The beginning of the process with kiella was smooth, up until a month after we moved in. We have already had problems with the water heater, fridge, and yard. Heart of Texas who is contracted with kiella didn't grade our yard correctly and still haven't fixed the problem after 4 months of owning the home and say they are "working on the problem," when going back through paperwork I happened to find our plot plan for the house and noticed that the fence was a lot further up on the plot plan than our fence actually is right now. Contacted them about this and they stated "Sorry for the delay. I spoke with the superintendent and the VP of construction and they said that the plat shows the furthest point they could put the fence. They are placed for the best curb appeal and for them all to pretty much line up with the next home. You can always move the fence up but, that's is not something we will do. I hope this helps." When it is very misleading to put one thing on the plot plan and do something completely different. Not to mention we paid a lot premium for our corner house because of the big backyard and they skimped us on it by not putting the fence where it was intended to go. When it comes to the yard, whenever is in charge of fixing the problem they just walk in our backyard which now has a lock on it because he have a dog. They have no sense of privacy and are horrible at communication. Every meeting I have had with Kiella Homebuilders was great. They answer all my questions and keep me updated on the current build.

Updated review since the last one two months ago. For some reason, my last review isn't visible to the public. Odd huh? Since my last review, they have a new warranty coordinator Sydney Cable who is light-years better than her predecessors, but even that isn't saying much because the people before her (Regina and Shannon) were basically non-existent and replied to warranty emails 2-3 weeks later and that's with me reaching out asking about the status. She's the only positive interaction I've had with the company and that's just due to her actually doing her job. The more I deal with Kiella, the more I notice how unprofessional they are. I have not lived in the house for a year yet and they're blaming majority of my warranty issues on "fair wear and tear" and the house "settling". I understand the difference between the house settling and the items not being properly installed in the first place. First of all, my Wife and I are barely home due to work and we have one dog that sleeps all day. What wear and tear is possible to affect the WHOLE house under a year? It's just a poor excuse on Kiella's behalf so they wouldn't have to do tedious repair jobs correctly that take time away from them building more houses with sub-par contractors. I have found several more defects since my last post. Some of the items I requested to be fixed have just been completed by their warranty department. A lot of the work that was done, I could have done myself after watching YouTube tutorials. Their "repairs" are sub-grade and even myself with no experience can do a better job. At this point, I'm tired of missing work and allowing people in my home just to perform an even more shoddy job. We have barely occupied this home for 8 months but "fair wear and tear" and "house is settling" is thrown around so loosely. Kiella should be ashamed of themselves and I hope their happy at night knowing they cut corners, used cheap materials, and hired incompetent contractors to take advantage of the housing market and buyers. One of the neighbors that moved into the new house down the street has a picture of a lemon in their yard and on their garage. They just moved in around September. Let that sink in.....I watched Kiellas hired contractors build both sides of the streets since I've been here, and it doesn't take a genius to realize the contractors working on the houses aren't very skilled. The fact that I can repair almost all of the damage/improper installation better than they can shows their level of incompetence. What's worse, Kiella tries to fault the buyer for not marking defects with blue tape on the final walk through. What is the one-year warranty for if they're not going to honor it. They pick and choose what they want to "repair". I talk to some of the neighbors around the area and they all have similar gripes. As I bike or drive though the neighborhood, I can see several defects on other houses from the street. If you're reading this and thinking about buying a Kiella home I would recommend not doing so, but if you happen to, I would inspect the house thoroughly personally and with a 3rd party home inspector. Hold them to a standard because it's obvious Kiella doesn't have their own. There are several outlets, switches, vents, etc. that are crooked. Our kitchen island is even crooked! How does that happen, but guess what? It doesn't fall under warranty due to it being "cosmetic". I'm the least pickiest person, but when I pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a NEW home, I should not be expecting to make several repairs. I would have bought an older home for half the price had I known about their poor builds. For current Kiella home owners, be prepared, their repair work is questionable. Their go-to repair kit and solution is to caulk and paint over anything and everything. How can you caulk and paint over split wood caused by the installer not using the right nail or nail gun?? We noticed a long piece of rebar {steel rod} sticking at an upward angle about 45 degrees 2 feet out of the side of the foundation. We called our sales rep, and asked if they could come and cut it off. It is a safety hazard, as it could easily injure someone, take out an eye, or even kill a kid running after a ball. She told us she would contact building supervisor. Well that was Jan 12, 2 weeks ago. We haven't even gotten a response. We also sent an e-mail, no response there either. I have since taken care of it myself. Really disappointed in the lack of their customer service. You can't even leave a voice mail, as the mailboxes are full. They need a person to handle the communication, phones, e-mails, etc. full time. Piss poor business. We are considering reporting to the BBB. read more

A lemon Kiella Home. I purchased this home in Sept of 21. The Home builders Scott and Jeff Kiella have the worst customer service Sales manager (Selina Powell) and Construction manager (Brandon). I Truly call Kiella home builders predators. They pray on the first time home buyer, praying they don't know anything about buying a house for the first time. The sale department kept asking me was I a first time home buyer (NO).... When it came down for them to repair the Damage THEY caused to this house they (Brandon) refused to make the necessary repairs to have a satisfied customer. I was told by Selina that we (Kiella Homes) don't like to make repairs after you close. Kiella Home Builders are so cheap they charge for sodding the back yard and even to install basic gutters (entry area's). Kiella Home Builders slogan should be "Were predators and you get what you pay for". I can Honestly say Kiella Home builders are worst than KB (Homes). I visited from California to Belton Texas in October 2019 and knew right away I wanted to make this my new home for my family. My wife and I immediately contacted Kiella homebuilders and started the process of choosing our perfect home. Before we returned to California we have already chosen the home and plot we wanted all we needed was a contract. October passed November passed finally towards the end of December we got a contract. Still till this day I do not understand why it took 2 and half months to draw up a contract they were quick to collect the initial payment. So awesome they will start building NOPE not until the middle of march did they have the underground plumbing complete. Note multiple other houses in the community contracted at the same time and they were already putting the roof on, note that they were OMEGA homebuilders. I personally called the contractor and all I got were excuse after excuse. I have alot of experience in custom home building industry and I know what BS is. Finally I get a close date june 30th yay!! I have family that bought plane tickets, scheduled time off work contacted movers to bring my stuff from storage in CA. But good old Kiella strikes again I get an email saying sorry due to covid we have to change your close date to July 8th which completely throws a wrench in everything now plane tickets are canceled I get charged the whole month of July for storage and now have to rent an air bnb. I expressed my frustration to them and crickets. I highly do not recommend using Kiella do not be fooled by the nice homes you will be put through a ringer that will put holes in your pocket. read more

Do not do business with Kiella Homebuilders, When their Home Sales Consultant gave us a quote in writing on August 20, 2020, and told us in writing that it was good until Sept. 4, we didn't know he was just yanking our chain. The quote was for the plan and the lot, plus the addition cost of upgrades we wanted. We did everything we were supposed to do, following all Kiella guidelines and timelines. Even though we know many of the upgrades are way overpriced, we were still willing to go along with their price gouging and agreed to pay upfront, with the To Be Built Contract, over $10,000. We signed the contract and our real estate agent sent it to the sales consultant and the sales manager on August 31, 2020. I know the salesman received the signed contract because on Sept. 1, 2020, he wrote: "Do you want the fireplace in the corner of the porch as shown in the attached drawing?" On Friday, Sept. 4, our agent contacted the salesman and he indicated that the contract was next in line. He wrote: "I will follow up. I sent my packet the morning after I received the info from you. She (Sales Manager) indicated yesterday that it was coming but have not seen it. I can see she has executed about 7 contracts between yesterday and today, so know she is busy, but I will follow up". So naturally, we figured everything was approved, just awaiting signatures from Keilla Homebuilders. Late afternoon on Sept. 9, our real estate agent received a call from the salesman stating that there was a "big meeting this morning and the price has changed due to increased price of wood." There was a $25,000 increase!! I have all emails, and more, that document our "deal" and our adherence to the requests. I emailed my disappointment and the following questions to the Sales Manager and the Vice President with no response. * Why did Kiella Homebuilders lie? * What kind of business do they run when they can blatantly break a deal, with no consideration for their customers? * Are they making so much money that this sale didn't matter to them? Such greedy, dishonest, and corrupt behavior! I've been in this community a long time and my husband was born and raised here. I am a retired teacher and my husband is a retired deputy chief of the local fire department. He has also been in business here for over 50 years. We know what good business practices are and THIS IS NOT. When he gives a customer a bid, and they send us a PO for the job...He doesn't ever say, "Oh, the materials have gone up in the last few days, so I'm going to have to charge you more." That would be WRONG! We always honor our quote and do not raise prices on current jobs that have already bid. Kiella Homebuilders are wrong for doing this, their sales representatives were not honest with us, and I'm writing this so you will beware and know about their unscrupulous tactics. read more
