£4 Thurs/Fri matinees AND a free cup of tea, you say? YES PLEASE. I wholeheartedly support this local, independent cinema. They show a great selection of mainstream and arthouse films, as well as hosting regular film festivals and Q&A sessions with actors and directors. There is only one screen and no popcorn, as it is too messy! :P The screen is big and there are plenty of seats (plus a box which can be hired). I like that amongst the ads and trailers there is always a little trailer type thing for Kilburn and the Tricycle - as much as I love Kilburn, I gotta say, the trailer makes it look a lot nicer/sunnier/friendlier/generally amazing-er than it actually is... :) There are student/oap/local resident discounts available, so be sure to check if you are eligible for any money off! The cinema is housed in the basement of the Tricycle building, which also features a theatre, cafe/bar and art exhibitions. It's light and airy inside (although, there are also splashes of bright colours - such as shocking pink - on the walls), they have a good selection of food, and it's generally a comfortable place to hang out. Oh, and you can often spot a few celebs here, if you find that sort of thing exciting (I do). Watch out for special events in the cinema - for example, they screened Obama's inauguration, complete with all you can eat/drink free bud beer and pretzels (the big squishy ones), performances by a cheerleading troupe, AND everyone also got little american flags to wave! They also did a special dressy event when the Sex and The City movie came out, with free Cosmo cocktails and a Q&A session. Lastly, make sure you go to the toilet before you go in to watch your movie, as by the time you've sipped your FREE cup of tea, you will be bursting by the time the final credits roll... read more

This is the art gallery in the Tricycle Centre in Kilburn (there's also a cinema, theatre and dance studios in the Tricycle Centre). So the gallery is a small, nonprofit, charity funded space in this popular centre. Annually, they put on around ten exhibitions, selected through an open submissions procedure, by the resident curator. This means it showcases a lot of work from recent graduates and Artists just starting their professional career. All of the works shown are available to buy, so this is a great place to pick up a cheap work by an up and coming artist, and on the occasions I've visited there is always a collector or two perusing and spending money! Private Views are always fun, as Tricycle is such a platform for the arts the place has a fantastic buzz and you're compelled to have a look around. Also the gallery is right opposite the bar, which is handy if they run out of free beer! They also offer artists residencies, and are strong promoters of art in education and working closely with local schools and youth projects. I urge you to check out the gallery, i have seen some fantastic exhibitions here this year. And if you're an artist looking for a show, you should definitely try Tricycle. read more

The Tricycle is a lovely not-for-profit independent cinema, theatre, art centre and bar all rolled into one twinkly lighted venue. The cinema tickets are a bit pricey at £9.50 but no more than other London picture houses and all the proceeds rolls in to fund the amazing arts and theatre projects that they put on. They also do 'pay what you can' nights for students, retired and the unemployed and £6 cinema tickets on Mondays. Occasionally the Tricyle hold special gala events such as Q & As and screenings. I saw Kim Catteral talk about Sex and the City 2 here, which is probably one of the more mainstream events they run - generally the films tend to be a bit more indie than that. Kim being the lovely lass she is volunteered her services free of charge in order to help raise money for the venue. On the downside that night, there was a seating error - our reserved seats at the front were given away and we had to sit right at the back. The Tricycle are hot on customer service and made amends with a book, and free cinema tickets. All is forgiven (although not enough to fail to Yelp about it). I like the unconventional lay out of the theatre - love seats that flip up in the stalls and scaffolding with seating on it that shapes squarely around the back of the room. It allows a really flexible space and productions (such as the current Midsummer) can really be playful with that. However if you aren't in the stalls, I do find that sitting facing sideways to the stage hurts my back as you aren't sitting fully on the seats - although conversely my boyfriend said how comfortable the seats were! They don't do popcorn but I just found out that they do *do* art classes. I'm there! read more

I was walking down Kilburn High street late one night. It was raining I had no umbrella and I was soaking wet. I was in desperate need of shelter..fast. From a distance I saw this big metallic sign which says 'The Tricycle' and I'm pretty sure I heard a voice telling me to go. As I got closer to the building I noticed the flashing bulbs by the side of the entrance and a big arrow pointing towards the long corridor. The corridor reminded me of Alice and wonderland with the mirrors on the side and cool little tricycle ornaments dangling from the ceiling. As I entered the room I saw a little box office by the left hand side, a bar and a cafe in the middle. I then realised the Tricycle is in fact a cinema/gallery. I chilled in the cafe bit which is also a gallery, I ordered a cafe latte and sat down to admire the view. One of the best experiences in Kilburn. 5* read more

Fantastic little independent theatre. Great place to catch some fringe-type plays or big names sometimes, who come here to try out new material. You can enjoy a decent view from anywhere in the theatre and the ticket prices are usually quite affordable, compared with some other places. I've not sat in the benches, which are a restricted view. If you are tall I recommend sitting on the ground in the stalls, which have a bit more legroom than the balcony seats. I haven't eaten here, but have sampled the bar which is fine, offering a good variety of wines and spirits to boost your mood before the show. Support the 'little guys' and give them a visit! read more

An absolute London gem. This theatre has consistently good productions, with many transferring to the West End - but cheaper and more intimate if you catch them here first! They always have really interesting new writing that normally has a diverse cast, which is fantastic and really shows up a lot of larger venues. They also have an Under 26 scheme for young people to get cheap tickets. read more

Perfectly sized theatre on the high street in Kilburn. We saw "The House That Will Not Stand", a fantastic new play about a recently widowed placee in New Orleans. You'll have a good view from just about anywhere in this theatre, though the AA seats on the sides of the balcony have a restricted view (20% or so) of the left or right side of the stage. On the other hand, the theatre seats in AA (balcony) are a lot more comfortable than the benches on the rest of the balcony and probably downstairs. There's a great bar and a cinema as well at the Tricycle. read more

I came to Tricycle Theatre to watch the brilliant play "The House that will not Stand" but before that I sat in the cafe and enjoyed the use of free wifi, and sitting in a vintage looking cafe, with a chalkboard of tweets about the current play. You can order at the end of bar, a Caribbean meal for £8! Mann was I looking forward to this it's been a while. I ordered the Jerk chicken, with Rice and Peas and a side salad to my dismay the rice was dry, the chicken moist but lacked flavour, I would of got more flavour from a bottle of Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Sauce! And the side salad looked like it been prepared two days ago. The gentleman serving me was lovely though but if had asked me how the meal was...... The Theatre is a small intimate one. I sat in the best seat, which was downstairs and priced at £28 they do concession for pensioners and the unemployed also. I sat in the F row with the red flip up seating. I liked the lighting sound and you felt you were part of show. I will return, but I will give the meal a miss. read more

The Tricycle theatre and cinema has definitely put Kilburn on the map as a cultural hotspot, particularly as a land mark of quality independent theatre production and films. Ticket prices are reasonably inexpensive, hence the not too comfortable seating. Nether the less, it's a great venue to check out in terms of alternative arts, with an accompanying cheapish cafe bar to accompany the visual entertainment, you could always just pop in for a glass of wine or a coffee separate to screenings. read more

One of the oldest place in Kilburn with nice art deco sign from outside and cosy athmosphere inside. The price is like everywhere in the center of London expensive (around £9) but it's still less than the one in Soho ! There is also some discount if you are studen, unemployed or some special day so check the website for the best discountavailable ! The cinema usually shows independant films and foreigners selection more than american blockbusters that you'll find everywhere else. It sometimes host some special festival such as the Jewish film festival. The place is not only a cinema but also a theatre, a cafe and has an exhibition part. People come for a lecture, a play, a coffee so it sometimes looks really busy even the cinema itself might be quite empty ! Good screen and good size of the room and confortable seats. It's worth going if you leave close by or look at the program for some film that you won't found somewhere else. read more

The tricycle to me is what London is all about to some degree. A small theatre/community venue that at times out does itself. However I will start with my negative feelings initially. Whenever I enter the Tricycle I always having a feeling that it could shut down whilst I am there. I have no idea why this is, but I feel as though I am thrown back in time to the Thatcher era where the continuity may be obliterated, a little like milk being confiscated from children. How we are turning back the clock these days. Anyhow, not that the tricycle has not had its controversys which unfortunately it should really leave alone, and try and retain its community. I went to the cinema on Monday and this is certainly enhanced by their cheap Monday tickets. One must be foolish not to agree to having a tricycle cinema experience on the Monday. Little to say, I do enjoy the cinema, Birdman was just up my street and worthy of some Oscars I imagine, although it will miss out due to being too early in the Year for its release. The cinema is a throw back in time to some degree. It is a little bit of a shame that the employees don't try and enhance the image of the tricycle by being more friendly. If it did then it would have some difficulty in managing a very lovely community centre. A little but of cake dressing would go a long way. My fingers are crossed, but it would require some good old fashioned American happiness to enhance this institution. I am giving it 3.5 stars although this could easily become a 5. read more

Comfortable, quite spacious seats in the cinema but I find some of the seats at an angle in the theatre a bit awkward to watch a show. I've won a few tickets to The Tricycle. The James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' preview, 'Four Kings and a Queen', a very deep French film, tickets to see various productions over 'The Irish Film Festival London', one of them an excellent film about an old woman's children throwing out her mattress that contained a million Euros. The theatre plays have been a bit too lefty-wefty for me and I haven't really enjoyed them. Well done Tricycle for starting off the play about Thatcher and the Queen which I never saw because I never won. Good to see images of The Iron Lady on the Kilburn High Road. There is a nice bar at this complex and I feel it's gentrified Kilburn. Some nicer facilities for smokers would be better. They lose one star from me as I they refused to screen, I think, The Jewish Film Festival. I think it served The Tricycle right that there was a pro-Israeli demonstration outside. A great venue; I went to see a play in the theatre at the weekend (which I highly recommend - Tactical Questioning). I liked the place and its atmosphere so much that I'll definitely be back to try out the cinema too. read more

The place is interesting, compounding different things in one. Tickets are a bit expensive, but not so much comapred to the other theatres. All in all I like this place and I am willing to come and watch something again. read more

La Traviata production was wonderful. Prudence Sanders who plays Violetta is one to watch. Seats are pricey at £26 as are bar prices. £4.80 for a glass of wine which on the hottest day of the year was warm. Comfortable place to check out for something different. read more
