I would like to give them at least three stars, but the truth is I will likely not be back to Kilwins. Seeing other reviews I was so exited to try the place I ran down to fix an ice cream urge that had come over me. For me it breaks down like this. The place is OK, just OK, Not really A-OK, I would return to an A-OK place. I don't have an issue with the service received or the food in terms of quality, both were fine. As a matter of fact late on a Sunday night when it looked like they were already in the process of cleaning up for the night, the "Hello" was offered without and begrudging and truly sounded sincere. I ordered a two two-scoop sundaes one with strawberry chunk ice cream and the other with Mint chocolate chip. The strawberry had chocolate sauce over top, while the mint had caramel and rainbow sprinkles. Looking in the candy counter I found a few delectable treats to add onto he order a milk chocolate peanut butter cup and chocolate covered graham crackers. Graham crackers were business card sized but covered with plenty of chocolate and maintained their crunch. at $2 a pop, these were a little pricey but an indulgence I wouldn't hesitate to take. The Peanut butter cup was about double the size of the ones you get in the orange package. I expected a "fresh from the factory" taste, but not so much on these. They tasted like a mass produced large peanut butter cup. Nothing wrong with that at all, except if they are $5 each. When I saw the price I was a little taken aback, but I rationalized for the size and assumed freshness they were worth a try. Given the forgoing they are not worth a retry. I'll take a four pack of the king Size cups in the orange package instead and pocket at least a buck. Looking at the rest of the chocolate it seemed all prices were higher than other chocolatiers on the island. I verified this after stopping into another of my haunts a few days later. The Ice creams were OK as well, just nothing to write home about. My Sundae losses some point because the chocolate sauce was so poor. The sauce on top of the ice cream looked like it had separated leaving chocolate "water" on top and the thicker sauce had run down to the bottom of the cup. All this for the low price of a little more than $3 per scoop of ice cream. My total bill $25. I just don't see me making this trip again to get what was, besides the Graham crackers, just an OK treat. read more

Be ready to open your wallet as wide as it stretches or steer clear of this place. While everything we tried was good, the prices will keep me from becoming a regular. $15 per quart of ice cream, $10 per slice of fudge. Numbers I'd spend more willingly after putting down a few drinks. It's just insane to charge those kind of numbers even if the ice cream is high quality. And it honestly wasn't anything above or beyond what we get from other local ice cream shops. The only other thing I wanted to mention that sucks here.. They have a frequent customer punch card thingy. It sucks because I buy quarts that cost $15 which they give the same credit as if I were to buy a 1 scoop cone. Perhaps it was an oversight, but I even asked the girl "So $30 for 2 quarts gets me 2 stamps for a free cone?" Seems odd. Should be a free quart if I'm crazy enough to piss away $150 on 10 quarts of ice cream. In comparison, $150 at Baskin Robbins sends you home with 30 prepacked quarts. 3.5 stars for the fudge and ice cream. 0 stars for their insanely high prices. read more

Service was very personable and helpful. As others have said, price was steep. However, if the quality is top notch, I am willing to pay. Now on to the treats. Pecan brittle, amazing. Best I have ever had. Caramel popcorn with nuts, good, but didn't seem very fresh. Peanut butter balls, for $2.50 a piece they best be good. Unfortunately, they were not. Peanut butter tasted old. Kilwins is the perfect stop after dinner or just strolling through the village of Patchogue. The fudge is amazing and hand made in store, like most other things in this store. They'll give you samples of anything you want to try and the staff there are very friendly and helpful. We've had the German Chocolate Fudge and the Dark Chocolate Fudge, and both satisfy any chocolate or sweet tooth craving. We also picked up a bag of chocolate covered espresso beans which are a staple in our home and we are happy we can find them so close to home. They offer a variety of other typical sweet shoppe candies, mainly an assortment of chocolate dipped creations, but they do sell candied apples in a variety of flavors, as well as marzipan, lemon drops, and sour gummy bears. We look forward to going back and trying out their ice cream and other candies! read more

An absolute delight! Another cool place on Main Street in Patchogue worth a visit! For one thing, I love how quiet it is; the employees aren't shouting at each other and are very respectful of each other and anyone who walks in. Their caramels are mouth watering, not too sweet, not hard to chew and thankfully gelatin free! I've also gotten chocolates and other assorted candies for myself and friends and we all loved them! The ice cream was delicious and creamy too! I myself am prone to soft serve because I'm sensitive to the icy feeling on my teeth, but this was perfect! One of the best milkshakes I've had out! I can't rave enough about the fudge either! I've had classic, dark, chocolate raspberry, salted caramel, and all have gone above and beyond! Kilwin's, while expensive, is by far the highest quality, best tasting ice cream and confectionery on the island. Their staff is patient, respectful and offers the highest level of customer service. As I sit here, I'm tasked with the feat of writing a review that does Kilwins justice. I don't really know how one does that, but I'm going to try anyway. I should state first that I am quite the conundrum: I absolutely adore ice cream, but can't stomach anything overbearingly sweet. That leaves a really narrow margin of viable ice cream spots for me, but that's okay because I've finally discovered Kilwins! Kilwins sells a variety of confections - I'm sure every one just as glorious as the other, but what drives me here from over 10 miles away is their ice cream. It's so extraordinarily rich and creamy that even the "classic" flavors are imbued with a subtly that makes them stand apart. They offer decadent and indulgent flavors sure to please chocoholics, the range of classics to satisfy the most finnicky, and some fruity flavors as well. Let me be the first to say I've never been fond of fruity flavors or ice cream with things added to it (I'm that one person who dislikes Ben & Jerry's and Coldstone), but this place? This place gets it right. Their Georgia Peach is so refreshing and light. Perfect for those summer nights when you're strolling down the strip. Their lemon flavors are just tart enough where it gives your taste buds a little zing, but you don't feel like you've just gobbled a Warhead. Trust me, from my abundant samples (bonus points for any ice cream place that allows you to sample), the chocolate infused flavors and their classics are just as amazing. So I live right down the block from Kilwin's and wanted to try the ice cream and fudge for quite some time. I have been there several times for the ice cream and am OBSESSED!!!! Everything is fresh as well as the waffle cones. It is a perfect summer treat. The small cone is reasonable for $5.98 and leaves you feeling full afterwards. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because how expensive the store is. I have wanted to try the fudge, but don't want to spend that much on a piece of chocolate. Went to Kilwins the other night. The owner is great and so into it. But of course personality isn't the reason you are there!!! The chocolate and treats surpass all you would expect. Try the fudge (incredible) the caramel apples (incredible) the assorted chocolates are great too. I like the whole look. The staff are friendly and make you feel like you are In a quaint chocolate shop. We enjoyed everything we bought. Of course it's more expensive than chocolate you would buy in CVS but to me chocolate is like wine. You can get a box o wine or a Loire Valley Chardonnay. So if your going for the calories enjoy it. Found out that Kilwin's opened up near me on the Island. Was excited to go and relive my Kilwin's experience in Naples Florida (best ice cream and service). I was disappointed in the portion the Patchogue location served. The same serving in Naples was at least double. The staff was friendly but could use some more training. Quite honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had, and the fudge puts everyone elses to shame. They make almost everything in the store by hand on the spot! I'm talking down to the little things like hot fudge and hot caramel for the ice cream, even the whipped cream is made by hand and isn't that canned stuff. It doesn't get much better than that. Walk by outside and see the fudge or caramel corn being made right in the window, not to mention the fact you can smell it being made half a mile away. The quality of everything in the store is unrivaled and the prices, in my opinion, are more than fair. You get what you pay for in this life, and if you want top quality ice cream and chocolates, Kilwins is your best bet. The staff are so knowledgeable and very friendly as well, always offering samples and answering questions. Next time you go to dinner on Main Street, stop in to Kilwins for dessert.
