My first experience with Kilwins was in Chicago and now I am ecstatic that they're here on Mass Ave! In a new up-and-coming building, they're going to have so much foot traffic in the summer! There's something sweet for everyone - from soft ice cream and incredible flavors to fresh fudge and warm dipped turtles and caramel apples, my mouth was watering when I walked in. You can smell the waffle cone aroma walking by! I love that you can watch things made freshly so it would be a great spot to take kids. They have a bunch of packaged goodies for later or gifts, too. I can't wait to go back to try some new ice cream flavors as I went with my usual Superman ice cream. PSA: If you have not tried a Sea Foam before, you must get one. Think of chocolate covered crunchy sugar that tastes like brown-sugar but is airy and rich rather than overly sweet. It's amazing This was my first time in a Kilwins (even though I'm from Michigan - gasp!). The variety here is AMAZING and, aside from the variety of chocolates and candies, Indy needed a good ice cream shop. I was thinking this was just ice cream, so was a bit amazed to see the bulk of the store is actually homemade chocolate covered apples, fudge, and all sorts of delicious sweets. Smells amazing, as they are making waffle bowls right off the griddle. Sampled the salted caramel chocolate (which was basically to die for). The hubs had the mint choc chip ice cream, and I had the cake batter, kid size, which was a decent sized scoop. From when I walked in and I smelled the aroma I knew this place was going to be great! The turtle cheesecake ice cream was so creamy and the taste of the cheesecake was like no other. The peanut butter cups could have been a little softer but still good, taste just like a Reese cup. One word: WOW!! 1. Customer service: AMAZING. Seriously, everyone was so so friendly. I couldn't decide which flavor i wanted (they all looked sooo good) so i test-tried like 5 flavors. The guy who helped me out was super kind and wanted to make sure i was satisfied with my choice. 2. The second you walk in you're hit with a heavenly smell. All I can say is delicious! When you walk in to Kilwins you can smell the fresh chocolate or caramel. It can be a bit pricey but worth the extra money. Kilwins weekly hours are limited and only open certain days of the week so check their hours before visiting but they are worth the wait. read more

Absolutely a sweet tooth lovers heavenly experience here! They have a wide selection of different ice cream flavors and desserts as well as handmade fudge. Definitely ask for a sample to see what you like. I bought an assortment of desserts: chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered rice crispies and Oreo cookies. I also ordered the Mackinac island vanilla fudge ice cream in their waffle cone bowls. I'd say the waffle cone bowl is a game changer, they make them fresh and warm and they're so crispy. One of the newest places to tempt you on Mass Avenue is a delightful ice cream and candy shop out of Petoskey Michigan. From the moment I stepped in, I felt like I was going to struggle making a decision: So many candies, taffy apples, fudges, ice creams, and candied popcorn that it is hard to know where to start. Fortunately, I was snapped out of my overload by the staff who invited me to come over and sample some fudge. I also sampled some of the ice creams before making a purchase there too! I think having the samples was enough to clear my head and allow me to feel satisfied with just a half slice of fudge (saved for later) and single cup of ice cream. Yes, the place is more expensive than the fast food soft serve places around town, but even though it is a chain, it isn't as mass produced as some places. They actually make the candied popcorn in the back as well as quite a few of their items. But here is the one thing I noticed that keeps me from giving this place a 5-star rating: Some things I picked to sample didn't taste anything like what I expected. I really loved the Sea-Salt Caramel fudge, but the peanut butter fudge wasn't very sweet and tasted a little "earthy" to me....maybe like unsalted peanuts. I also really liked the Turtle ice cream (with just a hint of salt to offset the sweetness), but was surprised that I didn't like the Banana Fudge Pie ice cream....it tasted like artificially flavored banana. I don't know if they use real bananas or not, but the taste was just different. My advice: Try everything before you buy. You may find some items that you really love! But, you may be disappointed if you buy something just on the name. The store is glad to let you sample the ice creams and fudges, so try them. This is literally the new kid on the block. Chocolate, fudge, ice cream and amazing brittles, either cashew or peanut can be found here. The brittle is light and crisp with a nice crunch. The golden amber pieces are addicting! The store is bright and clean, the owners present, friendly and engaged. This place is gonna do crazy business in the summer. read more

I had been to the Kilwins in Holland, MI several years ago and loved it so I was excited to see this place pop up on Mass Ave! FREE SAMPLES! I have tasted the peanut butter fudge sample every time because I just can't say no, but there are several different fudge flavors to try right when you enter the store. I get the no sugar added salted caramel - very tasty and you can't really tell the difference. I am hoping to see more no sugar added flavors in the future! As well as some outdoor seating... however it's not a big deal because you can take a stroll down mass ave instead. This is the first real Ice Cream Shop downtown. The other two are South Bend Chocolate Company and Sub-Zero. I was very excited to see that a new Ice Cream shop was coming downtown and I tried this very quickly after it was opened. Though it's one of the only Ice Cream Shops, I have to say that it's just normal ice cream and I wasn't as impressed as I am by Handels Ice Cream or even Graeters here in Indianapolis. We visited Kilwins recently to try out their ice cream. It was absolutely amazing. So many flavors and options to choose from, and you can sample to help make up your mind. The waffle cones were delicious and served warm from the heat lamp. The small waffle cone is a HUGE serving, but tasty none the less. There is a kid sized that is not listed on the menu, FYI. The quality of the ice cream didn't match the the price of 2 scoops for $10 bucks. It also didn't have a strong flavor, just kinda bland. My husband and I are fans of Kilwins in WI and MI. When we found out there is a Kilwins in Indianapolis, we were excited. We drove to Kilwins first on a weekend visit to Indianapolis. We were hoping to pick up some chocolate fudge and chocolate-peanut butter fudge, our two favorites. Apparently everyone else's favorites too -- the store had just opened at 1pm, we arrived at 1:15 p.m. -- no fudge or chocolate-peanut butter fudge. : ( Not sure why they would be out minutes after opening? Not sure why some couldn't have been made in the morning? As we were leaving, the two ladies staffing the store were standing at the counter looking at their cell phones. Not sure we will be back and also because the only parking available was $12. It's too bad because Kilwin's fudge is heaven, even at $15/slice. read more

We were in town attending the National FFA Conference and were craving a sweet treat, so we hopped on Yelp and found this cute little shop! The workers/owner were so sweet and extremely kind to us out-of-towners and were so interested is the Conference. We walked about 20 minutes through the dark, rain, and construction from our hotel near the Circle Monument and boy were we glad when we finally reached Kilwins!! The second you open the door to Kilwins you are overwhelmed with the HEAVENLY smell of fudge and waffle cones. I had this for the first time on vacation in Florida and now they have one in Indy! They are a bit overpriced compared to some local shops in Indy, but completely worth it. They have a huge selection of sugary treats to choose from: ice cream, chocolates, fudge, etc. It's a pretty tiny shop, there is not a place to sit inside and eat but with the fantastic location, you can walk around on a nice day and burn some calories while also eating them, haha! Oh my goodness! The proximity of this place to our house is the best yet also trouble. It was great trying all the flavors (the staff was so nice about it) and the store was bright and clean. I ended up ordering a scoop of the turtle and the Kilwin's Tracks. Both were creamy and delicious! My husband got the cookies and cream in a waffle bowl and he said it was the best waffle bowl he has ever had! When I tried a bite, it truly was! It was sweet and crispy. Worth the price, hands down. Prices may seem high, but these prices have been consistent without increases in years. I went to Kilwins for the first time when I was in Florida and was so excited when they opened up in Indy! That being said, every time I've gone to this location I've just been a little let down. Their ice cream is expensive but I've never minded paying because of the wide variety of flavors and great taste - but here I feel like I've always gotten "jipped" on my scoop size, and the texture has been off the last few times I've been. I do however really like their chocolates (carmel chocolate covered Oreo for the win), and you can't beat the smell of fresh waffle cones in there. I'm just left wishing I got more bang for my buck. read more
