This was our second visit with my son we were pleased. We paid $200 cash since they do not accept my dental insurance. I was surprised that a money hungry office manager had called me many times with discussing a $24 X-ray that was taken which was not included in the $200 along side another X-ray which they did waive. She went so far as pulling the call of when I spoke with the receptionist who advised me it would about $200. I requested they waive the additional $24 and requested I speak with the dentist. I was sure this $24 would be no longer be an issue. I get another phone call from the biller who is conveniently the dentists sister and was advised the dentist does not get on the phone with patients. Oh really wow !!! I was speechless at this point the sister biller then threatened me that if I didn't pay the $24 they would ensure collections would come after me. I was baffled at this point I had no choice to hang up as I was at work and really had to refrain myself from telling the sister biller the money hungry office manager Taylor and especially the Dentist who doesnt use the phone to speak with patients I guess she thinks she's the great and powerful wizard of oz. I'll send them the $24 I guess they really need it but I definitely will not be going back there. read more

Finding a dental office for toddlers is hard because parents want to make sure it's a comfortable environment for their children. I found out about Kids Dental here in SI. The office is very welcoming and friendly. They offer sunglasses to protect their eyes from the lights, they have themed-rooms, TVs to keep their focus while getting cleaned. At the end of the cleaning, kids receive a balloon, toothbrush, toothpaste, and stickers. We've been going to Dr. Rod since we started going to this office. Dr. Rod is really the best. He's very patient with my kids, he helps them feel comfortable, remembers when my kids don't like a certain flavor of toothpaste, and explains to them the importance of good dental hygiene. My kids actually enjoy going here and seeing him. My kids and I highly recommend going with Dr. Rod and this office! read more

Yesterday I took my daughter for her first ever dental appointment. She was very nervous upon entering the room but all of the staff were very professional and knew exactly how to handle my soon to be three-year-old daughter. The chocolate toothpaste was a hit and we wound up buying a tube for home use. Everyone was very gentle with her and she walked out happily with a balloon and a Peppa Pig toothbrush. My son had to get 2 teeth pulled on Monday. Dr. Lazzara was amazing! She explained everything she was doing to my son and he didn't feel any pain during it after the teeth were pulled. I was So nervous that he would be in pain and he wasn't at all. Whatever Dr Lazzara did, she did it right!! I hardly ever take the time out of my very busy day to complain, but I just felt it was necessary after my recent visit to Kids Dental seeing Dr. Lisa Lazzara. My son is 18 months old, In my opinion his teeth are quite nice, very white, pretty straight for baby teeth, I brush them every night before bed. In this appointment I was only given extremely negative feedback on my son. The first being that he has a tongue tie, but both my Pediatrician (I had asked when my son was a newborn since I work in rehab and am aware of tongue ties) and another dentist from Dr. Lazzara's practice whom I saw at my sons 12 month visit did not say was present. She explained they would basically put my 18 month old in a straight jacket and laser off the tongue tie at her office. Definitely not doing that!! She also mentioned he will need braces, why am I hearing about that already at 18 months? I think we have a little time for that. I would be very willing to do braces if needed down the road with his adult teeth just really think unnecessary to discuss now. I just left feeling pretty defeated, when he had no cavities and nice white teeth. I will not be going back. I felt like she was trying to recoup some $$ from the lack of business with COVID. read more

The only reason i am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was no barrier tape on the light and all the instruments were opened before I came in. i would prefer to see them taken out of the sterilized bag when we get there. There was no wait time, the staff was very friendly and they made my daughter comfortable enough to get a cleaning and each tooth checked! Pretty great!! read more

I called to make an appointment and told the office receptionist that I would be paying cash as I don't have dental insurance. The day of the appointment, my son was given an exam, as well as 2 xrays (they wanted to take 4, but he wouldn't cooperate). When it was time to check out, the cost was $60 over what I was told on the phone. Apparently, x-rays cost almost $30 extra per tooth. I was not informed of this and not prepared to pay the extra fee. Luckily, my son was uncooperative and I wasn't stuck paying $120. Unfortunately, nothing could be done as per receptionist. We will now be taking our business elsewhere to avoid hidden fees. I'm giving this business 3 stars because the hygentist was super sweet and gentle with my son. read more

They are all happy, super friendly, and professional! They know exactly how to make kids of all ages feel comfortable, from the time of check-in, to the cleaning, to and prize and fun picture after the visit . The office itself is not only impeccably clean & pristine, but it's also colorful and super inviting to a child. They can even watch cartoons on the ceiling TV during their cleaning, and they get to wear (and keep) cute sunglasses. I feel confident that I am taking my children to the best dentist there is. Amazing.. My 3 year olds first trip to the dentist. Needless to say she was afraid but this office is the only way to go. From the second you walk in the entire office is made for children. Every aspect the waiting room is a play room: the reception area has toy machines- the exam rooms are all themed. If my 2 year old was having difficulty with taking an X-ray (due to an injury) the dentist should have tried to help out instead of having young inexperienced technicians do it. SI Kids Dental knows nothing about HIPAA. There is no patient privacy. There are three kids dental sections as advertised in Staten Island Parent Magazine that are separated by a semi wall which allows you to hear about the other patient's teeth conditions and to see the other patients during their procedures. When you think you are making an appointment with Dr Lazzara, you end up seeing some other dentist who seems like she is fresh out of dental residency whose dental hygienist is telling misdiagnosis of the kid's teeth. If you want children privacy, advance dental technology, and an experienced dentist taking care of your children teeth, go to Dr Michelle Giumenta located on 2530 Amboy Road. It's really a shame because this office used to be wonderful and I loved Dr. Lisa from our first visits. Six months ago I came in for checkups with my kids and I was unhappy to say the least. However this was the first time I've ever had an unhappy visit here after years of coming to this office so I decided to give it another shot. Several weeks ago I came in on a Saturday with my kids and again, I was beyond unhappy. I was running a few minutes late due to heavy traffic on the expressway so I called to let them know. The lady who answered the phone said it was no problem so I rushed there. The hygienists were beyond rude to both me and my kids about being TEN minutes late to the appointment. They had no bedside manner and the cleaning was done in less then 10 minutes. My kid were uncomfortable the whole visit. As if I wasn't already ticked off, while waiting for the dentist to come in, the two stood there complaining about their personal life and talking badly about the office staff. Unprofessional to say the least! I ONLY hesitated on posting this review because the new dentist was a pleasure. I will not be returning. read more
