We were still reeling from the incredible dining experience at Kie-Gol-Lanee in Logan square though we frequent the original location in Uptown. This authentic Oaxacan gem is a must-visit for anyone craving traditional Mexican flavors. We loved the tamales and the Tlayuda was a game changer. The crispy tortilla, tender cecina meat, black beans and quesillo were melded together in harmony. Luigi, the mixologists and our server at the same time was so talented crafting unique concoctions that perfectly complement the bold flavors of Oaxacan cuisine. The mezcal shots at the end of our dinner culminated our exceptional experience. I highly recommend this place for a different take on Mexican flare.

A fun vibrantly decorated restaurant with delicious food and beautifully presented drinks! Our group was feeling adventurous and tried the grasshoppers! Tlayudas were yummy and the traditional dessert (lime was flavor of the day) was delightful and refreshing! Reminded me of flan but I liked the texture of it more than that of flan. The dining area isn't that large but it did get quite loud.

Hidden gem alert! Ok well all truth me told, I love mole of all kinds. And indeed all kinds they did have. We made a quick reservation OpenTable and they had seating for that night. Traffic got the best of us but they were understanding and sat us. We saw that the place is quite cozy but colorful and vibrant. There had to have been less than 50 tables. The walls had beautiful murals on them. I ordered the Paloma that reminded me of summer almost instantly. We ordered the green mole pork tamale and pollo with the mole rojo. The tamales came out with the banana wrapping and I just knew we were in for a treat. The mole verde (green) was my favorite because it wasn't too sweet and had deep flavors. I really wish we got to try the tlayuda but it was just the hubs and I and we did not want to over do it. For our main course, we ordered the arrachera with the huilacoche mole and knob onions. That meal knocked it out the park for me, perfectly cooked and that mole was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Let's also not to forget the honorable mention, tortillas made in house, perfect touch. The service was spot on and we date a great date night. I highly suggest you come here as we will be back as well to try more of the menu.

Residing down the block, we've seen numerous restaurants come and go at this location, so we had to question another Mexican Restaurant, this one with an odd name to recall,, moving in. Soon after opening, it became clear by both the numbers in the room/outside patio, and by reports from neighbors and friends, that this was not your average restaurant. The service was great, and our server Elio couldn't have been nicer, more informed, or accommodating. Food was outstanding, with many bests from starters to dessert. The Mezcal produced by the family owners, was my daughter's all-time favorite margarita, with a blast of Smokey flavor in their own freshly squeezed, tamarind juice . My wife thoroughly loved the Horchata. The tortilla chips were the best I've had, and both salsas were delicious. It came with a complementary bean dip that was warm, packed with flavor, and velvety in texture. Nopales salad was fresh and refreshing. All their starters on the menu looked inviting. The Tlayudas, a Oaxaca favorite, was so delicious, you don't wanna stop eating. We had the vegetarian version with plenty marinated mushrooms, grilled zucchini. Oaxaca cheese, all in a healthy portion. The menu has a wide array of vegetarian options. The Enchiladas De Pollo with Mole arrived as a beautiful presentation, and the wife said it was amazing. The daughter also said the Tres Leches was her all time favorite, and she's had many. The restrooms were spacious and clean, and the decor of the restaurant included art evoking the mood and culture of Oaxaca region. We will definitely be back here soon to try other appealing offerings. Next time with our foodie friends that have been talking highly of this restaurant.

We came for restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised. It came with a margarita as the first dish. I have not seen anyone do that and loved it. The staff were very attentive and checking in on us. The decor made me feel like I was in Mexico. It made it feel even more authentic. However, back to the food. DELICIOUS. There wasn't anything I didn't like. We came out so full. Would highly recommend.

Came here for brunch w a girlfriend and am glad that Kie-Gol-Lanee opened up a second location here in Logan Square. Items on the lunch/brunch menu all sounded intriguing and I had a hard time choosing what I wanted. I ended up going for the huevos con nopales and my friend got the chilaquiles with chorizo. Appreciated the free chips and bean dip that were on the house and our entrees were massive - we both couldn't finish everything on our plates! My dish came with corn tortillas made in house that i enjoyed- I most likely won't order the same dish as my eggs were overly scrambled and tasted rubbery. Service lagged at times despite it being slow in the restaurant and I had to wave down our server a few times. Overall, I've enjoyed this restaurant during dinner service and I would come back to try out their other brunch/lunch menu items.

It was a lovely atmosphere, attentive service, and unique dish options, flavors, choices. My friend and I really enjoyed our nopales + chilaquiles dishes as well as chips + black bean dip offered as appetizer. It was not crowded on the Saturday afternoon that we went and there were so many dishes we wanted to try, I'll want to go again! Great spot for a catchup/casual hang. Averagely priced and/or a bit on the more expensive side for Mexican cuisine, but you're purchasing the thoughtfully curated menu / top notch service. Highly recommend!

My partner and I decided to check this restaurant out for brunch during restaurant week. I had previous heard that their other location was on the bib gourmand list so we were eager to try and it lived up to the hype. We had great service that was attentive to water refills, generally bubbly and going above to even wipe the table crumbs between courses. The food - yum! Everything we had was delicious. The juice you could tell was fresh in the mimosas. The strawberry guava was particularly scrumptious. The main course had great flavor and was the perfect size. The dessert is really what pushed this experience to the top. Delicious - we tried the tres leches french toast and the budin de manzana and they were both show stoppers. I also highly appreciated that the menu was very clearly labeled with any allergens and someone was food intolerances!

    Strawberry- guava margarita

Food was phenomenal! My families favorite Mexican restaurant in Wilmette closed down a few years ago, and after trying kie-gol-lanee I was excited to tell them I have found a replacement! The guacamole was awesome, super fresh. If you like a sweeter margarita, try the strawberry guava. I'm partial to more of a citrus flavor, so it wasn't my favorite, but still good. The mole enchiladas were the star of the show for me. The restaurant itself is cute, fitting around 40-50 people so it's more intimate. They also have outdoor sidewalk patio seating for nice weather days.

I've been to this location 4 times yet 4 difference restaurants. There's something about it that businesses don't last. The newest edition, kie gol lanee, has some innovative drinks, good quality food thought I did think a punch of flavor could be added to the beef tacos, and very pleasant staff. Polite and professional service with knowledge about their food. Calm place with good music and decent food. Happy to have them in Logan.

Super flavorful and delicious! We went for restaurant week and they started us off with margaritas and chips and bean dip. We got the Chorizo Tlayuda and it was light, crunchy, spicy and very filling. I would definitely get this again. Service was super quick and the staff were friendly. Decor was bright and colorful.

They had a terrific Valentine's Day dinner $95 for two people which included a small amuse-bouche each, an appetizer to share, individual entrees, and a dessert to share. We loved the crispy broccolini and were fighting over it. The entrees were huge portions and packed with flavor. I consider myself a scallop connoisseur and in all the restaurants we've ever been in, these scallops were cooked beautifully. They had a perfect sear to them on the outside but cooked perfectly on the inside as well, 10/10 no notes this is the scallop I will compare all future scallops to. And the duck confit, oh my...we also fought over this dish which paired incredibly well with beans to our surprise. Chocolate cake had a beautiful strawberry sauce on the bottom. Everything was incredible including the service. Cobblestone remains our favorite in the area and is loved by all the locals. Thank you for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner.

It was not an "Amuse bouche" which is a single bite item, it was much more but I'm not complaining about that! The appetizer was grilled octopus over sweet potato mash. I learned that day that sweet and grilled octopus is not a good mix. It was nearly gross. I picked the octopus up and tried to brush off as much of the sweet potatoes and possible. The octopus tasted good but was over cooked. My main was the branzino. It was charred to a crisp and full of bones. It did not taste good and was extremely difficult to eat. I did not taste the German chocolate cake for dessert but was told it was dry and people barely touched it. My husband and others are our table got short rib goulash, which was served like a steak with gravy. It wasn't tender like short rib should be. He said the flavor was good at least. Someone got the fish and chips and said it was flavorless. Someone else got the burger and said it was also charred and over cooked. Over all, pretty disappointed. Cute place with decent service. Hopefully this was just an off night.

The ambiance is really nice without feeling too "stuffy". Bar was gorgeous and service was friendly and helpful, allowing my boyfriend to sample some wines before going in on some bottles. Prices were what you'd expect for a trendy natural wine bar. The complimentary corn nuts in the antique dish were a cute touch. The charcuterie board with mixed meat and cheese was really small though. Only three pieces of cheese for five people... it made it feel like an awkward fight over who'd get to try some. The gluten free crackers were appreciated though. We ended up ordering more food including the "party tray" which I would describe more as charcuterie nachos. We didn't really know what to expect with this one so we got the canned mussels but it really would've tasted better with the prosciutto instead. It included a whipped cheese, olives, and cornichons piled onto potato chips. Less of a tray and more of a nacho-style dish. If we return next time we're in town, I'd skip the food and focus more on the wine. Beyond that, it was a fun time!
