Authentic local tacos! Loved their fish tacos. Will always visit during my trip to the Big Island!

Not sure about this place, it's just bland and very subpar. Being from California, I have been exposed to good Mexican food, some okay food but nothing terrible. After a quick search, seen the 4 stars for this place and gave it a try. I won't be back. The Food: Here at Killer Tacos I had the Longboard Burrito and the Super Nachos, one with chicken one with beef. The chicken, although noted as "roasted" was cut up and was shredded? The beef is just Taco Bell style ground beef, and lacked any real flavor. No, I didn't have the tacos, but other than the pork and fish these are their two meat options and they weren't great. The nachos are just some shredded cheese, ground beef, sour cream, strange guacamole, and a side of a choice of salsa. The burrito had rice, meat, beans, sour cream, and a choice of salsa. The interesting part is that although it's a Mexican joint, there is no cilantro in anything? No Pico De Gallo!? This is Madness. For flavor they get 1 star. The Service: This earns the place another star. The two girls serving at the front were quick, very polite, and in general provided great friendly service. All in all, great service, fair prices for Hawaii, but the food-- just not worth it, not tasty and far from even decent Mexican food. read more

My wife and stopped here for lunch. She got two fried fish tacos ( this was the only fish option) and I got one beef and one pork taco. The tacos were good ( not life alternatingly great. Bathrooms are available outside and to the left in the strip mall. read more

Sorry but only three stars. They're flirting with four stars but without a real hot salsa offering, this is the best I can do. The taste of the beans was good for pinto and black beans. The shredded Kalua pork was above average. Frankly, I was just happy to have a Mexican food option since I am from California and eat a lot of Mexican food. If I did come back I think the street tacos might be the way to go. My wife got the fish taco and said it was above average as well. read more

I love fish tacos so when I visited Killer Tacos in Kailua, Kona that is what I ordered. Who can resist Alaskan Cod with the cabbage and special sauce. Truly Killer. Killer Tacos has tacos, burritos and special plates. Plus they have those Hawaiian canned fruit punch drinks. Love the tropical flavor. The food was just incredible, we went here after snorkeling down the road, for the price, you get a lot of food, I got the longboard burrito, and it was so good, the staff was so friendly and answered any of the questions we had, the place was in a area you wouldn't normally expect to find food, but it's worth going to it. I went with my parents and my sister, and our total came out to $50, but there was so much food we could barely finish it. I walked out with a T-Shirt and I'm more than pleased with it. I love this place, and will be coming back, don't miss out on this really good food, it's really worth it. read more

We went to this place on a whim since our original plan fell through. Very cool joint. Fast service. We had a long board a short board and 2 tacos (soft and hard). The ground beef was my favorite, very well seasoned. The chicken was also excellent. I felt like the pork was a little under seasoned. The guacamole wasn't fabulous but it was decent (I'm from Texas so we have some excellent guacamole at home). Cash only so just be aware. Overall a really good stop! read more

I hate giving 1 star...but unfortunately this warrants one for a few reasons. Let me first say 2 of the 3 ladies working were amazing! Great attitude, changed gloves & such. So maybe it was an "off" day for the other lady? My daughter called ahead to see if those of us with allergies could eat there (gluten & dairy) yes! We had a few options so we decided to go. Went in & I waited until 5 of our 7 family members went. Immediately stated we had a gluten & dairy allergy. No joke the look I received from the gal was "why are you here?" I asked for the salad GF/DF She didn't change gloves & asked what meat. I had been watching her so I had hoped there wasn't any cross contamination. I said ground beef. She said chicken was best. Ok chicken it is ;). The other gal (super sweet) changed her gloves & asked about the allergens again for my daughters meal. The cashier rocked too! A lovely lady. But the other one acted as if I was unwanted, unappreciated & had no right to be there. So let's get to the food. We eat well. We enjoy food. We invest in it. It wasn't the best. Not much flavor. Iceberg lettuce for salad, guacamole (not fresh, made somewhere else it tasted & looked like), my husband & kids had tacos, burritos & were disappointed. Needless to say at $10/person we didn't enjoy it. I get it. We're on an island paradise, this is a first world problem but I thought you should all be aware. Hate to say it but I don't understand all the 5 stars.. food was mushy & bland. Super Nachos? Looks like Chef Microwave made them with a slap of gauc & sour cream, no idea what makes the super... skip this place for sure. Barnyard Burrito? Unfortunately, the choice of frozen cod for their fish tacos pretty much says it all. I wanted to really like this place - convenient location, really friendly staff, but why frozen cod when fresh ahi & mahi-mahi are practically right outside your door? Killer Tacos is the only place in Kona that you can get good Mexican food for a decent price. We don't have the cheap, yet good tasting Mexican restraunts like some states, and only a few of the pricier Mexican restaraunts are actually good. Get the pork, it's Kalua pig. read more

The food is good in an industrial strip mall kind of way. Decent food, but not great, it's not a must go to, but good enough if you are down the road at Ola brewery, high does not offer any kind of food options. If you are in the hood, give them a shot. Otherwise, you won't miss out on much. read more

Ended up trying this place on the fly. When my co-worker and myself got here there was like 2 people inline. We just missed the after lunch crowd, I guess, because after getting our order there must have been at least 8 people in line. Tells you something when there is a line at 2pm. Taco special was good and pretty damn cheap. If I remember it was two good sized beef tacos with drink for around 6 dollars. Tacos were tasty and definitely deserve a return visit when I am in Kona. read more

Friendly, busy little taco joint. We ordered 30 tacos-five of each kind. They took the order and filled it with smiles all around. The taco shells are amazing! I had a pork and fish taco. As many of the small businesses practice by basing themselves in what may appear to be nothing more than a portion of a warehouse, so has Killer-Tacos. My bride and I indulged our appetites with a shared Fish (Ahi) Burrito & Longboard Burrito priced at $10 each. As described, their burrito creations are hearty, filling and prepared without delay. Almost as fast as you specify your order, the finished selection is passed down the assembly line for finishing with a salsa selection, wrapping and payment. $2.25 for in-store prepared iced tea is always difficult "to-swallow" as well as a total of $30 for a two-person lunch but typical for the islands. read more

We live in Kona and often have lunch at KT. Their pork tacos are yummy! Wish they used local Hawaiian fish in their fish tacos. Cod? Really!?!?! Prices are a little high (~$4.00 for one soft taco) but it seems like everything in 2022 is pricey. read more

The food was good and the burrito was quite filling. The employees however, were a little rude. We arrived about 6:45 p.m. and wanted to eat there. There are a few tables and bar stools for dining. After we were seated the two employees started mopping the floor and then piling all the chairs and tables up for the evening. I was concerned we were keeping them from closing. Lives up to their reputation. This place is not messing around! If you are from the mainland, compare it to Taco Del Mar but with waaaay fresher ingredients. I had the Kalua Pig Longboard Burrito in a sundried tomato tortilla and it did not disappoint! Served piping hot which I love! Hubby had three soft tacos, one with each kind of meat, and we both thought the pork was best, followed by the beef, and then the chicken, although ALL were tasty. I'd recommend the tacos if you have a smaller appetite. Habanero salsa is spicy and delicious and will make your skin dewy. Free refills on drinks. Fresh jalapeños on request. I'd recommend driving here as opposed to walking, as the location is in an industrial area with occasional sidewalks, but you are mostly on the shoulder of a busy road. Tried 2 fish tacos. The fish was barely warm, not fresh cooked, which makes a huge difference in taste and texture. They were below good so not something I would recommend. I was really looking forward to eating here but it was disappointing. The kalua pig or the ground beef are other meat choices. They also have veggie choices. Tacos and burritos are your options. Fish tacos were amazing! Crunchy breaded cod with a yummy spicy sauce in a tarot wrap! Definitely excellent and not too pricey. Would get to-go, seating is minimal and ambiance is American strip mall... but not "fancy" strip mall. Food, once you get to order after waiting on a family of sunburn victims to decide if the mild salsa might be too spicy or not, comes very quickly! (go for the spicy salsa). read more

Killer Tacos is all about the hard shell FISH taco, I get 3! I've had other stuff there before and it was good, but the GO TO must have is the hard shell fish taco. Every time I go they're slamming busy and the aunties are knocking out orders left and right, that's not easy but they make it fast. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS, it isn't easy here; especially in Hawaii and in the food industry. You can't compare Hawaii Tacos to Los Angeles Tacos.... come on now. read more

Food was really good. It's cash only so know that before you go, but they do have an ATM inside. I got the Kalua Pork Longboard Burrito and it was really good. Also got a fish taco with the spicy habanero salsa which was also really good. Fed a family of 4 for about $30 which I couldn't complain about. Definitely recommend going here if in Kona area. read more
