Say 3.5 stars... We decided to give them a well-deserved second chance and we are glad we did. We came in on a Sunday evening and had such an amazing time. We were immediately served chips and salsa and ordered margaritas which were delicious. I didn't see it on the menu but they have two sizes for the drinks, I had a regular size margarita and my husband got the large one which was substantially bigger. We ordered the "fajitas for two" with a combo of steak and chicken and there was so much food we brought some leftovers home. Portions are generous, they definitely don't skimp out on side dishes or appetizers. The food had potential, but the only thing that came out hot were the plates. That was pretty disappointing. It seems like chain Mexican restaurants are popping up everywhere, however, don't let that deter you. The food here is so fresh and delicious. The quesadilla Birria is fantastic. Have not had a bad meal yet and we have been several times since it opened. I can't give a review on anything other than the Birria because I refuse to try anything else. My favorite margarita is passionfruit on the rocks or frozen, both fantastic! Margaritas here are so good. Guacamole is made at your table. We came to eat at this place 3 weeks ago and it was great, the food the service was excellent. So we came back again today at 1:30 and the girl that seats you saw us come in but she was talking to a customer and then seated her. When she came back 5 mins later this other couple just came in and she ignored us completely and seated them. We had already been waiting 10 minutes we couldn't believe it so the 3 of us left very upset and we won't ever go back. Based on the good reviews, I may have come on a bad day at a bad time? When we walked in the place was dead empty. It was around 3pm. That was the first red flag. The waitress was not exactly rude but just stone faced and very clearly did not want to be there. Looked rather young as well. I think this is probably their first job, or close to it. Doesn't know how to deal with human interaction yet. The food came quick. Alarmingly quick. The plates were so hell fire burning hot it could only mean one thing; microwaved. The taco shells were soggy, and at that point I had come to the conclusion the entire meal was microwaved on the plate and then served to me. The only saving grace here is that the restaurant was beautiful, the music was nice, and I could tell if it was served fresh the food would have tasted great. What a shame. read more

Rio Bravo Tacos & Tequila opened recently at Orchard Hill Park, in the former TGI Friday's next to Olive Garden. This Mexican restaurant and bar is very lively with colorful decorations throughout the restaurant and loud upbeat Mexican music. The place has booths and tables in the dining room and more seating in the bar area. I stopped by recently for an early dinner at Rio Bravo in Leominster. They are affiliated with Ocho Cafe which has area locations in Westford and Weymouth and the menus look similar, but vary from Rio Bravo (no lunch options here). I was seated at a booth and given food and drink menus. The prices here are moderate, $16-$25 range for most entrees. A basket of complementary chips and salsa was brought out along with my requested ice water. The chips were crunchy and salsa was liquid and mild. I ordered the Seafood Chimichanga ($20 plus tax) served with rice, beans, pico de Gallo, shredded lettuce, avocado slices, and sour cream. My food was served remarkably quick in about 5 minutes served very hot. The fried Chimichanga was filled with sauteed shrimp, bay scallops, tilapia, mushrooms, onions, peppers, celery and cheese and topped with a seafood guajillo sauce. The Chimichanga was pretty good. The Mexican rice was decent and the red beans were served like a soup. I finished my plate and the server promptly stopped by and asked if I wanted dessert, which I declined since I was going out for ice cream afterwards. The check was immediately presented which was $21.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, a filling meal enjoying one of my favorite dishes (seafood chimichanga or burrito) on a hot evening. The place was nice and cool inside. The service was adequate and prompt on this visit. I am planning to eat at their other restaurant Ocho Cafe very soon since I have a coupon to use there. read more

The salsa served with the complimentary chips was no joke - loved the kick of the fresh cilantro! Both our meals were great - Chicken Fajitas and the house special tacos (menu purportes it's Grandma's recipe!) we're magnificently juicy and flavorful.
