The first time I went here I had a really bad experience and would have given them only 1 star. It took me an hour to get a drink and I only got it because I went up and got it myself. The wings were also horrible. But that was one year ago. Today my boyfriend wanted to go and he loves it there. I told him my horrible experience and he said to give it another chance so I did and I'm glad I did because I got the lighter side Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. So my review is at a three for right now of this place and I will go back again soon and will update my review :) read more

This is a great spot tucked away in the deep SW of Calgary. Found it on Yelp as I was looking for somewhere new (at least to me) to bring my Yorkshire Angel for a drink and a nibble. Easy to find in Silverado (not the town in the movie of the same name). Kildaires' is nicely decorated and split into restaurant and lounge. They also have a nice patio and a private room that would be good for a small group. As luck would have it Wednesdays are half price wine and pizza is on special. We started with an Argentine who was very good....wait, that almost got weird. An Argentinian Malbec and an order of chili-lime mussels. Mussels were great. The attentive server brought a pizza to the couple next to us and I was all like "WTF is that?" And she said it is cheap pizza night and I was all like "I am down." Ordered the Italian. I've always wanted to try going to Kildares for their wing night and now after a long delay I finally made it. Kildares is found in the deep SW in Silverado with an outdoor south facing patio. Kildares wing night is just like your average wing night, price maybe different from one restaurant to another but to me it's all the same. Kildares offers 33 cent per wing or $3.30 a pound with a minimum of 10 wings per order. You can't opt out of getting a drink and if you do have a beverage water is excluded until you finally got your wings on your table. With only 19 flavours there's not much to choose from but they do have your typical sauce that you can find anywhere. I would have given a full 5 stars but my experience wasn't all that great, I ordered my 20 usual sauced wing when I got it was was cold, not even room temperature cold just cold cold. The wings were over fried as if they forgot to change the oil in the fryers prior to open, the wait wasn't long though. A standard 9 mins from placing the order to having it delivered to your table is pretty fast consider other places usually take a tad bit longer. Kildares is worth the wing night if you live in the deep SW and don't want to travel north to go for another location. I would recommend it, it's a +1 in my books read more

Feel so bad for the server here. We sat and watched as she seems to do EVERYTHING. She was working her ass off. Bartender didn't make drinks- she did. She was in and out of the kitchen. Feel like maybe she's even cooking the food. The service is sooo slow because of this. I came here years ago and enjoyed it... seems to be going downhill. Is the bartender even a bartender?! That's our question. We suspected he is a cheap owner who is trying to save a buck by not hiring a real bartender On the bright side, the food was okay. The steak is a really cheap cut of meat but was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was good. So. 2 stars. One for the super star server we had. And 1 for the okay food. read more

Went here for dinner today. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great the staff very friendly and the food was amazing. I had the Shepherds Pie and it was by far the best I've ever tasted and a friend of mind had the Salmon and he really enjoyed it as well. Prices are very good for the quality and amount of food you get and great selection of beer. I would recommend this place to anyone if your in the area give it a try you will not be disappointed! read more

Well not much to say as we didn't get Food or Drinks. Saturday 1:15pm sat on the patio. Almost immediately waitress came by and dropped menus and said she would be "right" back. Waited for awhile... In the meantime another waitress came out and check on her patio tables. Didn't acknowledge us. Also an older gentleman came by and asked people if everything was ok. I assume he is the manager or owner. Didn't acknowledge us. Waited a little bit more and gave up. Started to walk out and waitress (who forgot us) said "Thanks for everything". Wife said thanks for what? We left. One thing is she did follow us and say sorry. Offered to buy us drinks. But... whatever. First time, last time. read more

I visited this establishment with my family in June, we are a family of 9 so we called ahead on Tuesdays wing night to see how busy they were. I was told they were packed. We have a 16 year old who can only go to certain establishments till a certain time so we looked around at other places. We ran out of luck with others and decided to try the "packed place." They were not packed at all, there were several empty tables and we were seated right away. We waited 45 minutes for cold, dry and tasteless wings, seriously really dry and cold. For the price of the drinks and food (besides the wings) this place is a total let down, avoid it and go to some other place. read more

But on Canada Day, my partner in crime and I decided to cross the highway from our former favourite watering hole and into Silverado and catch a vibe at Kildares. When we arrived we were met by a tall gentleman who introduced himself as Jon and asked us if we were interested in sitting on the patio, we obviously obliged as it was gorgeous out. I felt very safe from this masked individual as I could almost feel Corona turning around and not messing with us tonight. It sort of felt like we were the Greasers and Corona was the Socs and Corona was running away from battle....Anyway, long story short we had Mini Yorkies, Nachos, and some bomb a** hot wings. Yes we live in the far out, non-trendy suburbs of the city where access to a great local pub is sadly lacking. When word came down, were excited to have a neighbourhood pub move in and had great plans to frequent it often.......well we tried again and again but the results were continually the same. The food is ok, we have had varying results from really good to sadly burnt. It is always a peeve when something comes to the table burnt, if I can see it when it arrives I assume both the cook and server saw it and still decided it was ok to give me. Hey I'm not overly proud but I can burn food at home for my dinner If that's what I'm looking for! We also tried brunch here a few times and were disheartened to hear that certain dishes were not available because at 11 am the chef was still not in so the sauces were not made? Made us wonder who was back there making the food... The ambiance in nice, your typical Irish pub with lots of dark wood, dark paint and a great wood burning fireplace. The biggest disappointment has always been the service. Even when it is not busy (less that 20 people in the place) the service has been dismal. Often waiting 20 minutes for drinks and a lunch can take over an hour and a half during the week. When it's busy we have found that unless you are a large party or sitting right at the bar, good luck getting your second drink or even food and have on several occasions left after getting just one drink in an hour. We couldn't even get our bill and just left cash on the table to cover our drinks. We are sadly disappointed and continue to drive to a pub outside of our community but will continue our hope of getting another great pub within stumbling distance of home. read more

This was my first visit to Kildares. My SO and I had seen it once when we were heading to Sobey's in the Silverado area and we made mental note to come back. As far as pub food is concerned, Kildares is excellent. To start we ordered the truffle oil french fries. If a person wants to make anything more delicious, just add truffle oil. I swear it's this magical ingredient that just enhances flavour all around. I ordered a fried egg BLT (without the bacon) with a side of soup for my main. The sandwich was good. And the food was relatively fast. What was more impressive, however, was my side. The guiness soup had crab and all kinds of seafood deliciousness in it. Needless to say, we'll be back ot Kildares. My wife and I only pop in here occasionally when coming from Spruce Meadows as its not really close to us for any other reason. They have a solid nacho platter and yesterday I gave the short rib mac and cheese a try. Also delicious. The service is always good, but we're also coming in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch when its slower. No complaints here, just a good neighbourhood pub. read more

It is hard to find a nice pub with actually decent food to eat in the deep SW. So, when Kildares opened, I was very excited to try it. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside on the patio. They have a really nice patio, so that was a plus. I got the Kildares burger and my friend got the Steak Sandwich. Both were quite delicious, and filled us up. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries were nice and crispy. Our waitress was lovely, and when I asked for a beer recommendation, she not only gave me a great recommendation, but checked up to make sure I liked it. It is hard to find service like that in pubs in this city. Since it's a 5 minute drive from my place, and I enjoyed my experience there, I will be coming back for sure. read more

The food is very good, the building and decor are excellent. The service is the only thing that lets it down. The staff are nice enough, but the service is really inconsistent. The beer selection is good as is the single malt choices. But finding a waitress or even a bartender can too often be a challenge. Hopefully they will get this under control, because there are precious few good places to go so far south. read more

Love this bar, great menu and the staff is usually really great too! They have gluten free pizza crust and burger buns which is always nice. Whenever we go in I order the big easy pizza and it's incredible I highly suggest everyone try! Also during the summer the patio is nice! read more

Constantly disappointed! This has been the go to place for years but it's gone down hill fast! The menu and food lacks, it used to be excellent but the attention to detail is gone and so has the food and menu. Nothing ever comes out the way it's ordered. Cold, over cooked, reheated, wrong sides, appys and dinner brought at the same time. Very little done by servers to address the quality issue or errors. It's complacency at its best! It's no secret this place is busy so it's almost as if they don't care because they know there is another customer that will take the seat. This once hidden gem better figure it out because people are talking about the above issues and it won't take long before it's a the place of the past. read more

Kildares is our neighbourhood pub and we spend a lot of time there. My boyfriend and I can be seen there weekly and have been known to be there daily some weekends. The food is fantastic, if you order the nachos make sure you ask for the dips on the side because they put it on top and then the nachos get soggy but the nachos are my favourite thing and best value I've found at a pub! I have tried almost everything on the menu and has not been disappointed. The staff are all wonderful. Very welcoming and make you feel right at home. Would definitely recommend going here for dinner and/or drinks! read more

Kildare's is our go-to pub. It's not even in our neighborhood but worth the drive. Food is great, beer is awesome, staff is fabulous. We sit at the bar so our service is always fantastic. I have not experienced the inattentive staff issues mentioned in other reviews. My food is never cold, which was also mentioned in other reviews. If it was, I would send it back and give them a chance to correct before mentioning it in a review. Never had a problem with the service or food. I highly recommend this pub to everyone I meet. read more

I've been here a few times since they opened and only once when it was super busy but each time I've been they give me a reason to come back. Most recently we were in on Sunday of August long after a hike, even though the pub was really quiet (to be expected on the long weekend and with the weather) we had amazing service, she was on top of her tables, happy & smiling told us the specials as soon as we sat down. Patio is gorgeous and has a good view with plenty of shade and sun. We didn't eat this time but the handful of times I have it was great. I will keep coming back for sure. read more

The Cuban Prawn Salad is fantastic. A little on the pricier side for a salad being $18.00 but was well worth it. The portion wasn't huge either. A group of 7 went to Kildares Ale House on August 3rd. The waitress was very efficient,friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to ensure we had a positive experience. The food was excellent, fresh and hot. The manager even came and thanked us for patronizing the pub. This was my second visit to Kildares and will certainly be back! read more
