We arrived at 2pm on a warm Saturday and had 3 hours of crafts, a show at 3pm, water fun, climbing, and exploring. Not crowded at all. The crafts ran by Michael were catered to young children's fine motor skills and creativity. Michael was super knowledgeable and great with the kids. Fun place for children up to roughly age 6. It is a series of mini activities and parks designed for your children to explore. Most activities are free and some require a fee. There aren't many bathrooms, and it is a bit hard to go up the hill to all the mini park activities if you have someone with you who is handicapped or you have a lot of items to carry around with yourself. Additionally, as the majority of the place is outdoors and there is an area with water for the kids to wade in, i recommend dressing accordingly and bringing an extra set of clothing. Wow! This is a fantastic children's museum. Plethora of activities for kids that stimulates them intellectually (science and art) and physically (bikes, climbing, etc.). There is also programming (I E. sing along music was great with interactive individual drums). There is shade throughout the park and outdoor water activities on the hot days with AC indoors. Great selection of healthy food for a reasonable price at the snack bar. Plenty of parking available (assuming there is no events happening). Highly recommend this for at least one visit. read more

Came here Memorial Day weekend on a Saturday. Opening is the way to go because it gets busy around 11am and stays that way until close. At least there was an hour of decent crowd levels. There's staff in each area. They all seemed engaged and welcoming. Except for the water area in the back. Around lunch time it was difficult to get a table and seats. They definitely need more of that. Not a place for any kids under 3 in my opinion. It's not a museum - it's an indoor play center. The water feature is cool but bring a change of clothes and a bathing suit. Too many kids barefoot, unsafe, going too fast and splashing. There's signs to keep shoes on but no one is enforcing it. I'd come here again when my kid is a bit older like 6 so they're not getting stepped over by some of the bigger kids. read more

This is our second time coming here and we recommend it to anyone with young children to come and visit. The water stream area was a great hit and the workers were helpful by interacting with the children when playing at the "farm" or crafting area. You are able to bring your own snacks as well. This museum is so nice, very spacious parking. Easy to find, big park as you walk up and a lot of trees. You can have a nice picnic. This museum is one of the better museums for kids in the LA area. It's clean and well kept, it has a lot of really cool things for kids to do from climbing apparatuses to building blocks to crafts to learning about bugs and dinosaurs to digging up dinosaur bones. We really enjoyed the farming in the backyard area as well as the creek is always a favorite. Make sure to bring a change of clothes and a bathing suit with a hat and some sunblock. We love packing food for a picnic and the kids always enjoy going on the bikes and of course all of that things to do outside and it's just always such a beautiful day when we come here. My son convinced me to go to Kidspace after he watched a YouTuber named Blippi go there. Blippi (the character) is a cheery grown man that goes on all these random kid-focused adventures. He made an entire episode on things to do at Kidspace. Now, if I wasn't a 6'0" fat ass, I would absolutely be here weekly climbing up the tree house, crawling through the ant farm, racing tricycles, and all. Instead I have to sit in the cheap seats and live vicariously through my kids. I mean, there are some shared kid and grown up activities throughout the space but I ain't as interested in that. I do appreciate the interactions at Kidspace. Lots of STEM activities. There are teamwork activities. Sensory stimulating activities. Physical fitness activities. Nature exhibits. Plenty to do for at least a solid 2 hours. There is an eatery as well. All I got was soda and water, but they did have several food options to keep a kid at bay. You may have trouble finding Kidspace. It's in the same parking lot as the Rose Bowl but it's kind of far from the street where you can see it. First time here as a family of three. Parking lot is was pretty full but it was free! Prices moderate. Checking in was easy and smooth. It was a Saturday, so it was alot of people. My son absolutely enjoyed everything here and didn't want to leave. They have actives every where inside and out. The kids get to ride bikes, play in creeks, do hands on experiments, rock climb, pretend camp, and more. I do wish staff could monitor more of the activies. read more

Areas to farm, get wet, play, climb, be an ant, build, create, discover and learn. The staffs here were all very nice. There's a park right outside of the museum too. When we first moved to Pasadena, it was hard to get within 10 feet of another parent without them blurting out, "Oh you just moved here?! Have you BEEN TO KIDSPACE YET???" Woah, buddy. Your eyes are bulging out a little bit. Take a breath. That's how vehemently parents share their love for this place. It's got a metric ton of shit for kids to do, so let me rattle off a few highlights. Outdoors: -Physics areas (ball shooting, rope pulls, magnets, etc.) -Tricycle track with bikes and helmets. -Farm area complete with toy veggies and a henhouse to harvest from, and a market to "sell" at. -A sandbox area with a rowboat and blue sand "water." -Art area, where they always have an activity available. We did charcoal drawings last weekend and made beeswax candles a few weeks before that. -A small pond and stream that kids are always splashing around in on hot days. -A rope bridge that looks scarier than it is, so kids can get their adventurer energy out. -A campground with tents and pretend fires. Indoors: -Bee exhibit with an actual bee colony. You can watch them do their bee thang through the thick glass, with a tube to go out through the roof. -A number of building areas (blocks, suction cups, ramps, etc.) -A model ant tunnel built to toddler scale, so the kiddos can climb through and see what it's like to be an ant. -Educational nature area that usually has something seasonal. Right now, it's caterpillars and cocoons hatching into butterflies. -Climbing exhibit that goes WAY up. Not sure how high, my kid looks at it like, "Fuck that." There's more too, just go find out for yourselves. I love that they have special events, like the honeybee festival and butterfly celebrations. Also, very cool that they have free admission on the first Friday of the month. They could cop out and make the free day on like Tuesdays when they're already slower. But making it on a Friday, which is more accessible to a lot of folks, is the right thing to do. The cafe ain't bad either, with a surprising amount of yummy plant-based options. A nice giftshop, a lot of shaded areas, water play for the hot days. And maybe most impressive, the majority of the employees are super nice, even though they're surrounded by kids losing their minds all day. The only downside to Kidspace is something out of their control: kids with shitty manners. Or maybe better put, the parents who let their kids be shitty. This is why we almost never go on the weekends. They cap entry, but it still gets crazy. I think some parents just walk in, free their children, and then space out on their phones for a few hours. You've got kids bumping into others, stealing things from other kids, throwing water. We've been bringing our son here since he was 2, and I've had to ask 6- or 7-year-olds way more times than I'd like to back off and stop taking things from my kid or knocking him over. It is what it is, and I don't think Kidspace really should be in charge of watching other people's children, so just be prepared to deal with it. The majority of the parents are courteous and kind, engaging with their kids, but sometimes it only takes one rampaging unchecked child to fuck it up for the rest of us. Also, Kidspace, please put some dim lights in the damn ant tunnel. I'm not a fan of having to climb through there with my kid, holding my phone flashlight, because it's so dark and he can't see. I've witnessed the same discussion with other parents who begrudgingly enter the tiny tunnel just to be a light source. Also, you know the ball shooting exhibit is super popular, it's always got a line, so add another air gun! You have a spot for it, make it happen. It would lessen the stress on those of us trying to get our kids to wait patiently, while the occasional asshole parent acts like there is no line, letting their kid shoot like 50 balls for 10 minutes. Overall, it's a really nice place for kids to have fun and learn. Kidspace goes out of their way to keep everything clean, they've got a ton of parking, and there's a really nice park and playground right outside. I think we went twice before realizing the annual membership was the way to go. It pays for itself after just a few visits, plus you get 10% off at the cafe and gift shop as well as early access to special events. We're fans. Our three-year-old is all about it, he's always down for a Kidspace visit. I prefer a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday morning right when they open, but that may change when the summer camp program kicks off. No matter what, though, Pasadena is lucky to have such a place for our kiddos to learn through having a ton of fun. read more

Truly one of the COOLEST places to bring your kids. Very well organized, and each exhibit promotes learning, engagement, and of course, fun. Their indoor areas are great, but my little one is a true fan of everything they offer in their outdoor space. From bikes, do water play, to musical instruments and a rope bridge, they really have it covered. They also incorporate seasonal events and that makes their space even more fun! As a Pasadenan who used to go to the original Kidspace at what now is McKinley elementary school many years ago, and now bring my kids to this new location; I just feel so nostalgic and happy that my children get to explore the wonderful world I grew up with! Although entirely different, the museum is designed to motivate children's learning with play and socializing. I have membership for my family and my teen and toddlers love it very much. We have seen this place go through its seasons and love everything it provides and the space is great. However, please please, Kidspace management, close the bathrooms for remodel! All of them, they are literally disgusting and almost insulting. Not enough space for so many children and adults. The toilets are on the brink of breaking. I just went last Saturday and even the cafe needs new employees and a whole new menu, don't waste your money on the food there; it's not tasty, not presentable. I also think the inside area needs a new concept, try to bring back a play supermarket, a news anchor play area, anything but just teddy bears all over the floor. Wow, I cannot believe our luck in stumbling upon this place as an activity to do with our kids on Friday (their school had a staff learning day). Thank you to the wonderful staff who keep this place exciting and organized. There were SO many things to do! We spent 6 hours there from 10am-4pm without leaving. In fact, the kids did not want to leave! The indoor space was nicely AC'd as it was going to be hot. The front yard was well spaced and engaging. The food was great! Our favorite was the back yard. The kids dipped their feet in the flowing stream, created magical potions, played fantastic pretend shops and made friends in the market, pretended to be pirates, fished in the blue sandy waters, and created a bartering system with the newly discovered gems. Then they ended the day climbing the tree house and racing tricycles along the paved pathways. Wish we had a place like this in the Bay and we will definitely be visiting again! My toddler really enjoyed this place. They have a lot of sensory activities for your little ones. The employees are very friendly and make your little ones feel comfortable and enjoy the fun. They had a small Halloween parade in which they encouraged the kids and parents to be involved with a few props. We've been to Kidspace maybe 4-5 times over the last two years and have seriously considered purchasing membership for our then 5- and 3-year olds. Not only is it close by in Pasadena, but it has events regularly on the weekends and school holidays. It's a great way to kill time, or save money on separate classes (music? Mommy and me? Arts and crafts?) What I really like about kidspace, compared to other comparable children's museums, is the outdoor area with physics and other bands-on experiments/activities. It's educational, entertaining, and gets the kids outdoors. The outdoor area has gardening, wet play, and some times even snow/bubble play. This area is great for kids up to upper elementary. What I dislike about kidspace is the inside. The indoor area as a play area, a couple of arts and crafts corners, and this natural science area with an ant farm, fossils, and other collections. There's a performance play area, a magnatile area, and various other "corners", much like a daycare center. However, kidspace is not a daycare, and the indoor facilities feel like it's for toddlers and preschoolers only. If you look around, it really is mainly occupied by Nannie's and SAHMs with their babies. Perhaps if I were one or the other I'd have a higher opinion of kidspace. read more

We have a membership here because it's one of the few places I know that is an outdoor museum. As a mother of a toddler in a pandemic, you get really desperate, lol. When we had the mask mandate outdoors, they were very strict in enforcing it here, even for kids. It's really uncomfortable to wear a mask when it's so hot, and there's certain areas that are not shaded here. In general, this is just a really huge, great space. It's designed very nicely, and I like how there are themes every quarter. It's nice that they get a little craft usually. They recently let people inside. It's not our favorite things inside, but at least it's something else to do! This place is a must, because there's a little bit of everything for people. Our school comes to Kidspace every school year and it usually is a 5 star experience but this field trip was anything but stellar. First of all, I will start with the billing department. We contacted the billing department and scheduled the field trip. They then sent the school an invoice. Our school district sent a purchase order for the field trip 2 weeks before the payment due date; however, the billing department waited until one week before the field trip to notify our school that there was a problem with payment. Apparently, they don't take purchase orders... the day of our field trip, it was raining heavily the entire day. We were told by Kidspace that there would be indoor activities for our kindergarten students to do. That was not true. There was one little indoor area and our students had to compete with the general public to use what was available. There was zero thought given to a rainy day protocol for field trips. Our students were in the rain 90 percent of the time. Nothing was done by Kidspace to protect our students from heavy rain conditions. We are talking about 33 five year olds. I like Kidspace but they really need to upgrade their communication practice in the billing department and create a rainy day protocol for field trip students. They could have taught a class on the caterpillar and allowed the kids to do an art project. 2 hours in the rain is unacceptable. I gave 2 stars for the staff on site. They were friendly but not trained as to what to do on a rainy day. Do better Kidspace! read more

For a 1 1/2 year old this is my review. Not the best place for a child younger than 3-4. There are people who bring there kids here and just leave them unattended. I have to say a few older kids were trying to bully my baby, particularly in the area of the foam blocks. Not much to do for a young child, the space has a few different ways to make bubbles but over all it wasn't anything special for us. Not much water play beyond the little river areas they have, and a very tiny playset for young children. Everything is outside and is was very hot, not much shade and we were there as soon as they opened. Generally I think I won't try this again until my kid is way older. Just take them to the free park and playset directly outside, she had more fun there. read more

Wow, this place is huge ! You can spend so much time here's there is so much to do! General admission is $14 for each person, and they do have different packages or deals to purchase if you would like as well. I believe a year membership fee would be $199, which also enables you to bring up to 4 people in each visit, as well as receiving discounts on multiple difference purchases. I have only so far been to a few indoor playgrounds, but this place was great. You can ride a tricycle, walk in a mini river, play with clay, or even look at different reptiles and rocks. You could climb kid friendly trees in doors, uncover fossils, or dress up in some different clothes and props they have. It was great to know they also have staff all around looking out. Wish these types of places existed when I was young. Still need to do a lot of exploring, will definitely update my review the next time around. read more

Came here today for a quick 3 hour visit, we only got a chance to play indoors since it started to rain as we were about to explore the outside area. I guess this means we'll need to come back again in the future to play some more. We got free 2-person admission (valid if you are a Los Angeles Public Library member), which is really awesome. Otherwise, the general admission is $14.95 for adults. If you use AAA card, your admission is only $12.95 - which is a good deal too. There are 5 rooms in their indoor area 1) fossils, learn about feces, and plants, etc. room w/ tables and chairs 2) imagination arts/crafts room with tables and chairs, it's supervised by 2 staff members 3) land cruiser + climbing area + underground excavation / anthropology room 4) stage, puppet show, building blocks room 5) 2 tall climbing structures for kids of all sizes, even adults. This indoor area can occupy the kid for hours on end. Then there's an outdoor area that we didn't even get to explore, so we'll come back for that in the future! Parking was free. read more
