It was one of those days where nothing was going right. I was running late, couldn't find my car keys, I had stepped on something I didn't know was wet and my sock told me before I realized it. It was my best friends wedding and my only responsibility was to pick up her wedding cake from this bakery. I showed up only to realize I had a flat tire getting flatter by the minute. As I began to crash out in the parking lot the owner Paw came out and in a mixture of laughter and concern asked me if I needed any help. God sent. Not only did he help patch my tire, but he also made sure I was ok before getting back on the road. Cake was beyond amazing, but thanks to Paw and the staff I was able to make it to my best friend's wedding on time, cake in tact. read more

New to the area. Came in on a whim for a quick dessert after lunch since we were in the area. They must be known for their cakes because their dessert cases seem like an after thought. The shop is a little all over the place - a no frills spot that could use some updating. Their staff was so busy taking cake orders or out back baking, we ended up having to wait almost 10 minutes just to get some cookies from the case. We will be back next time we need a cake but for now I can only give it 3 stars based on what we saw today. Oh and the cookies...? I really liked them but my husband and daughter did not. Worth the drive. A bit hard to find as it is tucked away at the back of a parking lot. The store is rather small with a couple of display cases and seating for a few people. The website mentioned Mexican Wedding Cakes and butter cookies which I often buy by the pound. Not available ... baking more. Could not come back later so settled on a pre-packed box with an assortment of cutout cookies and various "tea size" cookies. Very colorful. Something to appeal to everyone in our family, ages 6 to 84! Best of all the cookies were delicious. Tasted homemade, not commercial. Good value ... $22 for the box. Consumed within two days. Should have bought a second box! We will definitely keep Mikkelsen's in mind for our next visit to the area. read more

Hands down one of my favorite bakeries in Naples! I always make a point to stop here when I am in town, no matter the occasion. Love the decorated sugar cookies and all the bite size desserts! Tried the chocolate croissant and it was flaky and delicious. The mini pecan bites are delicious for being so tiny, they are packed with flavor. Major proble here!! Needed cake for 11:30 event. Spoke with Owner 2 days ago to order and specified 9:30 pick up, 2 hour refrigeration, etc. Arrived at 9:30 sharp. No cake! Said they wrote down 12:00 pickup. Wrong!! Spoke with owner. Never acknowledge their error. Person who wrote the order was ownners wife, then transcribed by someone else, etc. All excuses. The error was bad enough, but the lack of honesty and service recovery is unforgivable. Will never buy here again. read more

They have the best key lime pie. I tried it at a party and I know I need to drive to Naples to check out this place. It is located in an industrial park. They had big selection of pastry and bakery. In the fridge, you can even find some prepared meals from Wicked Eats by Chef Billy V. We went there for a key lime pie but ended up with more. Well, they were very nice and patient when I ordered a bday cake for my hubby when we came to Naples to celebrate. 4 stars It was a bit out of the way from the Ritz where we were staying bur it looked legit. The carrot cake was tasteless as well as the greasy icing. Meringue cookies were gritty. Muffins were the only items that were somewhat edible but still very greasy. I bake with olive oil instead of butter frequently and my items are never greasy. Long story short...no idea what ingredients are used here. Came in here not knowing what to expect. It's a small area to order food, but you can see through a window where they make all of the pastries. I looked through the case and found a custard filled cronut and pumpkin roll that looked really good. One bite into the cronut and I was won over. Outside was so flaky and the cream inside was fantastic. I will get this every time I come here. The pumpkin roll was also really good. I cannot say enough about this business. People here really care and it shows up in the quality of food and service. We had Chef Steve prepare lasagnes, green salad with two dressings, several appetizers and dropped off a board so he could prepare a beautiful charcuterie for our 20 guests. Then you have the option of cake flavor, frosting flavor, size, and shape. Luckily there are people to help with all these decisions. After much deliberation I chose one from the books, and chose chocolate cake with raspberry frosting and fresh fruit on top. I ordered in advanced and set a day and time for pickup. The cake was ready on schedule, and was even more beautiful than I expected. Given it was for 2 birthdays they had to make some alterations to fit all the writing on top, and they did a good job. We sought out Mikkelsen's Pastry Shop at the recommendation of local friends. This is what a bakery should be, and so many no longer exist or are going out of business. Most enjoyed the Fruit Tart, but anything you pick will be delightful in taste and presentation. We ate in. No coffee or beverages. This is a family-run pastry shop at the end of a road in an industry park setting. Makes sense since they told us that 90% of their baked goods are sold wholesale to area Clubs and Resorts. Owners were present onsite during our visit on a Saturday afternoon. The actual bakery operation is all manual and see-thru glass you can see everything is hand-made. Presentation is beautiful, and other patrons were coming in to order or pickup celebration cakes. Closed Sunday during Winter Hours; Closed Sunday and Monday Summer Hours. Cash-only. *************************** True Story: One pregnant Mom was there to pick up a cake. The shop was in on the plan-ahead surprise. She will learn the sex of the baby when they cut the cake.
