance after they submitted my bill to insurance bc I paid right away and never got reimbursed anything!
