This place is right off the Damen brown line stop. Down the block from Lawrence Ave. It used to be a different restaurant a couple of years ago and it shut down, but a couple bought it and revamped the spot. It was three of us meeting for dinner and some drinks. My friend had white wine, hubby had an Espressotini, and I the watermelon-cucumber marg. We ordered the cauliflower ceviche, the Cauliflower wings, and the Brussels sprouts as appetizer. Then as an entree, my friend had the Jalisco Burger, hubby had the Salmon, and I a Salmon Caesar Salad. I personally loved the salad and the appetizers were great. Everyone else ate ALL their food, so I assume they also enjoyed it. The location was actually having an 80s night and there was a Dj and space for dancing. There were some people there dress for the themed night and it was just a great vibe. Talking with our friend and eating made us lose track of time and then it was time to leave but before we did, we met one of the owners who actually recommended I come by and visit. (Shoutout to Marcos ) He is the most warm and sunny person, and he was so grateful we actually came by. We had a shot and honestly I'd come back because of him. He told us a little bit about him, his family and about the restaurant backstory. I truly recommend you coming here, you will have a great time. I stopped by Monday since they were donating 15% of tabs to The Friendship Center food pantry. I'd been meaning to come by since they so generously donated mac and cheese to them for the Thanksgiving meals for the hungry in our community. It's a nice place. Kind of a sports bar but seems a little nicer than your average storeys bar. Service was friendly and helpful. I got the vegetarian ceviche, and it was delicious! It was served with aioli and a healing serving of chips. I've never eaten seafood and been vegetarian for over 30 years, but my boyfriend had a taste and also thought it was good and said they got the right flavor profile. We visited Saturday night, just the Fiancè and I for my birthday. I had the sliders (2 Jalisco burgers and a platform burger), my Fiancè had the 10 buffalo wings with bleu cheese crumbles and ranch. The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. I also ordered a Smokey lady cocktail which was nice, I normally go for fruity, sweet drinks and this had that Smokey flavor which was very good! The service was very fast and friendly, I cannot remember our servers name but he was friendly and answered any questions we had. Now the best part, the owner Marcos, super friendly and kind! He came over to our table and talked with us for a bit and provided recommendations for bars as we planned to bar hop! His recommendations are top tier as we visited lemon and it did not disappoint! Marcos was very generous with us and made the start of our night great! The restaurants atmosphere is welcoming, we were greeted as soon as we walked in, the music was going, and the drinks were flowing. The Doctor, Queen and I discovered this place one night while looking for a place for a meal before going to The Davis for a movie. I remember this use to be The Rail, so wasn't expecting much. I have to saw I was not expecting much beyond a neighborhood bar, but I was pleasantly surprised. There is a cute outdoor area on the sidewalk, but we opted to sit inside. It looks like they did some remodeling as the place had a new feel to it. Although I made a reservation due to it being a Friday, it was not required as the inside was open as most people were sitting outside. There is plenty of seating inside in addition to the long bar area. We started with the Chicken Tinga Nachos (nachos, house made chips. Tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream, cheese sauce). I asked for guacamole, which was extra, but it totally made the dish. While this is supposed to be a starter, it could easily be an entree as it was filling and delish. For entrees, The Doctor got the Platform Burger (House made patty, Cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions, Dijon mayo on a brioche bun), I got the Gnocchi Bolognese with grilled chicken, and The Queen got the grilled Salmon with a ratatouille of chickpeas, zucchini, yellow squash and a pomodoro sauce. The burger was nicely prepared as was the salmon. I am not a fan of ratatouille as a rule, but this was very good. The gnocchi was very nice as was the Bolognese sauce, very meaty. The grilled chicken was good and actually grilled and tasty. I will say a standout for me was the fries The Doctor got with his burger....dang they were good! Hot, crispy and just tasty, like Micky D's fries use to be back in the day. For dessert we split a key lime pie. Nothing to write home about, but it was okay. Decent selection of wines and beers, and having bubbles on there is a winner for me. Service was great and there is plenty of street parking, so this will make the list of hangouts to eat at. read more

This place has great potential! It's in a convenient spot near the train with lots of parking. The staff members are all very friendly and kind. The menu is the only thing I see changing as they find their stride. Nothing was bad, most of it was fine. If we lived within walking distance we'd probably be by more often. They offer a weekday happy hour, so I think I'll be back for drinks and apps. As they offer more / new / different items I'd like to come back to try them. A random thing: their fries are REALLY good! I eat a lot of fries so...trust me. The atmosphere is very cozy while still being spacious. Lots of tables of 4-6 people while we were there. So, we basically live here now! It has the trifecta of a great place: good food, fantastic servers and a *dart board*! I always get the cheese sticks and buffalo wings. I am glad something new opened in this space, as its location is perfect for commuters and neighborhood walkers alike. I didn't have high expectations, seeing as it's atmosphere is pretty sports bar-y, but I was pleasantly surprised. The space is huge, so they'll probably rarely have an issue with overcrowding. I did like the giant projector set up in the side room; that would be fun to watch with a group of friends. The food selection is somewhat small, and I was hoping for a little more variety. All the wings seem to be made with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce, which turned me off at first, but they are well-made and still tasted good. The cheese sticks also seemed higher quality than some bars. This brand new place in Ravenswood will become a neighborhood staple. I went in for their soft opening this past week and had a wonderful experience -- I'll definitely be back now that they are "officially" open and will have the full menu available. A few notes: - Food: standouts for me were the salmon with butternut squash purée (this was delicious!) and the spring rolls. The calamari was also very good and their ragu sauce was delicious. - Drinks: I had a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned and a (mezcal, I think) cocktail called The Smoky Lady. First, the food was very good. My party tried several dishes including the Jalisco Burger, which has a rich and spiced flavor that continues rolling after you have a bite. It's served with sweet potato fries. Caramelized cauliflower wings with mango habanero was unique. It's fantastic for those who like a more layered flavor experience with the sauce, crisps on the surface, and soft warm cauliflower center. The Chili was savory with extra helping of beans. The ground meat was soft and tasty (Personally I'd love a way to kick up the heat or smoke or add red onions for a punch in top). It was served with fresh tortilla chips which made it a sort of a nacho experience. All three items were good to very good. The service was excellent for our visit. The manager greeted us, and told us the story of how the location changed hands. He mentioned the food quality and the menu goals. Our server literally knew everything on the menu, sat with us while helping us order, and was friendly and chill. Bus service was on the spot. Everyone in our party left feeling good because in large part of the waitress and Host manager. Beer list is decent, plenty to choose along with some game day deals on domestics.. you can control your budget as you like. I would like to see a local winter stout or holiday Christmas ale. Prices: few bucks higher than a standard pub... We didn't know it was a gastropub until we ordered so come here if you want to indulge in the food vs a watering hole alone. We remotely planned a baby shower (from Florida and Michigan) for our daughter who lives in the neighborhood. Jason and Marcos couldn't have made it any easier for us. They were very responsive to our email questions, flexible in their terms regarding party size and were so helpful to us the day of the event in setting the room up as we desired. No contracts, deposits, food or drink minimums like other venues. They just offer a great product without the hassle and fuss. We received many compliments from attendees on the food choices we made (chicken piccata, pasta pomodoro and caesar salad) and provided boxes to allow us take out for leftovers. The servers were attentive and were very engaged with serving our needs. The space was perfect for our party of 26 where we had privacy and didn't impact other diners. We felt like it was a very good value for the offerings and size of our party. It's a great venue for a casual gathering with great food, and excellent service. Platform 47 is a great addition to the neighborhood. We'll be visiting this summer and look forward to dining ant Platform 47 again. read more
