Great local place. They are a wine vineyard and they also distill their own vodka. Very friendly staff and the owner is great for conversation. It is THE perfect place to enjoy a great bottle of wine and beautiful sunset on the veranda. I recommend to anyone to come out at 5 pm taste a few wines for $1 a piece, pick your favorite and buy a bottle to watch the sun set. read more

Love this winery. We live in the Texas Hill Country wine area, and still make it a point to travel up to Tyler to visit, taste and buy wine from Kiepersol. They have a great selection of wines for different tastes. I love reds and they have several I consistently like and buy. The prices are good...not overpriced like several wineries are getting. Me and my wife love going to this vineyard. There wine is very good and the staff is very friendly. Also you can pay a small amount and take a tour of the place to see the process of them making their wine. They have a little festival too in October with a lot of activities which is really fun and you can bring your kids. And the restaurant there is one of my favorite places to go for date night. If you haven't been I'd recommend you swing by and check it out. read more

Sigh. I don't get the rave reviews for this place (scratches head)....really, I don't. This week my Mom was visiting us from out of town and my Cordon Bleu trained chef husband and I drove out from Dallas to introduce her to the fact that there are wineries in Texas. Since she's from California and we thought we had better find something to knock her socks off, so after some research, we thought we'd come have lunch and spend the afternoon at Kiepersol. So, where to begin? The biggest positive is that it is a lovely drive to this vineyard so you basically go in with high hopes that the reviews are right. Hubby called the day before to see if we needed a reservation and was told on the phone that it was a "good idea." Once we arrived to the parking lot, there's a rather large sign that says "Valet Parking Only." Really??? There were only four cars in the parking lot, and no Valet to be found. (shrugs) Okay, I thought--maybe it's a little early and a weekday so no one is out parking cars yet, or they forgot to take the sign down...no big deal. Then we walk into this seemingly elegant restaurant (pay attention to that word seemingly, because in a little bit, you'll realize why I'm using that as a qualifier), and are LITERALLY OVERWHELMED by they MUSTY SMELL--and it's not a faint smell mind you, it's STRONG and THROUGHOUT THE RESTAURANT. As for the physical plant of this place (this is where the seemingly comes in), you can tell that they spent quite a bit of money putting this place together trying to make it elegant. Lovely paneled walls, huge showy wine storage in the middle of the restaurant, stately bar, expensive lighting fixtures...but it all kind of loses it's luster when you glance a little longer and notice the tacky photography that graces every wall (it's quite obvious someone went on a photo safari) (and who had the great idea that Tanzanian wildlife serving as "art" would ever be appealing in a winery restaurant???). Additional luster was also lost when we walked into the completely empty restaurant and were asked if we had a reservation--and when we said that we did, we were actually asked the name. (clears throat--this restaurant is not small and intimate, it easily seats over 50 people). Anyway, OUTSIDE the windows, the view is quite lovely with lush greenery and some statuary, so if you do decide to go here, take a peek outside. Ms. Jones found the service here to be quite good once we got past the slight attitude of the reservation inquisitiveness. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Also, the food was not terrible. Hubby and Mom each had a burger, and I had a chicken Caesar salad that had lots of tasty chicken and a delightfully garlicky dressing. We tried two of the wines--they were marginal (hubby is a Sommelier as well), but of course, wine is usually in the palate of the beholder. The total for our meal (two burgers, a salad, a bottle and a glass of wine) was just over $100.00 Worth it? Meh, I don't think so. Would we go back? No. In all, it was just a mediocre experience. This place felt as though it so badly wanted to be elegant, but an overwhelming smell of must, tacky amateur photography of wild animals, sunsets and children...and did I mention the garland of plastic dusty grapes??? Yeah...those things keep it from being what it so desperately feels it wants to be. read more

Amazing view for a Texas Winery , Great wine! The distillery is pretty nice as well. Barrel no 33 is my favorite red wine ever! Oh and I suggest going over to the restaurant and trying the filet mignon... I live in the DFW area (I have been to Bobs and Del Frisco's) and its by far the best I have had anywhere. read more

Best little hidden secret in East Texas! Stupendous staff, Excellent food and a beautiful atmosphere where everyone makes an effort to know you and make you feel at home! My only concern it that a few things that have changed over the past year. We always say that it is the little things that make the experience...I so miss the little chocolate after dinner mints you all once served. It was the perfect finish to cleanse your pallet after a phenomenal meal. Also, please go back to the old to go boxes.... again it is the little things about the experience and presentation that make you feel you are a special person in a special place.
