    Coconut chicken
    Jason F.

I stopped by here a couple of Thursdays ago with my wife for dinner. We have food trucks that come to our neighborhood and on this particular day it happened to be Kilimanjaro Flavor. Since it is a food truck there isn't much to say about it other than it was being worked by a singe lady on this day. This actually caused some issue as her methodology for working was to take everyone's order that was in line and then work through those before taking the next order. That meant during our batch that she took 11 orders and the person who arrived just after she was done had to wait longer than 45 minutes just to place her order. For dinner on this day my wife and I both decided to go with the coconut chicken and then we also decided to split an order of the samosas. It took about an hour from us arriving and about 45 minutes after ordering for us to receive our food. Once we did, we headed back to our house to eat it. The first thing that I tried was the samosa and it ended up being pretty good. The exterior was crispy while the interior was warm and flavorful and it paired nicely with the dipping sauce that came with it. After I had finished my samosa I started into my entree which ended up being really good. The chicken was tender and juicy and I really appreciated the coconut sauce that was on it. That sauce also helped to flavor the bed of rice that it was on. Finally the vegetables were a nice addition and while they weren't too flavorful on their own, I appreciated them being there and also ended up dipping them into the sauce. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I wasn't a fan of the ordering system, the food itself was good and justifies a visit to this food truck.

Really great! Didn't know what to expect from Tanzanian food but we were all impressed. My husband got the beef and said it tasted like nothing he had eaten before but it was good. I had the chicken which reminded me a lot of Thai curry but thicker? Very yummy for sure. Would seek out this truck again!

I stopped by the food truck while they were at stick city brewery. I enjoy the different options they have. Kilimanjaro Flavour was looked to be a good change of pace. I ordered the coconut shrimp and samosa. The sauce was like a curry but instead of the curry flavor it was very coconutty. It came with rice and vegetables which made a nice meal. The samosa was good as well, but aren't all deep fried things.

I was able to check out Kilimanjaro Flavor while visiting Pittsburgh in October 2020. The mobile restaurant was parked outside of Hitchhiker Brewing in Sharpsburg and was keeping extremely busy with orders from brewery customers. It took some time for the chef to be able to take new orders, and I can attest that the food was definitely worth the wait! The Zanzibar Sauteed Coconut Chicken was creamy, slightly sweet, and rich in spice. Despite being very busy, the chef was warm and gracious to her customers. This is definitely a mobile restaurant to seek out for delicious, comforting African cuisine!

She cooks incredible food. Everything I've tried here is very tasty. My favorite is the coconut shrimp, meat samosas, and cassava leaves. It's delicious every time.

It was our good fortune to happen upon Kilimanjaro Flavour at Allegheny City Brewing today. We can coconut shrimp and wizard chicken. Both were delicious!!!

One of the tastier food truck meals I've had in a while! The Coconut Chicken was delicious, and the veggies were surprisingly good. Service was a little slow, but it was well worth the wait. Looking forward to trying the Meat Somosa next time I run into this wonderful little truck.

    Plantains

Sooo good! Huge portions, great flavor, sweet chef! I got the shrimp, samosas and plantains. Really a fantastic food truck!

"Vitafunio vitamu" (that's Swahili for "delicious small bites"): Samosas with dipping sauce were tasty. Although the plantains (prepared similarly to "tostones" in South America) are not something I've ever seen over 35 years traveling in East Africa, they were delicious nonetheless.

I would give this about 3 1/2 stars. Not too bad and not too great. I have never had this type of flavoring so it may just be my personal liking. I did enjoy the service and the friendly staff. I got the beef and the flavoring was unique, but enjoyable. Wish it had some more veggies on the side. Rice under the beef needed cooked better and maybe some seasoning. Also wish they had some type of homemade hot sauce, for me it lacked in that field. Wish I had something to put on top of it to give it a kick, but that might not be the way of this type of food. Overall average.

I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife. We were actually headed to Marshall's at the Block at Northway whenever we happened to spot this truck just outside. Since it is a food truck, there's not much to say about it other than it was parked on the sidewalk and had a sign up advertising their specials. Other than that I noticed a sign in the window saying that they sold Defer coffee which I appreciated since it is both local and good. Since there was no line I immediately proceeded up to the window and was able to place my order for a oatmilk latte. The oatmilk itself was only an extra $.75 which I feel like is a fair price for such an upgrade. In any case after only a minute or two wait I had my coffee and was on my way. Whenever I finally was able to taste it I will admit that I was happy with it. The coffee itself had a deep and rich flavor to it while the oatmilk had a strong oat flavor. Those two items were in proportion to each and played nicely together. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I thought that my coffee here was good and liked the idea of a coffee food truck.

This food truck was a light blue color with two workers and served cinnamon rolls, pretzels and hot chocolate. My wife and I ended up ordering a pretzel with cheese and then a cinnamon bun for ourselves as well as another one which I ended up giving my mom for Mother's Day. The pretzel itself was $8 but it was one of those massive ones that you see at stadiums and came with a small side of cheese sauce. It ended up being nicely cooked and the outside of it had good texture while the inside was nice and soft. The outside of it did not have too much salt and both my wife and I enjoyed dipping it into the cheese sauce. Our cinnamon bun was similarly good as we enjoyed the pecan topping as well and the frosting and cinnamon flavor to it. The bun itself had a nice and soft consistency to it which made eating it quite nice. My mom also said she enjoyed the cinnamon bun which was nice to hear! The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Clearly this food truck isn't going to provide you with a full meal, but it certainly does have some fun stuff to snack on.
