First time at Red Chilly's! Located right off Steubenville pike, there is a lot of seating at this no frills Indian place! We were the first ones around 5:30 on a Friday night, but lots of folks picking up takeout and DoorDash. Server gave us bottled water (which we didn't ask for and were charged like $0.50 for 4 bottles so not a big deal). We ordered samosas, onion pakora, garlic naan, goat vindaloo, and chicken korma. We also got the irani chai at the suggestion of the server. He was helpful and gave us suggestions about spice level etc. Nice pace of service. Our chai was first, then appetizers, with plenty of time to enjoy them. Then entrees and naan. We did not feel rushed. The staff was super grateful for our business. The food was 5 stars! So fresh, flavorful. Tender meat for both the goat and chicken. We will definitely come back to try more things! They had Bollywood videos playing on the TVs which we loved! The food here is amazing. I'm glad we finally got there. We'll definitely go back. Service was okay and strange. We couldn't really get water refills and were never told that we would get no bill and had to pay at the counter. We waited a long time for our bill before flagging down our waiter to find out we weren't getting one. They play Bollywood music videos, which was really cool. Side note: tho they ask about naan with every order it isn't included and it may be worth getting the bigger basket if you're all getting the same kind of naan. read more

We stopped by dinner on Tuesday. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot outside and the inside is a fairly big room with a bunch of tables and booths. There are some cute light fixtures and art on the wall. We enjoyed all the dishes we got and my favorites had to be the lamb chops, the most delicious smelling garlic naan, the chicken chettinadu, and the gulab jamun. All the food we got was so fragrant and flavorful. The biryani tasted even better the next day and I love trying new things like the Indian sodas! The restaurant is welcoming, well decorated, and clean. Our server was prompt and very attentive, taking the time to answer all our questions about their extensive and varied menu. We ordered Sweet Corn Soup, which was rich, sweet, and savory. Bits of chicken really deepened the flavor. The Lentil Soup was more delicate, vegetarian (I think) and lighter bodied. I liked both, but LOVED the Sweet Corn Soup. The Paneer Kulcha was a delicious flat bread with a mild cheese center. I'd been to many Indian restaurants and don't recall ever seeing it before. So glad we tried it. Our entrees were the Lamb Rogan Josh and Lamb Chettinadu. Both were thick, saucy, and delicious served with Basmati Rice. My husband ordered the former and had it made extra spicy. We enjoyed both. Lastly, I had the Salt Lassi, one of my favorite yogurt drinks. My husband had South Indian Buttermilk on a dare (mine) and we loved both. The South Indian Buttermilk had an interesting spiced flavor and mint. The milk beverages always seem to make my tummy happy, especially when I indulge in spicy foods. I would encourage you to go if you like Indian foods. Many regional cuisines are represented. We could not have picked a better place for our first Indian Experience. Having no clue to what we were doing the staff took the time and explained spice, heat and choices. We went looking for Red Chillies in a chilly weather and found after about 20 min drive away from downtown. It was almost empty with just one other family so we got seated immediately. Huge order which went as follows: Sweet corn soup- water and sweet corn with salt. For the cost charged it was not worth it. Veg monchow- did not like that either Garlic naan - this was good Plain dal- came with rice, not bad Baby corn pepper fry- tasty, u might want to specify mild spice as it was pretty hot Gobi Manchurian- not bad Chilly Bajji- they should have used a milder and fatter green chilly. If u can handle spice, it was good. Veg fried rice- pretty good Zeera rice- good too. Service was ok, we had to ask them to clear the messy table so we can make place for the rest of the order after starters, which, I think should have been taken care of without us having to point out. Ambiance is ok. I do like the little grass roof artificial corner where people for to-go orders can wait. Great Indian restaurant in the Robinson area! They have a lot of the classic dishes, but also some items that can't be found in other Indian restaurants in the city, which is nice. I got to try out their chana masala, Malabar paratha, and rasmalai. The chana masala was quite good. It was flavorful, and had a nice consistency. Not too spicy either and they do allow you to adjust spice level. However, the portion was a bit on the smaller side compared to some other restaurants and price was a tad high. The Malabar paratha was very good. Again, I'd say it is a bit on the expensive side but I still really enjoyed it. It's flakey and almost croissant like in a way (in terms of butteriness and flakiness). Very nice indeed, both stand-alone and with a curry. The rasmalai was kind of disappointing but not bad. The texture was a bit strange and oddly dry despite being soaked in sweet syrup. Slightly plasticy and not that flavorful. Wouldn't order again, and a small portion for the price. All in all, a pretty solid place for Indian food. They do have some unique items, but portions aren't the best and some of the desserts fall flat. Would still try again, though. read more

We found a sign for street food and we're in the mood for fish pakoda. The restaurant told us they had tandoori fish. What they ended up making was the worst fish we have ever had. It was a fish with all the skins and bones and a lot of tandoori masala on the top of bad smelling skin. read more

Came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner. There were a few other diners, but I wouldn't say it was busy. I wasn't too hungry so I got the samosa chaat, which was some samosas broken down with chickpeas, herbs, chutney, yogurt, and a sweet/tangy tamarind sauce, maybe? But it was such a great mixture of textures and flavors with a bit of spice. The chicken saag was very flavorful and had the right amount of spice for lunch. The chicken was very moist. The garlic naan was also good and was soft in some parts, crispy in others. Very authentic Indian food experience. Friendly staff made good recommendations since I'm inexperienced with many of the dishes. Samosas we're light, flakey and delicious. Not too oily or too big, they are an appetizer after all. Green chili sauce served on the side was spicy but complimentary, not over powering. Chicken curry was much hotter spice but again not too hot to ruin the experience. Very flavorful and delicious. The server recommended at different type of Naan bread. It was flakey like a croissant but did help with heat from food as he suggested. Atmosphere is casual and family friendly. I will visit again when I'm in Pittsburgh. read more

While in the area for business and craving Pakistani or Indian type food, I saw really good reviews for this place, so I stopped in on a week night. They were moderately busy and only had one guy working the dining room. I was quickly seated, but sat for a while before he came back to ask if I had questions about the menu and take my order. I saw they had lots of biryanis on the menu and I asked for veggie biryani, but he said they don't make it. So, I skipped it and went for samosas, chicken saag and a roti. The order was reasonably timed, with the samosas coming out first. The samosas were really flavorful and I tend to not be a fan of Indian style mint chutney, I prefer Pakistani yogurt mint chutney, but their chutney was decent. The entrée came out in reasonable time after I finished my samosas. The style of saag was very smooth and creamy with no resemblance of having greens in it other than the rich green color. I asked for a level 7 heat, but it was more a level 3. The white rice that came with it was boring, basic, short-grain rice like you get in a Chinese restaurant; it wasn't basmati. The flavor of the saag was boring, not much curry flavor coming through. The riata was just OK, only had onion in it. Overall, I wasn't impressed, but it's one of the few places to get this sort of food in the area, so I guess it's popular by default. I prefer authentic Pakistani, so the food did little for me. If you want some much better Pakistani/Indian food, my suggestion would be Kabob & Curry, the flavors there are way more on-point! read more
