I just moved back to town and was recently approached a young lady asking if I might need daycare…read morefor my child, I told her yes and she asked if she could give me a flyer of hers said she was opening her daycare in the area that weekend and would love if I came to check it out.I took the flyer, gave it a look over which looked professional and kept it moving. A few days later a close friend of mine asked if I would like to go out for a girls day out for her. Birthday and instantly I knew I'd had to find a baby sitter for my 2 years daughter. I remembered the flyer I'd gotten a few days before and decided to check out her website, www.ashontipopkins.com which looked very nice and simple to me. I gave Ashonti a call to see if Ariel and I could meet her and see her daycare. She told me she had a in-home daycare but was still CPR certified and first aid trained and she was set up like a professional daycare would be just out of the comfort of her home. I live in Irving now so I figured Lancaster wouldn't be that bad of a drive. Ariel and I packed a little play bag for her and headed towards her place, upon her directions it was very easy to get to. Right off the main highway and located in a nice homey community. She greeted us at the door with a warm welcome and invited us in. You guys her house is very nice the environment was very siren, safe and creative. From the play centers she had set up, the activities she had for the kids to play with to the kitchen and even bathroom were very clean and professional. Areas that kids weren't intended to play in were gated off and there's no tv in the living room which was a A plus for me. I'm not a big fan of my kids watching tv all day when they can be playing and learning in one way or another. She showed me around her home assuring me that her place was safe for me to leave my child, showing me her bathroom, the bedrooms which were set up with small bed i think she offers nighttime care too, her kitchen, the activities and toys she had for the children to play with. Art easels were set up, along with a comedian stage, tons of toys- for fine motor skills, sensory skills, hands and eye coordination, dramatic play, creative learning curriculum, and her menus she made were very healthy and organic. She assured me she shopped at whole foods and organic stores for herself so she'd want nothing but the same for the children she cared for. Even went as far to show me the inside of her fridge and pantries. I was thoroughly impressed already. She asked me to fill out a simple application form while she got to know Ariel a little bit. Pretty much just basic informative information about my child and I, her likes, dislikes, allergies and etc. I'd never really met a in home provider who'd been as prepared as she was. She even gave me a copy of her center policies and emergency evacuation plan when I was done with the paper work she needed from me. I told her I'd be back to pick Ariel up in a few hours, which she said was no problem and if I found myself out past a decent time or couldn't come back to get her that she offered overnight care mentioning the bedroom she'd shown me earlier she then went to the back and came out with a caddy of new hygiene materials and showed me a closet full of blankets, sheets and towels that she had just in case anyone was to ever stay over. While she went to return the caddy to it's home, Ariel made herself at home and start playing with these dolls that were laying around. I was totally shocked that she had been so comfortable there and had no problem staying with a stranger yet this made me feel super at ease leaving my child there. Ariel and I said our goodbyes and told her mommy would be back in a few hours. I told Ashonti to call me anytime if she needed anything or if Ariel was acting up but I think I was the one more homesick than Ariel. I called twice to check on her and both times Ariel seemed just at ease as she did when I left her so I left her alone to have fun while I enjoyed my girls night out. I picked Ariel up 6hours later, it was pretty late 11pm- to the same nice environment. No other kids were there when I dropped her off and one were there when I picked her up. Ariel and Ashonti were watching Peter Pan actually which was cool as long as she hadn't been watching tv all day. She had already eaten Dinner and taken her bath and was well on her to sleep when I came to her. It was the cutesy thing when Ashonti reminded Ariel not to leave the surprise they had made for me. She made me a flower craft out of some fuzzy craft lace and shapes :) I am seriously considering taking Ariel out of the daycare she's in to enroll her in Kids of Today Center, I love the positive influence she has on the kids. You can tell she really loves what she does she just so passionate about it. I hope you enjoy this review there are many more to come, I definitely am enjoying being back home in Dallas so far.

My two granddaughters went to this place and I would hardly call it a daycare. First incident my…read moredaughter went to pick up her girls and was notified that one of the girls stopped breathing....STOPPED BREATHING!! No call or anything but luckily that wasn't the case from the ignorant staff. Should have left then but we didn't. Then the oldest face was all scratched up from another kid. They stated they let him go but wouldn't let her see the camera's because of their policy so I asked to see the policy and was told by the attorney they would email it. Received the email and of course my spouse has a Doctorate in IT so we saw that it was just created that day so once I called them out on the lies they agreed to let her watch the cameras. Also this same day I was at the daycare to see the girls and no one mentioned that she was scratched or anything. I wasn't even out the parking lot when my daughter showed up and her kid was all scratched up. The owner and staff talked about how they love the girls so if this is how they show love please we don't need it. The next incident same daughter staff reported once she picked her up that she has a hang mail and is very protective of her finger. My daughter gets her kids dressed every morning so she would have noticed it but again no call to confirm if there was a problem with her finger so she wasn't made aware until she picked her up. Took her to the ER where her finger had to be drained. Of course they are good at not being held accountable. We understand kids do things, get hurt etc... but the lack of accountability, empathy and the "I don't give a F*ck" attitude is so unprofessional. This is just one of the very reasons we don't support black owned businesses. The staff are idiots and I'm being nice about calling them that. When she got her face scratched up the staff would avoid her, wouldn't talk to her without a witness which is fine but no one ever came to speak with us. Don't return calls to help parents ease their anxiety when dealing with the uneducated staff. Lastly today they were told the girls could not return due to another scratch and her fingernail that's about to fall off (that was expected due to her finger being jammed) if the staff knew anything they would know this is the expectation and you don't have to be educated to know that. This place should be avoided like the plague. The staff is uncaring, unprofessional, they lack any kind of empathy and they definitely are not held accountable. This Black owned business is a joke and I will continue to write bad reviews on every platform UNTIL we get a proper apology and a better reason for the quick dismissal of the girls that they so call love. Sincerely the wrong one grandmother I will not post pics of my babies face but just know the scratches are so deep on her face that the kid was on her for a bit before anyone bothered to notice. THESE ARE ALL FACTS!!!
