This is by far the best strawberry ice cream I've had in Naples. I was thinking that this place was probably over hyped because it was on 5th but when I arrived and there was a literal line out the door, I knew I was in for a treat. The ice cream tastes so fresh and not too sweet and it pairs perfectly with their fresh waffle cones that they make in house (you can smell them outside the doors). Their staff are friendly and helpful as well as patient and professional. They know how to keep the line moving at a steady pace so don't get discouraged at the length of the line. You won't regret it! The prices are pretty similar to that of Subzero or Haagen-Daz. Aside from ice cream, they make their own caramel apples which are to die for! Probably the most expensive ice cream I've ever seen, but my one large scoop of Naples Mud was delicious. Fresh, light, and creamy, it worked very well with the chocolate-dipped sprinkle waffle cone. The interior was clean, bright, and spacious, and I was impressed by the wide variety of flavors. We had a dairy-allergic family member, but even they were able to have a treat among the available sorbets. The employees weren't the most smiley bunch, but they were patient with us 7 family members and efficiently got us the correct orders. There is seating immediately outside the shop, and we were able to snag two tables in the early afternoon; however, I imagine this place can get crowded. So, I am a later in life lactose intolerant. Not to the point of death, but to the point of tummy thunderstorms once my GI tract's dams have been breeched - however, as I got to spend my youth gorging myself on the finest of dairy, ice cream remains one of my favorite treats, despite any resulting discomfort - and I can safely say that after paying my dues in the Kilwin's line (at least 10-15min, regardless of the time of day) - whether you can take dairy like a champ or find it doesn't mesh so well with your body, Kilwin's is worth consuming en masse as it's some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Unlike Adelheidi's Gelato Caffe a bit down the street, which is also quite respectable (though in a bougier way), Kilwin's stays mostly old school with flavors - strawbs, chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, superman (which, ps is one of the most mysterious flavors to me as not much abt flouro yellow, pink, and blue swirls makes me think of our flying hero), rocky road, mudslide, peach, coconut fudge, peanut butter, chocolate chip, mint chip, etc - I can't remember them all and they don't have a list online - but, I think they offer around 20 flavors of that sweet cream shizz and one sorbet. It's not fancy - nary a lavender scented Early Grey or a brown butter carob chunk in sight - but it is pure creamy, smooth seduction. Oh, and if you're not feeling the frozen vibe, they also have heart healthy options such as 8-10 types of fudge (I highly rec the decadent cocoa-y double chocolate and the nutty, smooth chocolate peanut butter), a plethora of caramel apples (nuts, sprinkles, cookie bits, etc), and other chocolates - covered homemade marshmallows, rice krispie treats, dipped dried fruit (orange peel reigns supreme, but they also have peach, mango, etc), pretzels, malt balls, non-pareils, and just to round it out, hella types of salt water taffy - honestly a dentist should stand by the door handing out business cards and see his bottomline triple overnight. Portions are bountiful - a single scoop (which is really equivalent to 2.5 normal scoops) is $4-5 - they have homemade waffle cones (hit the choco dipped for all-star status) - and an array of sundaes - if you feel like you haven't made enough good decisions in one day, you cannot go wrong with anything with more hot fudge sauce - and I think these clock in around $6-8, though I don't quite recall. She charge me almost double of the ammount I pay normally for two Ice cream bowls for me and my wife. I looked at her as "seriously" but I shut my mouth and paid. But so you know GM of Kilwins Naples means nothing for me anymore, this will be the last time you see my face in that place. Thank you for nothing and ripping me off.
