We absolutely love Shaka Tacoz. We come to Kona annually, and getting the Ono Taco is a tradition for us. The fish is cooked perfectly, and the tacos are perfectly seasoned. The plate includes three tacos, and we always get the mango chili sauce. The sauce is rated with "two chili's," so it has some kick, but it won't burn your taste buds (they do have hotter sauces). We've always had great service. They have all been welcoming and friendly. There are plenty of parking spots and other shops to visit. When you order, you can either wait or get a text when your food is ready. Plenty of tables throughout the place are shaded, which is perfect. For me, it's not an issue, but flies and other bugs can buzz around your food (I just shoo them away). We 100% recommend Shaka Tacos. read more

We picked up food to Shaka Tacoz on our way from the airport to our resort after a LONG travel day from the east coast. We didn't get to eat them immediately, and by the time we did they were no longer hot. HOWEVER, they were so freaking delicious that even now, over a month later my youngest nephew keeps talking about how much he loved those tacos and wants to have them again. This location has seating outside within the marketplace in some shaded areas. The tacos were great, I would just say since there are no sides, $19-$20 for 3 tacos is a bit expensive, but this is also Hawaii and not the main land where you can get 3 tacos at a food truck for under $10. I came across Shaka Tacoz on a recommendation on r/VisitingHawaii, and the rec absolutely did not let me down. I knew I just had to try the venison taco, and it was absolutely scrumptious. My uncle got the birria, and he was in love with it. The food was ready fairly quickly after ordering. This location is at a food truck + artisan marketplace, and the Shaka Tacoz truck is right at the entrance from the parking lot, so it's easy to find. There's open air seating beyond the truck, or benches under the trees better the food truck and the parking lot. Great place to enjoy some shade and some tacoz. We also got sides of the rice and beans, which we probably could have gone without if we had gotten more tacos. What I think makes these tacos better than your average taco is the cheese melted onto the tortilla and their pickled onions on top. I also love that they have different salsas to choose from, although it is an additional charge if you want to try multiple. You order inside at the counter, then pick up your food at the parked food truck outside once they text you that your order is ready. Instead of being a captive waiting by the food truck, you can have a pleasant time wandering around and checking out the shops. I went with the Ono Burrito (which is my new favorite thing!). The cashier was very thorough in explaining the recommendations and really enthusiastic so it was reassuring, especially since I've never had deer meat. Absolutely delicious food! This food truck deserves all of the stars. They offer Mexican food with a Hawaiian twist, implementing local style in a balanced and delicious way. I ordered the carne asada quesadilla which was large and stuffed with lots of cheese and green peppers. It came with salsa verde and sour cream and a mango salsa on the side. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to mangoes so I wasn't able to try that one BUT the salsa verde was very good with a hint of heat (as someone who is from Arizona, I imagine my opinion weighs heavily for good salsa verde). My daughter even ate it which says a lot too -- she is very picky. My partner ordered a pork burrito and literally inhaled his food. We have a favorite Mexican fusion spot in Arizona and he said it was even better than that (this is somewhere we order from multiple times a week -- it's that good!)
