As I began to outline what I needed, I saw immediately that Mr. Busman never met a sentence he couldn't interrupt. Five minutes later, he was telling me that he would suggest a whole other type of legal transaction, and I'd tried three separate times to say "that sounds sensible, but my client has already had it drawn up this other way, and we've agreed to the essence of the terms so I'm not sure she'd be open to restructuring"--but I just was not being permitted to get all that out. I finally said, "You know, I think I have all the information I need; I don't think this will be a good fit, but thanks for your time and good night." Then I hung up. Can I just tell you that man apparently stewed for five minutes and then CALLED ME BACK, all accusatory? "Miz So-and-So, are you interested in doing business with our firm?" Umm. "Well, no; as I didn't feel I was being heard during our conversation, I don't believe we'd work well together." Guess he wasn't listening to what I was saying then, either, since the next thing out of his mouth oh my god I swear to you was "So you just wanted some free legal advice?" Wow. In sum, if you would like to retain an attorney who is incapable of letting another human being finish a sentence, who wants to tell you your situation instead of being told, and who will go out of his way to pull a petty, vindictive stunt if you've ticked him off, then by all means do hire Marc A. Busman, Esquire. Otherwise? There's a surfeit of lawyers competing for too little work these days, so cross this one off your list with confidence.
