Even adding money to the snack shack card is easy. I've also been put on the wait list a few times and had no problem with that proecss. On Thursdays, there's limited parking and they literally wait at the sidewalk helping get the kids in quickly so you don't get a ticket. The people here are a total class act and really seem to love what they do. My kids come home FILTHY and raving about their teachers: Puddles, Butterfly, Scooby, Walrus, Ant to name a few that I can remember this week :) They also love the archery, the arts and crafts, and of course, the snack shack. Newt, I beleive runs the place. He greets the kids with such enthusiasm and respect and kindness. We even had an incident with our older kid last year and received a phone call explaining the situation with my kiddo right there. He was firm, authoratative, explained what needed to be done next time, but completely appropriate and at the same time reassuring to my son that they were on the same team and in the end, all was good. Did my son cry? Yes. He also clearly got the point, has not made the same mistake, and still loves going to Camp. It was handled perfectly and I really appreciated it. I've seen a handful of comments from several years back with bad reviews about customer service. This was before my time, but I can say those reviews feel foreign to the experience I've had here for now 2 summers. Can't recommend this place enough.

Great camp! Love the location, the program and the staff is great…read more Kids get to be kids and get dirty, do crafts, play, climb and be summertime end of day exhausted. Trees keep it shady and give it an out in the forest feel.

I thought for some reason it was on my end but I used 2 different phone numbers and same thing happened. I then decided to visit the physical location - non-resistance. I requested someone else to make a call on my behalf- answering service comes up asks wjo is calling but doesn't connect the call. went through the website to buy registration tokens - not available or too complicated for first time guests.

My daughter had an interest in coding when her elementary school introduced Scratch-based programming in Technology class. She was adept at it and so we were looking for after-school and weekend enrichment classes to supplement her learning. ThoughtStem was one of the first companies to offer coding classes to young students in San Diego. My daughter started taking classes from them on Sundays at UCSD; it was a fun self-paced program with college students guiding them if needed. My daughter also took other classes from them that were offered through her school district's after-school enrichment program. Since then, my daughter has continued to pursue studies in AP computer science, engineering, and robotics. She is even volunteering to help other young students learn to code! I am so grateful to companies like ThoughtStem, also know as MetaCoders (They are now a non-profit organization. Woohoo!), for igniting an interest in science and technology for my daughter!

Mama Bear Vent... I…read morewas looking into summer camp for my boys. I called Outpost thinking an outdoor camp would be fun for them. I spoke to Sam (4/11/2024) and inquired about inclusion programs and what supports they had for autistic children. Here's how that went: Oh, I'm sorry, we don't have inclusion programs. If your child is autistic, they just won't fit in with us. We don't offer aides. If your child cannot follow instructions, they won't do well. I get it - it may be hard for the kids to follow instructions. Ok, what if I hire an aide for them? No - we've had aides in the past and they just get in the way of the child learning and it makes them stand out too much. In 19 years of parenting 3 children on the spectrum, have I EVER come across someone who would talk to parents and about kids like this. This is NOT a summer camp that requires skills. Hiking, forts, mud and exploration are our foundational principles is what is says on their website. Funny that they would say: *It is important to us to be inclusive. We invite our non-binary and transgender campers to select whichever program would fit them best - Day Camp Girls or Day Camp Boys. To each their own, but I would STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

We had about 100 people attending for a Luncheon, Program, Silent Auction, Critter Encounter and Raffle. There was plenty of space indoors for 11 tables and we put one table outdoors for people who preferred to sit outside. Our auction items were outside. It was a big success and everyone loved the venue with it's James Hubbell stained glass windows and doors and lots of light, in a lovely natural setting with all the big trees. They allowed us to set up the night before which really helped. The staff was available to fix a couple things before our event started. We also rented plates, glasses and silverware from them. We brought our own ethnic caterer this time but we have used their catering the two previous years and it was very good, healthy, farm to table cuisine. They could use a couple new round tables and half of the chairs could be upgraded but they had plenty of tables for dining, auction items, raffle items , food, dessert, check in, etc. All in all, we were very happy with the venue and are planning to use it again next year as it is the best venue we have used so far in Julian for our purposes.

This past weekend I attended one of their family camps with my husband and two young children. It was magical. They thought of everything! The food was delicious! In addition, there were always choices for my picky eaters and allergy-friendly options for my spouse. Activities included archery, water games, swimming, ice cream making, farm animal visits, painting, bingo, and more. With two active kids who are three years apart, it is often a struggle for us to go places. The kids both have such different interests and attention spans. This was the best vacation we have taken as a family. Everyone got to have fun, feel excited, and be safe. I cannot recommend Camp Stevens enough. A huge thank you to the staff! We will definitely be back.
