After exploring 2 other kids' dentists, we finally found a place where the staff truly understands my kids' needs and shows so much patience with them. Every time we walk in, everyone is so warm and welcoming which helps when my kids are nervous. The dentists are not only knowledgeable and professional, but they also take the time to explain everything in a way that both parents and kids can understand. The office is clean, well-organized, and clearly designed with children in mind. Every visit has been smooth, efficient, and stress-free. I wish I could give this place negative stars. My experience here has been extremely disappointing. My son needed a couple of extractions, and during the first visit, the dentist was very rough. They were pulling at his head and mouth impatiently, using heavy hands the entire time. It was uncomfortable to watch and clearly distressing for my child. The second visit was even worse. After my son was given nitrous oxide, the dentist came in and immediately started poking at his gums before he was properly numb. Naturally, he began to cry, and instead of handling the situation with care, the dentist abruptly stopped and said she couldn't continue. There was no attempt to calm him or proceed more gently. Her bedside manner was extremely poor and unprofessional. To make matters worse, we were still charged for an incomplete visit, and the office continued to call us for follow-ups afterward, which felt very inappropriate given the situation. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office. Please don't rely solely on the positive reviews. read more

Parents should think twice before trusting this office with their children or their money. I have spent the last seven months trying to obtain a refund that is owed to my family. After my daughter's procedure, we paid our estimated portion up front. Once insurance processed the claim, there was a credit balance on our account because services we paid for were covered by insurance. Since February, I have made numerous phone calls, left multiple voicemails, sent emails, and even addressed the issue during a subsequent office visit. Every time I was told the refund would be processed. Seven months later, I still have not received my money. The office manager, Dory, has never returned my calls or emails despite repeated requests. The complete lack of communication and accountability has been unacceptable. What concerns me even more are the billing practices. I discovered that an office visit was never submitted to my insurance. When my insurance company contacted the office, they were told the claim was not billed because there had supposedly been a November visit. According to my records, there was no November visit. When I asked the office to explain why the claim was never submitted and requested documentation supporting their position, they refused to answer my questions or provide the information I requested. Patients should not have to chase a dental office for months to receive money that is owed to them or fight to get basic answers about their billing. In my experience, there has been a complete lack of transparency, poor communication, and no sense of urgency in correcting what appears to be a billing issue. If you choose to use this practice, carefully review every Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company, compare it to what you were charged, and verify that all services were properly submitted to insurance. Don't simply assume the billing is correct. I have now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will also be filing complaints with the appropriate California regulatory agencies. I hope no other family has to go through what we have experienced. read more

This review is for the current Chino Hills office manager (who initially told me verbally that her name was Dorrie, then she said it was Tori, and then wrote down her name as Kelley Toi, so I'm not sure what is correct) and the billing department. My daughter has been coming to KDS since she was 6 months old - she is now 15. The dentists, hygienists, and front office staff have always been wonderful, even when ownership changed. Sadly, this current office manager will be the reason my daughter will now be searching for a new dentist. Back in April 2025, my daughter needed some dental work done. The office gave us a good faith estimate and we paid what was estimated to be our portion of the cost. Once the EOB was finalized, we discovered we were overcharged by $68.40. I immediately contacted the office and spoke to Kimberly. She took note of the overcharge and said she would send it to Corporate, and that we should allow a month or two for the overcharge to be refunded. That check never came. I reached back out to the office during my daughter's next appointment in August 2025, and I provided them with copies of the paperwork. I was told the business office would reach out to me. That never happened. I brought it up again at my daughter's next regular appointment in December and was told the manager was out but would get back to me. Nope. I brought it up again (and provided copies again) at my daughter's regular cleaning in April 2026 and was told it would be forwarded to the billing office. I received an email with no signature (and lots of grammatical errors that I will keep for your reading pleasure) that simply stated "Hello Family. After our billing department evaluated everything, Hamana Downgraded the filling to D2391 (silver filling) the family is responsible for the difference from D2391 (white filling) The credit on G----- chart is $----". I went back and rechecked the EOB - this is not true at all. Humana coded it for the Resin-based (white) filling (which is the D2391 code that KDS billed) and paid out accordingly, but subtracted the plan discount amount. The current credit this manager/business office said we are owed is only for the overpayment on the extractions my daughter had. However, the statement about the "downgrade" is false we are being charged the amount that is discounted for having dental insurance. This is fraud. I am not looking to get a response from the office manager as I waited for her in office for 35 minutes today (she tried to tell me she didn't know I was there...I watched the front office staff walk over to tell her on more than one occasion...another lie). Then she threatened to call security on me because when she told me "I'll be with you in a minute", I strongly told her no because I had already waited 35 minutes and needed to get back to MY job. Was I annoyed and angry and upset? YES! And considering she was literally playing keep away and ignoring me by hiding out in the back office, I think I am justified in my frustration. I am hoping to hear back from either one of the doctors or someone from corporate to address the $68.40 that is owed to me. We all know that if I was 16 months late on payment, I would have been sent to collections a LONG time ago. I just want the money that is due to me. I would also like to see KDS find a kind, responsive, effective manager who treats patients the way they should be treated. This office has always been a pleasure to work with, and it is sad when one bad seed ruins the entire environment. When you question Dory the office manager about the charges she starts yelling and asking why don't want to pay. So many parents also say the same about their false billing charges. The office still had the nerve to call me to confirm my two daughters appointments for Nov when I told them they were both never coming back(see prior experience rating ) - update for you all my 5 year old took the laughing gas like no other from another office and got the work done that was needed . Only paid $25.00. Mind you kids dental said mandatory for her to be knocked out for the work which was $1600.00 plus work was $280 with insurance . Both offices are in network not sure why they were charging so much . Got the same work plus white fillings . Trust your gut and get that second opinion . There have been many little things that I wasn't satisfied with at this business. We like dr Chris so we just kept coming. My youngest has been coming every 6 months for a checkup since he had his first tooth. He progressively hated and feared going to the dentist. We had some treatment for his cavities(sdf) and the dentists would check him and we'd come back for our next check up. Our last visit was with another dentist. He tells me that my son will need extensive work and will need iv sedation. I was very surprised since there never was anything saying things are worsening. It was always ok we will see you again in six months. It's not about the cost of the iv sedation, it's more about why my child suddenly needed extensive treatment when there was no discussion in previous appts. I find it hard to believe that the last six months the situation of things have changed that much. Today though was the last straw. We came in for our checkup which they scheduled. When we come in the receptionist was asking what brought us in. I said we have a checkup. She told me that my child already had two check ups this year which is what insurance covers so if we did not have an issue to reschedule in January. There can be mistakes in scheduling which I understand. But this is not my fault for them scheduling this appt and it takes time and effort to come to these appointments. But the receptionist has no apology nor seemed to care about the inconvenience at all. In fact she seemed perturbed that I was unhappy with how this mistake happened. Dr Chris, I have filed a complaint with the Dental Board of California for unprofessional conduct including failure to release records, and a breach of confidentiality. Your office staff on multiple occasions refused to provide the requested documents/ records for my two children. On 7/30/25, I entered KDS with a police officer in an attempt to, once again, obtain documents I was requesting over the phone, which I was denied. I contacted Chino PD requesting assistance because of the disgusting behavior your office staff, coached by Dorrie, has shown me. Dorrie then violated HIPAA by disclosing protected health information to a police officer who had no legal or medical need to see it, especially after I, the only authorized recipient, responsible party for the insurance & mother of the 2 minors, explicitly asked her to show it to me and not the officer. She had no VALID CONSENT OR LEGAL JUSTIFICATION to give protected health information to the officer. Therefore, I have also filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. read more

I have been a long time client of this place and I could say that this place has always been mediocre at best. Dentist are always constantly changing and you never get the same consistent one. The front desk is always super rude and never acknowledge you when you come into the office. On my last appointment I was 12 minutes late and they refused to see my daughter. And every time I've ever gone to an appointment in the past they are always behind and make me wait 20-30min before being seen. I'm sure the dentist was behind and was just being lazy that day and they wanted to have one less person on their schedule. I give this place two thumbs down and I will never return. read more

If she works in a financial institution, she should know better that you can always present a claim to your FSA company with the invoice, and she will get her money back, and usually, they will deposit it into your bank account. Thieves! Be careful with your bank card and information, this business is unethical and uses your card to charge you monthly without any reason or authorization. I paid in full upfront for my services and they still used my card in addition to charge it monthly for no reason but to steal my money I would never step foot here, their staff lied and gave me a different name and also told me the charges were being made by a 3rd party which in fact wasn't true my bank was able to confirm to me it was them making the unauthorized charges. read more

Long story story short...my son got his cleaning done with his regular dentist on 3/30/23. Bc of his cavities, his dentist recommended I look into getting them fixed at an actual pedo dentist. So I found Kids Dental and made an appointment for consultation on 4/6/23. We decided go ahead and make an appt for the actual procedure that included nitro. But something wasn't sitting right to me and I was very uncomfortable when they were verbalizing their service. Especially when they told me that if my son gets scared and cries and would have to reschedule that I would get charged $350 for behaviorial issue. HE WAS 5!! So we ended up cancelling the future appt. 6 months later...I get a call from his regular dentist asking if Kids Dental did another cleaning, X-ray, and fluoride on 4/6/23 which again was a week after he just got all that done with his regular dentist. I told her no and reminded her that I even called for them to fax/email the X-rays that were done to Kids Dental. WELL. KIDS DENTAL BILLED THE INSURANCE CLAIMING THEY DID the cleaning, X-Ray, and flouride. WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. I called my insurance and the insurance verbalized to me who the treating Dr. was. Which was also false. Bc the claim states it was a male. The dentist I sat with for the consult was a female. I have no idea why this place is still open. We took our daughter to get care and also for a fixed appliance therapy "A Fixed palatal thumb crib". Here is how it went; - Appliance was wrong installed with way too much cement - Few days later she started to have fever and cough which we thought it was a cold with the weather changing so much - 2 days with Fever and treating at home per primary care instructions , one night fever was out of control and she then started puking up blood - We rushed to emergency in the middle of the night and desperate thinking it was Pneumonia or something in that nature - While waited in the emergency room for the x-ray and other exams , blood would be dripping out of her mouth - They rushed her in , X-ray and everything came out super clean , then doctors started to check and noticed that the bleeding was coming out of her gums, We then went home and waited for Kids Dental Specialist to open which was already day time by the time we got home - They removed the appliance and there was WAYYY too much cement which went over her gum and her gum/tooth was inflamed and bleeding non-stop Now , it has been 5 days that my wife can't go to work, since fever is still there and we have to take care of her. Not just that , we have called 3 days in a row 2x times a day to speak to a manager and manager was busy in meetings all day. I then went there personally since manager was too busy to help customers and now the manager need to speak to the owners to take care of the case and give us a refund . It is mind blowing that a place like this is only equipped to deal with situations when everything goes well but manager is too busy to take care of a situation when things go wrong. I informed the nurse and the dentist that my 3.5 yr old is anxious about her second visit and has strong gag reflux but that didn't stick in their heads. During our first visit their X-ray machines was down while my daughter fully cooperated and was prepared to be checked they declined. Second visit she wasn't ready to get the X-ray as she was nervous they put zero effort to distract or talk her into it. Didn't let us show her video to distract or carry and calm her down instead asked us to physically force her cross hold her and get her through the sitting. PARENTS BEWARE THE OTHER ONE STAR REVIEWS ARE TRUE: If I could could leave Zero stars I would! Today was my second time here in a long time m. The reason I came back was because the office that branched out years ago is not in my insurance network. So I called a couple weeks ago to find out if they accept my j aura me and they said yes! They are in network. My daughter has her first appointment everything goes well. Today was her treatment and when we arrive I ask if the insurance approved or denied the nitro and the front desk young lady said she would go check after a while she comes back and states that the insurance had not yet responded and if I would like to proceed with today I said of course. The reason I said yes is because usually the difference when an office is in network is not much maybe $100 difference. Once the nurse put my daughter in the nitro and she had started the treatment the manager came by and asked to speak with me and I asked her if it could wait and she rudely said no I need to talk to you and you can step out! So I did and she proceeded to tell me even before introducing herself to tell me that my insurance only covered a portion and that after that my payment would be $874 dollars! Mind you she's very visibly upset as if it's my fault they didn't verify my insurance. So I tell her that we will stop what they are doing because they initially said $25 co payment and now it's over $700 no way that's not in my budget and I've used the insurance before for my husbands fillings and we had no co payment as the dr was in network she proceeded to very loudly in the hallway tell me that they ARE in network! I decline to continue with the treatment and ask them to stop by then two things had already been done and I of course knew we would have to pay for that. She then approached me with a new estimate and ask that I sign it and I told her I wouldn't because they made the mistake and she would not let me talk and was at this point yelling and so was I she told me she would tell the owners I didn't want to pay which is not true and as I kept talking she asked that I lower my voice and I told her that she started by putting my business out in the open she refuse to speak and just wanted to berate me because I didn't allow it she asked that we leave and when I asked to speak to someone else in charge she said it was her that there is no one else and to leave so we left. I can't believe I was treated this way and I front of my child. SHES A LIAR AND WHEN I CALLED MY INSURANCE THEY VERIFIED THAT THEY ARE NOT IN NETWORK AND NEVER HAVE BEEN SO SHE LIED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I love this place. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. When you have a little one who may have anxiety coming to the dentist, everyone here including Dr. Tran really try their best to make this a good experience for kids and can make any dental experience "not scary". I have a niece that comes here and a friend's daughter who comes here. Clean environment, coffee, tea and water provided for parents. Good experience overall and they were great with all 3 of my kiddos under 5 yrs old. They give them little bag of dental goodies, have prizes and cavity free Month certificates. They accept PPO and have an in-house insurance program if needed. One thing that I didn't agree with but doesn't affect this review because it's really more personal opinion, is that they want you to refrain from telling your kids it may hurt or they will be getting a shot. They don't want them to be scared but I actually believe being honest helps my kids know that "it may hurt for a little or be uncomfortable but it will be quick. Update: They were courteous enough to call and apologized for miscommunication. Explained every bits of the service that he received. Also, offered to match the initial cost that they quoted for miscommunication. Not very happy with my son's first visit. We have a dental insurance but wanted my son's first visit to dentist to be positive experience so I decided to go to Kids Dental which was out of network. When I initially called they quoted something around $150ish. Which was bit expensive for just checkup but I made the appointment anyway. Arrived on time for appointment but had to wait about 45minutes with active 21months old. Then the doctor came in and examined his teeth, brushed his teeth the way I brush it at home and put floride on. The doctor tried to leave immediately so I had to stop him to ask some questions. Overall, it probably took about 5minutes after 45 minutes of wait! And then..... They charged me $235!!!!! Brushing his teeth was called cleaning service which was $85 alone. Unbelievable! read more

I am not sure why this place got good reviews. I took my son for the checkup and the Dr told me he has more than 18 cavity and gave me a treatment plan still cost me $500 after insurance. My insurance covered already 90% of everything. So I went to another dentist, it only cost me about $200 after insurance. I look the chart and the billing code. They tend to up-coding the filling from two surface to three surface. Other dentist said my son only have 8 cavity. So, I won't come back again because I can't trust them. read more

You ever have those situations where you went back to bad relationship and REGRETTED it! Dory is a complete disrespectful, condescending, horrible manager to be "in charge" of this office. I kept this office despite driving an hour to get here, I arrive today to be told my 3 kids won't be seen today because of a high balance. We have dual insurances. They are incompetent and can't figure out how to handle the insurance. I have told them several times in the past that I would sit on the phone if there's an issue with insurance but they need to let me know. There hasn't been ONE call or EMAIL to me advising there is an issue. Not one. Then as I'm explaining to the MANAGER everytime I come in there's an issue with billing she tells me that patients need to take responsibility and handle it. How am I handle a problem I didn't even know existed???! Wasted gas, wasted time and energy. I asked to speak to Dr Chris (who I really like) and they said I couldn't speak to him and gave me a card or send an email complaint. I checked my messages and email and the only thing recent is the confirmation of today's appointments!! Dory kept talking over me and not letting me finish my sentences and when I tried to interject she said "she's not doing this Mom... bye... she'll call security" I told her to call security! Why? Because I'm trying to have a conversation?! She's a joke! When I called that bluff she just kept saying there's nothing she could do and that Dr Chris is the one denying service today.
