I went to their pop up with 1656 Club and it was such a good space to host an event! Great selection of flavors from fruity to creamy to chocolate. They were super friendly and patient as I asked for a lot of samples. The cones were being made when I went so it smelled like sugary heaven. I love that it's by the outdoor community lawn space and cultural trail, this is the place to have a party for sure!

Love this place and the ice cream! Always good service! Right off mass Ave. Never busy. You can try samples. Cute chairs to sit outside. Tried the flight this time. Perfect amount to try different flavors.

One of my favorite ice cream stores around the entire USA. Very cordial staff, welcoming and great at explaining each flavor as well as allowing me to taste a few before deciding. The prices are great too, it was about $7 for two large scoops. The ube ice cream is definitely my favorite unexpectedly, but the cookie nomster flavor is a close second. The Matcha Green Tea was a little bit too light and didn't really have much of a green tea flavor, but the portion size and other flavors made up for it.

Fantastic find!! The homemade ice cream was fantastic! I got the peanut butter brownie and I wish the peanut butter flavor was slightly more obvious. The prices were fair and the waffle cones were amazing!! There is plenty of seating and it is a small shop on the side of Needler's. Service was kind and swift! They even let us sample the affogato using different types of coffee!

They have dairy free options and I believe it changes every month. I wanted to try the matcha but they had hojicha this time. The flavour was okay, didn't have the strong hojicha taste I was expecting (compared to other ice cream I have had before). The waffle cone that was homemade was a little hard to bite. Service was good though and the portion is big. There's also seating if you want to stay in and plenty of space. Decent ice cream, I would try another flavour next time (but I'm dairy free so it might be limited).

Really cool spot downtown, incredibly friendly service. The flavors are very unique and well priced. I had the ube which tastes like you'd expect and the cereal milk which tasted a bit like fruity pebbles. Definitely a good spot if you're feeling a little hot outside.

Great customer service. The folks were welcoming and informative. I visited because I tried their Rum & Raisin ice cream at Rev and wanted more. I decide to come back when it would be available which was the following day. On the first visit, I tried the Lychee and it was nice and light. On my follow up visit, I tried the Ubee and it was so good. I did get the rum & raisin and got two pints at $9 a piece. It is more than I would pay but knowing it is a small business and that they were actually soaking the raisins I purchased the ice cream. Also, they had a diverse set of flavors that would make me want to return.

I love love love Howdy Ice Cream! Every time I go to Needlers, I always stop in for a sweet treat after. They offer so many innovative flavors, but my favorite is the cold brew and cookies! It might be my favorite ice cream flavor of all time actually. I love their mission of championing inclusivity by creating jobs for people with disabilities. The employees that work there are always incredibly kind and willing to chit chat if you want. Highly recommend this place for a good scoop of ice cream and friendly folks.

The young lady at the counter was very friendly. We asked for samples, and she was very accommodating to give us samples. I thought the ice cream really lacked in flavor and so did the other two adults with me. Our teenager did get an ice cream cone and she just said it was OK. Hopefully they will up the flavoring in the ice cream. For instance, we tried the peanut butter and you could not even taste the peanut butter in it at all. I love the idea of ice cream being homemade. I wondered if it really was because most homemade ice cream has a lot of flavor. The place was clean, and there were several tables. This is connected to the Needlers market.

Great service, great ice cream, and great location! I checked out Howdy on a Friday afternoon and was met with the friendliest staff and lots of unique flavor options. I tried their most unique flavor, Dr Pepper, along with a few others, before settling on the cookies and cream Cookie Monster flavor. It was excellent. There were ample seating options both indoors and outdoors, and it was just steps from the cultural trail so I could eat it while exploring Mass Ave. Howdy's mission is to be "on a relentless pursuit to create more jobs for people with intellectual and developmental differences using the power of smiles and amazingly delicious ice cream." Now that is some ice cream and service I can get behind!

Have you discovered Howdy yet? You should. As an adult with a disability myself and as the director of provider relations for the state of Indiana's agency serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, I'm an enthusiastic supporter of Howdy's mission of creating jobs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the power of our smiles and amazing ice cream. Located in downtown adjacent to Needler's Fresh Market, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream was started in 2015 in Dallas, Texas by Tom Landis. He started out as a franchisee for pizza and sandwich joints and became aware of how people with disabilities were often overlooked for the workforce when he hired a young man with Down Syndrome. Howdy has grown to 10 locations nationwide with four in Texas, three in North Carolina, one in Colorado, one in Louisiana, and now one in Indy. Howdy proactively seeks to hire individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD, and as a chain also offers its ice cream at Brookshire Brothers, H-E-B, and United Supermarkets. Prices here are on par with most ice cream shops - a little more than some but definitely lower than others (especially those downtown). The atmosphere is energized and inviting and so are the people. They are an allergy aware ice cream shop and have a wide variety of flavors available including the usual favorites and some a little more outside the box (or is that cone?). I think when I visited they had right around a dozen flavors. They offer a rewards program, as well. Great business. Great mission. Great employees. Great ice cream. I mean, seriously. Why wouldn't you visit?

Ube Ice Cream on a waffle cone

They have Ube Ice Cream in the mid-west!!! The staff is friendly, located in a nice restaurant row area. I had one scoop of Ube on a waffle cone! It was sooooo good

South Bend Chocolate was honestly a great surprise. From the second you walk in, it smells amazing,…read morechocolate everywhere. They've got a ton of stuff from bars, sweets, pastries, and even popcorn. Easy to get distracted. Staff was really nice and helped me find what I was looking for. I ordered the hot chocolate... just one sip and wow, I already knew. This jumped straight to the number one spot for me. Best hot chocolate I've had in the States, no question. The flavor was deep and full. You get those darker, slightly nutty notes right away, then it settles into this smooth, creamy finish that just stays with you. Every sip hits the same, and it just keeps pulling you back in. The whipped cream on top melts right into it and adds a little extra sweetness without taking away from the chocolate. The whole drink felt like an experience. I even asked how they make it and found out they use actual chocolate bars... makes sense. 100% worth it. And definitely be coming back for more.

If you aren't smiling from ear to ear when you walk in this place then you need some major therapy because this is place is pure sunshine & joy even on a cold winter day! There are so many different types of chocolates, candies, desserts, coffees, hot chocolate, ice cream and little fancies for any kind of sweet tooth. I got the Cherry Jubilee Hot Chocolate which literally tasted like a warm chocolate covered cherry. It was so divine. Perfect for the cold weather. We got a little assortment of goodies which included candied blueberries, candied cherries, old fashioned toffee bars and dark chocolate covered citrus peels. The blueberries were the perfect pop of fruitiness. Who knew such a little thing could have so much flavor and put a huge smile on your face. The cherries were tart and sweet and so delectable. The chocolate covered citrus pill was the perfect flavor combination. I love orange and chocolate. It was such a treat to go there. The service was great. She was so patient with me because I could not make up my mind. There were so many wonderful things there. I saved every little morsel. Can't wait to go back.
