I am a working mother, so I was only able to take off twelve weeks after my son was born. Needless to say, I was terrified about the thought of leaving my infant child with someone other than myself. So I did what any mother in my position would do: I researched every childcare option under the sun and put potential providers under the microscope until I found one I could feel good about. I narrowed my search down to a handful of places, and then went to each one's website, DPFS, & interviewing and observing the centers firsthand. Firehouse Kids were very professional and took my requests to interview them seriously (twice, went there before my son was born and again after he was born). When speaking with Mrs. Ashley, director of Firehouse Kids, I felt that she understood what an important and difficult decision this was for me. The way that she explained what a serious decision it was for parents to place their angels in her care and how that knowledge guides and informs everything they do at Firehouse Kids really struck me. Every day I get a daily report of what he ate, diaper changes and how long he slept & the only suggestion or wish they did further would be to provide what he did, such as circle time or puzzles or coloring or played on the playground, etc.. I feel that information would make me feel like I know what he did all day and that I was somehow a part of it, which is something I know all working moms struggle with. So a year & half later Firehouse Kids is such an important part of our lives, Infant I teachers ( Mrs. Helen (absolutely AMAZING), Mrs. Kaitlyn & Mrs. Amanda who spoiled our baby boy in their care) & Infant II teachers (Mrs. Lorri (his 2nd mama), Mrs. Hillary & Mrs. Michelle who have been there for all his "first") has made our son so happy, & go above and beyond what is expected of them. As you can tell we grew very fond & attached to the teachers we dropped off our son with in the mornings. They do so many wonderful things to show that they value our trust and support of them. They're very caring and upfront and honest if they have issues or concerns, which I love because you have to keep the communication lines open.

My son came home with a deep cut on his finger and busted lip and no one could explain what happened. They offered to change his class which I did but never felt comfortable because the new classroom was not Visible from the outside as the first one was. I've witnessed caregivers being very rough with the children , including my own , when she was changing his diaper and didn't realize I was standing outside the window , she throw up down very aggressively and changed his diaper rough. I convinced myself I was being paranoid because he's my "baby" but i wasn't. As mothers we have intuition and we have to trust it. Mother to mother, find another daycare, there's tons of other options within miles. I will also try to upload the photo of my sons injuries and the email I sent addressing this matter.

Since the Centre is in the SW Medical complex, they cater to the babies of those employees but non-employees can bring their little ones here too. My two year old has only gone for a day but she absolutely loves it! I'll update later... Update: It's now 5 months since my initial post and I'm just so grateful for this place. I love that parents have to go through 3 passcode protected places to get into the facility: once to get into the parking garage if you go that route, once on the external door of the daycare, and once more after you've checked your little ones in with your fingerprint. Other daycares make you wait upfront and they go get your kid....not a fan. I like the built in accountability that places on staff. If a parent can walk in at any moment, staff really have to be fully aware of every action taken and word spoken. I have an infant and a preschooler who both love it. There are set schedules for each class and my infant has gotten super strong from all the tummy time she gets. She loves being around the other babies and they grin and giggle when they get to bounce up and down on their bouncers together. The staff are wonderful and I haven't seen any turnover. Parents of infants, take note, there's pretty much always a waiting list. I've talked to several moms who put their little ones on the waiting list while they were still pregnant...but you might get lucky.

Me and my husband are first time parent so we were very nervous. We absolutely love the staff in Rooms 100 and 150, as well as all of the wonderful front desk staff. Everyone has always been so kind, caring, and welcoming to our family. We are so sad that we are moving and have to leave, but this school will always hold such a special place in our hearts. I especially love the Watch Me Grow cameras and the updates throughout the day it always gave me peace of mind knowing I could check in on her and see how she was doing. As of October 4, 2022, this daycare has officially been shut down by the state. I received an email…read moreon this day at 5:28pm as I was pulling into the daycare to pick up my children. It's been almost 7 days since the center closed and no one is getting back to me about the refund of the tuition I paid. We were given no explanation as to why the daycare closed. In the email the director lied and said she didn't know why, but when she got more information she would let us know. I know this is a lie because the daycare AND Ms. Ibrahim were BOTH on probation by the state. Ms. Ibrahim wasn't allowed to step foot on the daycare premises at all, and had several violations against her. Something had been going on for quite some time and the parents were left in the dark about it all. I came into the center a couple weeks ago to sign some paper work and saw a sheet hanging up advising the center had been on probation since October 2021. When I asked a teacher about it she nonchalantly said oh it's nothing, it was just an issue with a teacher. My husband and I had already discussed taking them out this daycare because of other issues of neglect and unorganization, but this was the LAST straw. If you look on Texas health website, https://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child_Care/CCLNET/Source/Provider/ppComplianceHistory.aspx?fid=1316390&tab=2 , you will see the scary long list of violations and the confirmation of the center being on probation. Parents PLEASE check this website before taking your child to ANY daycare. I'm glad this place got shut down because the director Ms. Ibrahim had an evil user spirit and treated her employees poorly. I witnessed the way she talked to the BLACK teachers and she was very disrespectful. The teachers themselves said Ms. Ibrahim was racist. Just look at her responses to the negative reviews on google! I can only imagine how she treated the children, she probably talked to the students the same way. The turnover at this center was alarming. Every month my child had a new teacher and no one would ever introduce themselves, so I never knew who my children's teachers were unless I asked. The only one that was consistent was Ms. Jackson who we loved dearly and my children loved her too. She also put in her 2 weeks notice because of mistreatment from Ms. Ibrahim. This center lost a lot of good teachers due to the director,  Ms. Jones,  Ms. Tamika, Ms. Paige. Honestly the center went down hill once the teachers I just listed quit. After this, the director just started hiring anyone off the street it seemed like. They all looked young and ghetto, had ZERO communication skills, unlicensed, didn't introduce themselves and clearly unqualified to be dealing with children all day. There were always new teachers, and no one ever asked for ID when parents were picking up kids. They would give parents the wrong child, leaving children on the school bus. There was talk about one of the teachers abusing kids, so she was forced to quit. I don't believe any of these teachers were properly licensed and certified. If the teachers that work there are telling you to leave due to countless issues, then you know something is wrong. My children were given to me constantly with runny and crusty faces, hands dirty, clothes peed on. I'd go home and change them and would see crust in their diapers, looked like they werent wiped well at all. They would come home with random scratches and marks and no one at the center could explain how it happened. They had too many students per teacher and there was clear negligence with the teachers. My children didn't learn much attending this daycare. I regret not leaving sooner. I pray this center NEVER opens again and that Ms. Ibrahim never works at another daycare in her life.

The decision made by Melissa, the director, feels cold and calculated. For her to dismiss such an impactful caregiver and then deflect responsibility as if it wasn't her call is beyond unacceptable. Let's be honest--this is a daycare, not a corporation. These are real children with real emotional needs, and parents who deserve transparency and honesty. Ms. Candice showed up for these kids every single day, even when she had personal things going on--because she cared. You don't just replace that kind of heart.
