I think that if you're intelligent, teachable, have a sense of humor, and are serious about your career you'll enjoy Killian and his class. He's very smart and know's his stuff, and is very generous about sharing what he knows (which is rare). He cares so much for actors that he created - not just a class -- but a well-thought out Learning Experience that unfolds in layers over the duration of the course. I'm not sure that people appreciate all of the time and thought that goes into putting something like that together, but I do and I'm grateful for the experience and look forward to continuing with his studio. read more

I had a one on one today with Killian and was scared after reading all these reviews! However I will truly say the 100 dollar fee for a private hour session was worth every penny. He helped me in so many ways and really got me thinking about so many things I DO NOT think of before going into the audition room. I truly feel so good about our meeting and will be going back to refresh every 6 to 8 weeks. He is truly brilliant at what he does. Yes, it is intense at first but he warms up to you and helps you! At no point did he ever make me feel like I was a "speck of dust under his shoe" as someone stated in a previous review!....He gives useful help, If you can't take his approach then you really should get into another business! I honestly think this is the best commercial workshop in LA. It's much more equipping and thorough than the one or two I had done previously. (one of them was with the guy who, previous to Killian, had the reputation of being the "commercial guru" in town. Was good, but not AS good). I think it's interesting a lot of the negative feedback on this feed is surrounding the fact that people didn't make the industry connections they wanted to from doing Killians workshop. It's not an acting schools fault if those are the expectations you're bringing to the table. Killian totally met my expectations of increasing my skills in the commercial audition room. And yeah, Killian does come across as having an extremely... prickly persona the first couple times you work with him. I never saw this as mean spirited or directed at any one in particular. I actually really enjoyed the pressure cooker environment because I get the intention behind it. Meisner had the same attitude towards the training of actors. Make what goes on in the class room the hardest most challenging work you'll ever have to do, and whatever you encounter in the "real world" will seem easier. if someone doesn't get this, that's their loss as far as I'm concerned. read more

I loved killian's beginner class! Not only were the teachers informative about all aspects of a commercial (from the company placing the add to the actor auditioning for a role and everything in between) but they really pushed to make sure everyone good good camera time and really got good feedback! That alone was enough for me but the biggest seller is that they film you and email the film to commercial agents all over the city! That was invaluable. Although I didn't get a call from the email blast, killian followed up and within the next 2 weeks I had a meeting with an agent! It really was an invaluable experience :-) read more

Oh heck yeah! I was actually browsing Yelp looking for a technique class and saw the entry for Killian's workshop and HAD to post a review. LOVE LOVE LOVE Killian. He's just a great guy. He's not mean - it's more that he doesn't act "nice". I think intense is a good word for him - but it's not a euphemism for "jerk", he's really just an intense, nice, smart, funny, opinionated but HELPFUL guy, though not the super-warm, nurturing, smiley personality that very very timid or new actors might prefer. That said, when I took his class there was a wide range of people in class with me, from brand-new-to-acting people to pretty accomplished, booking actors - and I saw a lot of great work and improvement from people at all levels. I honestly adored his class - I've been wanting to get back in there for a brush-up. Right after his class I booked a FANTASTIC internet commercial which was one of my favorite jobs ever. This dude is the real deal. Learned so much from him. He may be strict, but that's how we learn. No bull no nothin with this dude. Don't be lazy, or else he will call you out. Most people in LA are lazy anyways, but when you finish his class, you'll be inspired. He goes straight to the point and tells you what's needed. And if you need help, just ask. I took the beginner class years ago. I don't know why it took me so long to write this review. I thought that I should calm down before posting anything online. But then 2 years passed and someone asked me about it and I realized I am still mad. Killian came in to the class mad. Started yelling at everyone about being professional and following instructions and it was all down hill from there. He was acting like a drill sergeant. I thought it was some sort of test and apart of his teaching style to try and shake us or something. But it just kept going on and on. I stayed the whole class and then called the next day and explained his behavior and said I wouldn't be returning and asked for my money back. I didn't ever intend on paying for someone to treat me like that. They refused to give me my money back and I decided to cut my losses and just not return to the 3 more classes I had paid for. read more

I am only on week three of the adult intensive class or whatever it's called, but I must say that this class was worth taking. Granted, my commercial agents told me I "had to" take this class, but I trust them wholly. It's tough, yes, but informative and straightforward. Let's just put it this way-- the classes are set up as the hardest auditions you'll ever go out for as a commercial actor. Have I ever experienced this type of strict and intense audition process? No. But I find it valuable to be put in these tough situations in order to grow. I've booked a few national commercials prior to this training and I LOVE auditions in general, and now I feel prepared for whatever comes my way next. I had to write a review just because I really don't want you to waste your money at killians and not just that so you don't lose your dignity. If you noticed every five stars he has is for his foundation Class wich he does not teach and those teachers were amazing and nice and I bet they are very helpful, so if you are going to sign up for the foundation class I definitely recommend it. But the class that Killian teaches is awful and not because what he teach it's because how he teach it, I literally call his method an abusive method. If you know something about artists you know that we need a safe environment to open up and create. So if you are in fear of him and what he's gonna say to you how can you get better and how can you learn? I honestly was so in fear of him That my mind got blocked. He literally looked at one girl in class and said: why the f**k you laughing it's not funny I can't even look at your face. I was furious for the girl. When did it become ok to treat or talk to a human like that, Killian has no right and I bet you if he changes the show that he puts on and try to care and know people's name and help, it would be more effective. I understand that everyone thinks that his name on your resume is great or maybe he will help you in your career but is it worth what we stand for as the new Hollywood of enough is enough and no more ( abuse is just the same as harassment ). And there's so many great teachers out there that has a great reputation and you can actually learn from. Tonight was my last class with him and I didn't attend because I do not support that kinda of behavior and I will never wanna work with him anyways and sir Killian trust me this behavior will catch up to you sooner or later. Okay, so this Adult Intensive is extremely intense. I am somewhat new to the commercial arena, but this class was a great introduction into what it takes to book commercials int he city of LA. Killian has a very intense way of delivering his classroom instruction, and at times you feel somewhat intimidated by his demeanor, but I really think it's because of his passion about what he does. This is a 4 day class stretched out over a month and you are expected to do the work at home with yourself to develop you commercial persona. Get ready because he will not take it easy on you if you don't do the work, my particular class got yelled at every class because of this. The class says 3 hours but often times your out in an hour 1/2 to 2 hours. Every class was cut short that I took so far and today is my last class which we'll be starting early, and possibly leaving early as well. You will basically do the commercial presented to you and and be evaluated afterwards every class. It's the same routine and you must make sure you PAY ATTENTION!!!! Take notes, he does not allow you to tape class. He talks extremely fast so you have to do your best to get it. I would prefer he speak a little slower for some people including myself, however, he's done this same workshop for years and it's brought about results this way so you just have to get with the program. I have not had a commercial audition to utilize these tools yet, but i feel like I can conquer it if I do right now. He definitely gives you the nuts and bolts needed to be successful in this industry and once you redo your bad takes you can see a significant difference in both delivery, setting, and overall relationship of the product. Killian is concerned with booking, that's all. He wants his students to book commercials and be successful, this is what it takes for him to be happy and should take for you as a student to be successful. I do recommend this class to anyone serious about booking commercial work in LA, it's a must! to take. It's often booked up but just wait it out to get in, it's well worth it. I took the beginner, intermediate and advanced classes from Killian. I also took privates and the weekly workshops with him. I thought he was amazing and sung his praises everywhere. Friends signed up with him based on how highly I spoke of him. When Allison Horn was in the room for the last advanced class, (after months of happily training with this guy), Killian decided to go fu*king POSTAL when I was in front of the camera. He just started screaming at me with a rage that felt like narcissistic rage. I froze then he started screaming at me to continue. I did my best but he kept screaming at me. I honesty think he hoped that I would lose my cool and do something like get angry and he'll have that on tape and will send it to other casting directors so that I am destroyed in this town. I meditate a lot and so I was able to keep my cool. I've thought about other people who walk out and lose their cool. Has it affected their career? Is this class worth that risk? If I didn't go to that one class, I would think Killian is truly the nicest guy on the planet. I did his beginner, intermediate and advance (until the last class) thinking that he is the nicest, sweetest guy. Just because he's nice today doesn't mean he won't snap when you're in front of the camera tomorrow. Outstanding, a wealth of information and extremely intense. Fasten your seatbelt and be prepared to learn more about the auditioning process than you thought you already knew. For me it was money well spent. Killian knows the tools required to get that callback while building your self confidence. He is totally up to date on the on-going changes that are taking place in the commercial casting world. Yes, I was a bit apprehensive at first, but magically I began to build confidence and actually considered myself the most improved actor in the class. I highly recommend Killian's Adult Workshop particularly if you are at all serious about landing a callback and booking a commercial. Its been a week since I completed the workshop and plan on taking Killians Improv Workshop in the near future. Let me put it this way; it was like watching a great movie and hoping it would never end. My time in this class (Killians commercial acting class) has taught me some of the most information as an actor thus far. Which is saying a lot considering I have had many professional teachers over 16 years. It astounds me that anyone could say anything other than amazing praise singing reviews. For those people I'm sorry and I would say that they were not prepared for the lessons he had to offer. If you can't appreciate the beneficial information you'll gain even through tough love then don't take his class. If you're an actor that needs to be coddled don't take his class. But if you can handle non personal geniune critique, being told the truth, no wasting of time and hearing what you need to hear to get where you need to be, then take his class. Don't listen to the opposers. Honestly shocked and appalled anyone could say anything other than real and genuine accrediting praise of this class. Go see for yourself. This business isn't for the thin skinned. He will give you exactly what you need if you can handle it. read more

Killian is intense, to the point, knowledgable, and refuses to waste time. He is honest when something does not work and if it does, he is sure to be the first one to acknowledge the step forward. If you want a teacher who is a bit more diplomatic in how he gets his information across the I would hold off from taking this course. I loved the fact he was on time and we were always done at 10:00. My regret was this is not a 6/8 week class ". Killian gives out all the information you need in 4 weeks but I would have loved to explore the technic for another 2 weeks minimum. I just finished my last class for Killian's Adult Workshop last night and I feel like I walked away with new super powers. Let me start by saying, ignore the reviews about him being mean or insulting, do not let that scare you or freak you out. Yes he is tough and it can be intimating but I promise you in the end it is worth it. I have taken a few commercial workshops before this and I believe this one really hits the nail on the head. He helps break down the commercial process to its core and shows you a whole new perspective on it, a lot of things you wouldn't have ever thought of. It is a very humbling experience but I viewed it as a rebirth to the audition world. I now feel that there is no commercial out there that I cannot book. While I was in the process of taking this class I had two auditions which I applied my notes and lessons from the 1 or 2 classes I had been in and I got callbacks for both of them. Coincidence? I am now eager for my next audition to apply my new tools and newfound confidence. You have to remember this is the most competitive business in the world and if you are not willing to give it your all and you do not have thick enough skin to hear constructive criticism than you need to reevaluate your situation. Killian is tough but he is real. I had been hearing about his class for awhile and I am really glad I finally took it, I wish I would have done it sooner. Don't be scared!!
