    How it starts

My wife and I visited Sub Zero on a Wednesday night. One couple was there when we arrived, but by the time our ice cream was finished it was just us. The place has a good layout, with ice-cream themed decor and plenty of seating. The main area did have a wall stacked with dozens of boxes and a ladder in public view which could have been hidden away, but it was still comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful in explaining the process to us newcomers. You start with a size of small, regular or large (the small is pretty big, as it should be for the price) and a base (Original, Custard, Low-fat, No Sugar Added, Lactose Free, Yogurt (fat free) and Coconut (vegan). My wife chose the coconut as she is trying to limit Diary and I went with the original, both of us ordering a small. You can then choose one of their 12 pre-set menu items like the Chocolate Conduction or Strawberry Sigma which were the two my wife and I chose, or you can pick your own flavor (about 30 options) and Mix-in about 15 options or another apx 20 sweets like Cookie dough or Twix. My wife's strawberry was lovely, and mine was a bit rich, which I expected based on the ingredients. From here, they add the base and ingredients into a bowl, stir it up, turn non the nitrogen and you watch the worker mix it up for a few minutes. And the final product is some really nice tasting ice cream, made to your taste or diary preferences which are infante. The downside, it's expensive in my opinion. For two small ice creams, a bottle of water and the expected tip during checkout, it was $25.75. As much as I liked it, this will limit my coming back. It's novel and tastes good, but you are paying for the entertainment value which is also a drawback in that it's slow. Some ice cream places have a spout of free cold water on the counter and available to customers, which would be a nice touch considering the price point, saving me a few dollars of needing to buy a water, I think it's worth trying out if your pocketbook can accommodate.

We tried this ice cream place for the first time on a very hot summer day when it was 109 degrees outside! So it was refreshing to have ice cream. The place inside is nice and clean and they make fresh ice cream in front of you using nitrogen gas. They have many different options to pick from and you can customize everything. We went with small waffle cup with pistachio ice cream, coconut milk as the cream base, and then I added some more nuts like walnuts, pecans, and others into the mix. Now as for the ice cream taste, it does taste a little different than your typical ice cream. It's less creamy in taste and the texture of the ice cream is lighter than your typical ice cream. Personally, I enjoyed it. It doesn't make your feel too full. But if you are looking for a rich creamy taste then you can pick a different cream base and see how that turns out for you. Pics are below!

My party and I had a good time at Sun Zero. This Ice cream shop offers a unique experience that is fun and educational. When you visit SZNIC, you are in for a treat for your eyes and palate. I tried the Strawberry Sigma and it was delicious!

A very, very good ice cream place. I love the process of making the ice cream and I can't even describe the taste of the ice cream. It's that good. If I was able to add two bonus stars I would. Love this place.

#1 on the menu. Chocolate induction

This is an amazing experience for kids. You get to pick one of the pre-made "sensation" desserts or you get to make your own. They have tons of flavors and mix-ins. They also have coconut milk for those with a dairy allergy (vegans too!). They do an excellent job with avoiding cross contamination, which I appreciate since my daughter has a mean dairy allergy. Once you choose your flavors, they start mixing and tons of smoke comes out. Quiet the show for the little ones! The ice cream is okay. Sometimes if they put too much nitrogen the ice cream can get way too hard. I personally enjoy coming here to impress my daughter lol , she loves it!

The best way to describe this would be the Cheese Wiz of ice cream. It's like fake food with a bunch of candy mixed in for $10 bucks.

This is a weekly stop for us. The owner and the ice cream is spot on! A great spot for shakes!

Amazingly smooth and delicious. You get to watch the ice cream being made fresh to order or from one of the set flavors they have curated.

Excellent ice cream. My only "complaint" is that it's a bit pricey. But great for a treat.

Love all the options and flavors to choose from, but the cost has just gotten too high. Cost nearly $50 for ice cream for 4 people.

Royal Scoop might be the busiest ice cream shop I've ever been to. I went during Tuesday evening of…read morespring break and it was a madhouse, but it seems like they have a system. It's not super intuitive, so I was glad to go with locals! There's a very long line near the entrance that snakes around, but if things are that busy they open a secondary line to the right, which seems to reward the locals in the know. You place your order and they don't scoop the ice cream immediately, but later on they start calling your name out at the counter. We ordered in a group of 4, and I was surprised to see that 4 different people scooped out our orders so they were calling out the name our order was under left and right. I tried the spumoni (chocolate, pistachio, and black cherry) and the dirty banana and they both were very true to their descriptions. There was a decent amount of seating but it was pretty packed so I think sometimes people were waiting around for a group to leave for the next table, but it wasn't too bad.

This is hands down my favorite ice cream shop in Florida! I only wish they had a location closer to…read moreour side of the state--it would definitely become a regular stop for us. Their Death by Peanut Butter flavor is my absolute favorite--it's rich, creamy, and downright addictive and that's alot from me given I don't have a sweat tooth. Every time we're in Fort Myers, Royal Scoop is our go-to spot for dessert. I love that it's a family-owned business, and the friendly service always makes the experience even sweeter. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some of the best homemade ice cream you'll ever have. It's a total gem!
