I've been seeing a lot about Mia's recently and went to give it a try. It is located in a small set of stores on middle country rd. It is on the smaller side with limited seating. I would say best for groups 4 or less. They have homemade ice cream both that can be ordered to eat right away or packed in pints to buy and take with you. They also offer doggie ice cream options and lactaid tablets if you need. There was one girl working behind the counter at 6:45 on a Friday which made our experience a bit different than the reviews we read on this place. There were 2 other groups in front of us, and a group of 6 walked in very shortly after us which made the place a bit cramped. We had ample time to make our selections. Once we were helped the girl was very nice and accurate with our order. We paid and went out to the car to eat since there was no seating available. As we opened our containers we noticed that the ice cream was already melted. All of the ice cream looked very soft on top in the cases but we thought it's not hot, no way all that ice cream could be that soft. We unfortunately were wrong. The flavor of the ice cream was great and the "chunk" to ice cream ratio is much higher than most other ice cream places which was really nice. We would try it again in the future to see if we can sample some of the interesting flavors they have and to see if maybe at a different time of year the ice cream is not soft and soupy in minutes. (Video included) It's nice to see a small business ice cream shop, we just wish the ice cream was less melted and we were able to receive the experience that many of the reviews talk about.
So the girl that served us was so kind and attentive! We were able to try quite a few flavors before deciding what we wanted. She was so patient throughout and helpful. They have such a variety of flavors here including some spiked ice cream/ices. It's clean inside but certainly small- I was able to not 1 small table inside. I ordered: -Reeses Peanut Butter Vanilla: this was nice- I enjoyed the peanut butter syrup that was incorporated into it the most. It also has peanut butter chips in it and makes for a nice treat. I will say this spot was a bit pricey. Between 2 small cups, one with whipped cream and a waffle cone it came up to $16. I understand it's homemade but I didn't think this would be close to $20. Basically $8 each for their small.
Nothing makes a man happier than GOOD ICE CREAM, especially in this scorching weather. I've been living on Long Island for 20 years and I've never been to Mias Ice Cream kitchen. I would want to give a shout out our server today she was extremely sweet! Did not get her name but the service was excellent. She was patient and offered much needed samples of the ice cream. I would highly recommend the Sweet Mango ice cream. Not too sweet but PACKED with incredible mango bliss!

Our first visit to Mia's Ice Cream Kitchen will certainly not be our last! This small ice cream shop has so many unique and delicious homemade ice cream flavors. The girl behind the counter was kind and patient enough to give us her recommendations and allow our kids to try out flavors until they landed on one they wanted. My husband and I enjoyed the banana salted caramel flavor which was creamy and slightly salty and delicious. The banana flavor was not artificial and tasted like real ripe bananas and we were even happily surprised by the soft Graham cracker chunks throughout the scoops. We sat comfortably inside at a small booth, but saw that there were also some tables and chairs available outside. We made mental notes of flavors we hope to try next time.
Actually I went to Mangiamo Italian market next door ..as I was ready to leave in the parking lot I noticed Mia's next door, what caught my eye was how packed the ice cream parlor was on a cold December day, that alone meant I had to try it , glad I did , the ice cream was delicious, smooth and creamy , service was great, all the customers were repeats , just by the conversations with the owners, and how pleasant and friendly she was, they even sell ice cream cakes, pints to take home , ice cream cups , cones and shakes, also some gifts and utilities are for sale , I enjoyed my vanilla shake with whipped cream & cherry, the shake was perfect , not too thick ..flowed through the straw without struggle, the cookies & dream (Chocolate ice cream with cookies) was fantastic ..free mini candy canes for the holiday season
For my 700th Yelp review, I can't believe I never wrote about one of the best homemade ice cream places in Long Island. We originally discovered this place while at the LIE exit between Exit 52/53 Rest Stop which has a Taste of NY location and sold Mia's ice cream. After looking them up and seeing they have a location in LI, we went to the store. While talking to the owner, Rich, we found out that he named the store after his daughter. This place makes their own ice cream flavors. They have regular ice cream, Italian ice, dairy free, and adult ice cream which includes alcohol so one needs to be over 21 years old to order these flavors. They have a few flavors which are rotated seasonal and have expanded over the month. I have fell in love with Lavender Sky with Honey and Rosy Pistachio. Recently I got a mango milkshake. It's a little pricey though totally worth it. If you go frequently, you can get a reward card and a chance to spinning the wheel to get a prize. The employees are welcoming. You can ask for a taste of any ice cream flavor if you don't know what to order. If you are in the neighborhood, swing by and check.
First off, let me say that I'm a huge fan of ice cream. I make my own homemade ice cream and I take every chance I get to try a new ice cream place . Mia's ice cream kitchen was an outstanding spot. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and the kind lady told me all about the establishment. After Covid, some ice cream places don't let you taste anymore, but not Mia's! That lady recommended me flavors and I ended up trying five or six different ice creams. They have all your generic ice cream flavors and they also have a ton of unique options such as lavender and Ube. I tried the Ube and it was incredible, I've never tasted an ice cream anything like it! They also have a rewards program where you can spend a wheel for a prize! I definitely will be coming back!
*It seems Mr Mia is confrontational on Yelp. I'm just a customer who had a bad Rocky Road batch, I did said my wifes Campfire S'Mores was good so we tried two of your flavors. How about: Mr. Customer, I'm sorry the Rocky Road I made you had stale almonds and not very good. I don't want to read in a reply my Rocky Road taste great and look out for my second store? I told my wife after the movies, we need to check out a new ice cream spot in Centereach. In our neighborhood, we're surrounded by some really good homemade ice cream spots. I'm hoping Mia's can be added to the rotation. We walk into a nice looking ice cream shop. I see on the board lots of wild flavors. I'm not going to jump into anything too complex for my first time here. Orange Cardamom would have been my first choice but the safe bet is simple. I chose the MIddle Country Rocky Road: chocolate-marshmallow-almonds. This be a simple flavor for a homemade ice cream. Epic fail If I was blindfolded and asked what flavor am I tasting? I honestly couldn't tell. The chocolate flavor wasn't pronounced. And when was the last time you had a Rocky Road with nothing in it? That Middle Country Road was smooth as glass, maybe I has a marshmallow bit in each spoon but it was also very scarce. The disappointment was the almonds. The almonds were stale, they were very soft in the ice cream served to me. My wife had a better experience, she ordered the Campfire S'Mores. Lots of graham cracker and marshmallow flavor. Mias, there's too much competition on Long Island to have these types of mistakes. I won't be back.
I ordered from Uber Eats. The ice cream was delicious. I recently ordered the Lavender Sky and the orange cardamom with hot fudge and devoured every yummy scoop. They also have adult ice cream like Irish cream, The Dude (AKA: White Russian), and you won't be disappointed.

Mia's Ice Cream was so good! Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup -- delicious, smooth, perfectly cold. Mint Chocolate Chip -- just the right amount of mint and chocolate chips. They also have adult ice cream flavors with alcohol. The girl working the counter was so friendly and patient with everyone wanting samples. While we were sitting and eating, she even came over and offered us a taste of the Cherry Amaretto after we tried the Coconut Rum flavor -- and no worries, you can still eat and drive lol. The owner came over and talked with us for a while too. Super personable guy who clearly loves creating new flavors. I requested a future flavor with coconut, almonds, and chocolate chips -- basically an Almond Joy ice cream -- so hopefully he gets on that, lol! I'd give the overall experience a 9/10 only because I could see seating being tough when it gets busy, but the ice cream itself is definitely 10/10!! read more

Their adult ice cream is amazing!!! Not overwhelming not to light. I had the banana foster and adding caramel, perfect!!! Service was good, they let you try the flavors if you are curious. Like all the best ice cream shops, you can get pints to go as well! Seating is extremely limited, this is more of a to go spot, but you can get a spot if you are lucky. read more

Favorite ice cream on Long Island. Interesting flavors, generous portions, and great topping (love the peanut butter syrup). Always get the vanilla with peanut butter cup and try one other flavor. The dark chocolate is rich and tasty. Definitely try if you haven't. I go whenever in the area, it's far for me. read more

Small ice-cream shop with some of the most awesomesque and unique flavors around! My wife and I drove 50 minutes to check out this spot. As soon as we walked in, I wanted to sample all the flavors. Do I get Lavender with Honey, Rosy Pistachio, Orange Cardamom or Spicy Mango??? Or maybe one of the adult flavors? I sampled a couple and they were all delicious. Ended up ordering the Rosy Pistachio. My wife ordered the Orange Cardamom and she loved it so much that we bought a quart size container to take home. We will definitely be back to try a different flavor. read more

Greetings Yelpers, My first visit here as I was at the Clay Oven so I decided to treat my sweet tooth.. I ordered a large cup of Kulfi ( Indian Ice cream with pistachios & the SCPD ( coffee & donuts) Ice cream was sort of creamy but lacked any in depth flavors. The menu has some interesting flavors to try I found $7.75 for a large cup of ehh dessert a bit much. 4 stars for staff both friendly & welcoming. read more

Best homemade ice cream parlor on Long Island! We discovered this place only by chance after eating at another restaurant in the area. It has now become our go-to ice cream spot on the Island. Their range of flavors doesn't exist anywhere else, especially the adult flavors! I love the Irish Cream and Bananas Foster, while my wife is a fan of Mia's Sangria. The SCPD (coffee and doughnuts) is also amazing with real pieces of doughnuts found throughout the ice cream. I also recently have been trying their South Asian flavors including Kulfi -- a completely new experience to me! If you're tired of all the same-old, same--old, then this place is right for you. It's also right for you if you like supporting small, family-owned local shops on the Island. The owners are lovely, passionate about their product, and named the place after their daughter Mia. Came back with the kids finally and I must reiterate my five star review. I had the non-alcoholic banana flavored ice cream and it was out of this world. I popped a little bit of peanut butter on it was just incredible. My daughter ordered lavender ice cream with coconut shavings and she loved it. My son ordered, the cookie flavored ice cream with chocolate sauce and it was outstanding. My other daughter ordered mint chocolate chip, and she also loved it. Another thing that really stands out at Mia's is the customer service. My middle daughter sometimes takes quite a while to decide on a flavor. The staff behind the counter was just great, letting her sample, a bunch of different flavors and waiting very patiently for her to make her decision. I really highly recommend this place and I wish I could give it six stars for the great group of kids that were working there tonight. read more
