Lots of good deals over Easter weekend. The store was clean and organized. Unfortunately the customer service is severely lacking. It was very disappointing. No one greeted us or asked if they could assist us the three times that we've been here. There were several employees working and they were too busy chit chatting and flirting with one another. One white employee only seemed to rush to help the white customers and walked past us and totally ignored us. They could all use some customer service training and learn how to treat paying customers. We did not feel welcomed here. I'll stick to Killer Dana from now on where they treat everyone equally with great customer service. read more

This was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at any business in my whole life We camp right across the street from the store at the state park campground quite a few times a year. Every time we go across the street to Jack's and shop and buy stuff and treat our self's so this time i I tried on six things I liked only one item fit so I took the shirt that fit and went to my boyfriend, and he said that we were coming back the next day to buy some stuff he needed a shirt and a boogie board bag so I put my shirt back and we walked across the parking lot to the Arco to buy peanut butter that we needed for our campsite while in the store looking at the peanut butter I look up and there he is the guy from the jacks surf shop, which is in pictured below he says, where is that shirt that you tried on I was mortified in front of everyone in Arco we then got in a full on argument in Arco, I told him I would show him where I put it which was on the same rack that I pulled it out of. We proceeded to go over there. I showed him then I asked him his name he wouldn't tell me. I asked him five times he would not tell me his name and then when he figured out, I didn't steal anything and wouldn't give me his name. He told me to leave the store, I have never been more insulted and more embarrassed in my life and I will be calling corporate tomorrow. I cannot believe it I don't even know his name but here's his picture I'm a palled, and after I looked at all the yelp reviews for this place everyone feels the same. They need to change management here. I can't believe they're ignoring all these yelp reviews. We overheard him talking to kids about how it was time for him to leave. He's been here working too long. it's sad because he ruined my weekend. I was planning on going over there and buying my stuff today. We always do so. We'll find a new surf shop in the area to buy from. Actually we already did while we were bike riding.This Place needs to make some management changes. I bought a wet suit that was too small. I didn't try it on at the store because putting on a wet suit can be a task. I usually go nude and talc helps to slide in. And although I didn't wear it and it remained in the store bag which was a big mistake.. the boy manager said it was damaged because i left it in the bag. He did give me a lecture on neapreen. I should have gone to killer dana which is run by surfers not bean counters. read more

This place has such an amazing selection of clothes For guys! I was truly amazed by how many different shirts, shorts and pants they had to choose from for guys. At this particular store, the staff is so friendly and helpful. They literally walked me over to different areas so I could find things that I was looking for. Then when I wanted to try things on they were ready to place them aside so I could continue adding to my selections. I probably chose 18 things to try on but ended up buying six. This was truthfully the first time I've been in a store in quite a while due to COVID-19. I was honestly impressed by their level of professionalism even though the crew was somewhat on the younger side. Never take your customers for granted and treat them poorly. That is how I felt today when my daughter and I visited Jacks in Dana Point. We went down to go shopping and to also exchange a RHYTHM dress she wore 2 times and it is coming apart at the seams and also ripping where the tie straps are located. The stitching is coming apart. Both employees made accusations that my daughter ripped the dress so they clearly don't know what a defective product looks like or they didn't care. Neither of them had problem solving skills and they just wanted me gone. I asked for owners name and contact information and all he wrote down was a customer service number that didn't connect to anyone. Needless to say we did not stay and shop, very disappointing. Next time I will just buy these brands online from other companies. Not worth the drive to be treated poorly. Manager was named Cameron and the other young kid had dark curly hair. read more

Needed some skateboard supplies today, spacer and nuts and bolts and with all my purchases have really been trying to support local businesses instead of ordering on Amazon. Walked in to the store that had little to no customers and 3 young men were busy moving product around. Stood at the counter with a dumb look on my face for about 5 minutes, before finally 1 nice kid asked if I needed help. He was very knowledgeable and got me what I needed which was right behind the register. Then he went back to moving product around with the other 2 and again I stood there at the counter waiting to checkout. Nice kids, store had a lot of product, but whoever trains them in customer service should be fired. I don't blame the kids, but seemed like the priority was unpacking boxes, not selling or helping. Online ordering horrible. $600 Order was placed 12 days with no communication. Finally called and customer service said they were waiting on items. Ended up refunding me 3 items that were not available. Very disappointing. I am appalled at Jack's surfboards shoe department. I purchased a pair of sandals for my baby and was told by a salesperson that if they didn't fit I was welcome to bring them back in and exchange them. They didn't fit so I brought them in today and was treated poorly by the manager, Maddox, who refused to take them back because I had cut the tags off. I cut the tags off because they would have cut my son if I hadn't! I called their corporate office to file a complaint but I will never shop there again. It looks like they are hurting for business anyhow because we walked into an empty store with four salespeople standing around. Buyer beware! read more

Terrible customer service. I bought a $180 kids wetsuit from here. My son wore it once and the stitching started coming undone. They would not swap out the suit mere days after purchasing and directed me to the manufacturer's website to send it back to corporate headquarters. Here's how what should have been a simple, painless exchange turned into one of the worst examples of customer service I've dealt with before. I had 2 items given to me as gifts that I needed to exchange here - a pair of shoes & a pair of jeans - because the sizing wasn't right. Both were unworn, with all the requisite tags and labels still affixed, so there shouldn't have been much of a problem. I walked in and handed my items to the girl who greeted me at the front counter. I explained that I wanted to only exchange these things, not return them, and she started off by saying I'd be getting 20% less than what they're worth since "they might've been bought on sale" unless I got the exact same items. That's a lame policy. Shouldn't you give your customer the benefit of the doubt and award full credit if they're not asking for money back? I highly doubt their sale prices are 20% off (the already ridiculously high prices), so the lesser credit was annoying. But I let it go because I really just wanted to pick something else out and leave. She said I'd be getting around $104 in credit, so I figured I'd finally buy myself a nice pair of sunglasses and pay the difference. Then another vapid blonde behind the counter had to open her mouth, letting the girl who was helping me know that "we don't carry this style of jeans anymore". This after the girl assisting me had just pointed out the exact jeans I brought in. When I asked her, she said they were different, but I checked and it was the same friggin' style as far as I could tell. So, now my credit dwindled from over $100 to $48.50, since the shoes were $60. Then I asked her if I had to get the exact same pair of shoes. She said I could pick out any pair that was "around $60". So, wait, now my credit is back up to full price? So if I get shoes I'm getting full retail but if I want anything else it's $48.50? That makes no sense. During all of this she did absolutely nothing to make the transaction easy. All she needed to do was give me a store credit for both items and I would have spend MORE than what it was worth buying something else - now all she's done is piss off a potential customer who'd rather never set foot in here again. I have no doubt they could've easily resold the jeans I returned, or sent them back to the manufacturer for credit. I hope it was worth it, bimbos. read more

It seems like every year I go to Doheny Blues Festival I forget something. Hats, Sunscreen, Flip Flops, etc. The selection is GRAND. As with most Surf/Skate/Beach shops they are staffed by young people. Everyone I encountered was courteous and knowledgable. I think the prices are a little on the high side but considering the location I'm not really sure you can expect much else. I'm paying $32.00 a day for parking and a $25.00 a day for a dollar resort fee so is $68.00 for high end flip flops really that bad? All I would tell the owner by the mixed bag of reviews here is. Training, Training, Training. Your paying BIG BUCKS to be here you may as well train up the employees and not get these bad service reviews. You have a great store. read more

Great customer service and alot bigger inside than it looks on the outside. They had sidewalk sale this week and the staff is helpful. They were cool about putting things on hold where most places wont and will say they will hold it if anything by the end of the nght. Truth is, it was hot as heck and I truly wasnt in the mood to slip into a 4/3 wetsuit! Anyway, clean, organized, staffed well, and friendly. They give 15% off for military discount if you ask. Ill go back. Markups are as any other Jacks Surfshop but if I dont have time for the online Amazon, Ebay stuff, this is a great location to go that carries wide variety of things. read more

The guys there helped me out so much. I was camping at San Clemente and I had bought a defective wetsuit. They knew I was surfing around there for couple days. They didn't have the size of the same wetsuit so they had someone ship it down from Santa Monica which came in the next day. Not sure why this place doesn't have more reviews. They have sales up to 50% and more and have a ton of stuff with surf/snowboard brands you would expect such as Burton, O'Neill, and Billabong. Tons of ski coats, pants, board shorts, wetsuits, etc. I got $44 O'Neill board shorts for half off. The changing rooms are a little bit of a pain but at least they have something to try on a wetsuit or other big purchase. Jacks (San Clemente location) I went back to JACKS board shop today, February 17th 2012, to buy the jeans I tried on yesterday. Actually, I tried on a few pairs of jeans and even contemplated buying a pair of shoes: a pair of slick maroun Es' . I liked the shoes quite a bit yet had to curb my enthusiasm; I needed to check my bank account. Living as a freelance writer has its perks, but certain times call to be wiser than ever when it comes to these types of purchases. I knew a new pair of pants outweighed the matter. I put back all the garments save the pair of jeans I wanted to buy. A nice charcoal pair of Billabongs that fit like a fucking glove. I left them in the back so when I came back later that night I could access them. So, later that evening I went back and the manager gave off a vibe that was comparable to a customs agent in Belfast in the 90s. He mumbled incomprehensible slurs, jesting me for having a backpack on and worried I would be long - I guess it was minutes before closing hour. No big deal, I wanted to check out some t shirts too so I figured I'd come back the next day. Today. February 17th, 2012. I walk in and the vibe was even worse. He reprimanded me for carrying a bag, though today it wasn't a backpack, but a cloth Trader Joe's shopping back stuffed with my macbook pro, TASCAM audio recorder, my journals and Artistotle's "The Poetics". I was going to hit Starbucks for a cup, then to Trader Joes to get dinner. I was pissed at his tonal inflections... garbled slurs and the inability to make eye contact with me. This is how a shopkeeper treats a customer? I couldn't believe he went there... and made it public. What was he thinking? To make a spectacle at a person with a bag, about to shop. Actually, when I went in the day before... I approached him about my backpack as a sign of good measure. There was no apparent "backpack policy" and the store isn't employed enough to mitigate surveillance for shoplifters. The store is sort of rendered as a blue-chip thrift shop, so by experience most high end thrift shops have bag policies I am used to. He told me to just leave it back behind the cash register. He didn't hand me the usual clothes pin with a corresponding number or some kind of normal token of exchange. :::::::GARBLED SLURRS ENSUED::::::::: The more I spoke in my defense, the more accusations were thrown at me like some kind of invalid. I'm a homeowner in this town and work full time as a reputable writer and filmmaker. I spoke soft, yet with firmness. He ridiculed me for not purchasing the garments I tried on and didn't end up buying yesterday. Each pair of pants (4) I tried on I put back on the hanger and returned to the rack. If there is a video feed I will bet my condo that shows up in the footage. He goes on by, again quite garbled, telling me there is a policy limiting the amount of clothes a customer can try on. I tried on 4 pairs of jeans and decided on one - no signs anywhere. Then he makes a sly remark suggesting I shoplifted, so sly it was disgusting and left me wishing he was kidding... again, no eye contact - miming to my bag . This was outrageous. All I wanted was a pair of jeans and turns out I decided against the shoes for the time being... a decision I am entitled too no matter how much I said I liked the shoes. He tried to invade that privacy of mind and make a public announcement about it. Tactless and worthy of no further business of mine. I did buy my jeans. I wanted those jeans, but so help me God I will never step foot in such an establishment for the rest of my days. He picked the wrong person to mess with. People make intimate decisions. Circumstances are different. I take my time when I make purchases and try to be as respectful as possible when I participate in store shopping.
