    Small table in the room

This hotel is located in the Central Business District close to the French Quarter and Caesar's casino. I did like my premium room with city views with Atelier Bloem products. I first walked into the lobby but was disappointedly not greeted by anyone. There was no one at registration to help me. I had to ask the valet attendant to get someone to help me out at registration. Upon entering my room, my first impressions was that it looked nice but upon closer inspection, much of the furniture shows signs of aging. At least the bed was comfortable, but the light switches for the room were not conveniently located to the bed. There were a couple of restaurants downstairs. For breakfast, I got to go to Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats and also KING brasserie and bar. Although I did like my room, I didn't like all the extraneous charges on my account. If you stay at this hotel, you must monitor all your charges. Keep all of your receipts and take pictures of them as you are signing them especially if you are billing to your room. The mini bar charges didn't match the price list in the room. Although the staff did fix my bill at the end, i didn't like seeing charges that did not match the amounts that I signed for.

What they advertise is NOT what you get! This is the website, compare to my other images.

New Orleans during Carnival season, right before Mardi Gras, is a beautiful, sweaty fever dream, and Kimpton Hotel Fontenot looks to be the grown up oasis where you can hit pause, cool down, and reenter the chaos on your own terms. We came intentionally the week before the true weekend stampede, Monday through Friday, for the food and the culture, not the Bourbon Street blackout Olympics. That context matters, because the Fontenot is positioned perfectly for our kind of trip: downtown, walkable, and close enough to the parade route that you can catch the energy without letting it eat your whole day. Downstairs, they nail it. Henry at check in was the blueprint: sharp, welcoming, knowledgeable, and he set the tone you expect from a property that prices itself like it has nothing to prove. The public areas are stylish without being sterile, and the little things help, like being able to grab a lint roller or mouthwash from the desk when you're trying to look presentable in a city that actively fights hygiene this time of year. The comfort basics were legit. The bed was genuinely luxurious, the kind that makes you start thinking to yourself "we can skip it we are on vacation." The toiletries were excellent too, body wash and shampoo that actually feel premium home instead of hotel filler. Upstairs is where the cracks start talking though. We booked the King Premium with sofa bed (listed at 420-430 sq ft) after reviewing the room photos. At check in they framed it as an upgrade to a "junior suite," but what we got was a single room with a bathroom, no separate living area, no real suite layout, just more open space. Call it what it is. The room also felt oddly unfinished: big blank walls, zero view, and too many signs of wear for the premium price point. Bathroom corners showed heavy water damage and rot, plus scuffs, scratches, and stains that should not be there at this tier. The nightstand charging area had a thick layer of dust, and one of the two $10 waters on arrival were empty. That's not luxury, that's a shrug. Then there were the operational tells that didn't help. A slice of pizza sat on a paper plate in the hallway near the elevator for well over 30 hours. That's not "Carnival is busy," that's a hole in service. King Brasserie also had reduced breakfast hours for a private event during our stay. Totally fair to host events, but if it's planned far enough in advance to sell and staff, it's planned far enough in advance to proactively set expectations for guests. Even a simple "note for your upcoming stay" would have solved that. And the hotel's parade view upsell was messy. We got a mass text at 5:30pm the night before Muses pushing a paid terrace activation on Eventbrite with a promo code that didn't work, and the front desk didn't seem able to help. For two people it would've been about $280 just to get in, and drinks were still around $17 each, so we skipped it and opted for a bleacher seat down the street for $25 a head that included a drink. We met some amazing locals and were ten feet from the floats. Charge for a curated view if you want, but do not run it like a last minute FOMO toll booth with broken discounts and internal confusion. Here's the straight answer: using the Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit credits and promos made this stay worth it. Without those offsets, I'd stay elsewhere and just come back for the Peacock Room, because that part is genuinely exceptional. Photos included. Three are from the website for contrast, the rest are our actual room and the property. I'll leave separate reviews for King Brasserie and the Peacock Room too. Final note: Fix the mold, rot, stains, and the basic ops holes. It has good bones but Mardi Gras or not, this was kind of a letdown for an anniversary trip at a Kimpton "four star" property.

I visited during the French Quarter festival weekend in April. We were comfortable here but ran into 2 major issues which I'll explain later, hence why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4. I liked how clean and large the room was. The mini fridge kept things only somewhat cold. There was just one bathrobe in the closet and no slippers, though they were able to provide thin, complimentary slippers upon request. There was something about the shampoo that I must've been allergic to because every time the shower steam picked up, I would sneeze nonstop all night. It smelled like black pepper. The shower pressure, however -- wow! It was so strong we felt like we were being washed by a fire hose haha. Their gym is clean and sufficient. There's a variety of equipment. No light hand weights, however. There is a filtered water dispenser and cold eucalyptus handtowels. One large single stall bathroom in the gym, but no shower. Their Peacock Room restaurant was fantastic for brunch/lunch. Their Gospel Cafe staff was friendly and had many tasty to go options, like pastries and a variety of coffee drinks which they change up quarterly. Now onto the major negative: Unfortunately, we never got to try King restaurant for breakfast because the person who checked us in -- and all of the printed materials they gave us -- stated incorrect breakfast hours. This impacted other hotel guests as well who were behind us when we all showed up for breakfast and were delivered the bad news upon trying to dine in. So we never actually got to use our daily breakfast credit at King that entire weekend. It was really disappointing given it was due to miscommunication from the hotel staff. It's not what I paid for. They also couldn't deduct it from our bill, so we ended up having to eat Gospel Cafe pastries the entire weekend for breakfast (the only open place we could use our credits) which was not ideal. We wanted to have a real breakfast. Imagine trying to use $90 in credits on just croissants and coffee. But they didn't have any other options as they had ALSO CLOSED Peacock Room all day -- during a popular weekend -- for a private event, leaving guests with no alternatives. Other hotel guests who learned this at the same time as us were pissed. So Gospel café was crowded and sold out of certain items like wraps earlier than usual too. Really annoyed by this. Also, I don't see why they can't deduct the hotel credits at the time of billing, rather than making guests wait until hotel checkout when we're rushing to the airport and don't have time to go over the strangely named line items on the final bill.

My best friend and I did a birthday trip to New Orleans and stayed here. Overall I really liked this hotel and I would recommend it, but I did experience some hiccups. I had booked the king premium historic room, which is in a separate tower. The room was stunning. But it came with a host of issues, including: 1) A heater that was so loud every time it was on that it shook the room and the bed 2) The heater never actually got warmer -- it was set at 72 and after 8 hours it was still 65 3) The shower had a closed door but water streamed out underneath it and soaked the bathroom floor within 30 seconds 4) There were supposed to be bathrobes but the room didn't have one I ended up switching rooms because when I went to tell the front desk about these issues they were horrified. (Shoutout to Stormi for being so amazing, and to Bill for helping me transfer everything from one room to another and even hanging my clothes in the new closet!) I was moved to a regular king room which was probably less money than the premium historic, but I didn't fight that because they comped my amenities fee for the entire trip. The new room was very nice, fairly basic but a decent size and definitely didn't have any of those issues. Upon checkout, I had two separate issues with my bill (mini bar charges when I didn't use it, and charging me for something instead of applying a birthday credit from my brother), but I was able to get those resolved. I do recommend dining at The Peacock Room -- great food and drinks. I'd skip the coffee shop which is incredibly overpriced, and King Brasserie which was frankly just meh. Depending on your room, this is a good hotel and the service is spectacular.

We love Kimpton! They're pet-friendly, gorgeously decorated, and very modern. The location of this Kimpton isn't as central as other hotels, but it's just a few blocks from Canal Street. We were able to easily reach the heart of the French Quarter via Lyft (~5 min), the Trolley (~20 min), or walking (~20 min). But I still love staying here overall when we do visit because you can't beat the service or atmosphere here. The French Quarter can be a bit rowdy at times and it's nice to come back to your hotel and have it be a peaceful refuge.

Hospitality and Hotel staff 5/5 Hotel quality 4.5/5 Room comfort 4.5/5 Restaurants 5/5 Don't pass go and stay here! Prime location, excellent food onsite and nearby, The Quarter, Frenchmen art and music scene + near Caesar's Casino. Emma is amazing holding down the front desk and always with a smile. The service at this hotel is consistently above expectations. The hotel has undergone a major expansion with new rooms but we love the old rooms with lots of space. Hot coffee complementary every morning or you can make it boozy at the adjoining cafe. The baked goods are amazing, cooked on site by an experienced and friendly pastry chef who believes in making real butter pie crust, and croissants. 3 restaurants all delish! Boozy cocktail, restaurant takes breakfast to a new level don't forget the quiche Lorraine and the crawfish beignets sooo good

Had a great stay here, we were here for 3 nights. Hotel staff are all very nice, room was cute and clean, and check in and checking out was easy. Doormen were also very friendly. We booked a two queen room, nice and spacious, bathroom was also very spacious which we loved. Liked the neighborhood, it's kind of in between the warehouse district and the French quarter, kind of downtown area. We felt perfectly safe walking, we actually walked everywhere most of the time. We walked to the French quarter, walked to the Treme neighborhood, and also walked to our hotel from the smoothie king arena after a game. So a very good location and great for walking if you don't mind walking 15-20 minutes. It's actually really nice to avoid car traffic and see more of the city. 10/10 recommend this hotel if you are visiting New Orleans, will definitely rebook when we come back. We stayed 1/30/25 to 2/2/25 so shoutout to all the hotel staff who were working those days. They also have a restaurant and coffee shop on site, as well as a bar/lounge type of place that also has events or live music some nights.

Of all the kids in the IHG family, Kimpton is my favorite. The customer service is always top shelf. Each one has carefully curated art that reflects the local area. And there is nothing like sinking into a Kimpton bed after a long day of exploring a new city. One of the things I appreciated the most about this stay was the fact they honored my 11-month old reservation and the price it was booked at instead of cancelling and forcing me elsewhere or charging hundreds above market during the Eras Tour weekend. The Fontenot thoughtfully added events catering to the Swiftie population. (Kitten yoga! Brunch with a glitter station and beads to make more friendship bracelets!) It's a short walk to the French Quarter, which means it's also much more quiet. If you're in town for a "regular" weekend in NOLA, you can't go wrong at the Fontenot.

Prime location in the Central Business District. One of my favorite places for cocktails is inside the hotel. I appreciate the late checkout and upon arrival they gave me two complimentary beers.

Just finished a wonderful 6-night (staggered) stay in December '24 Booked: King Premium, Diamond upgrade: 1BR King Suite Spa (#1206) Suite tour/walkthrough - https://www.hotelfontenot.com/new-orleans-accommodations/hotel-suites/ Welcome drinks: beer/water, coloring material for DS "Chalet All Day" seasonal "secret" social password: $40 prop CR (x2), Danish butter cookies (tin) Suite came with an empty minibar/fridge (requested), microwave (requested), + assortment of snacks - cookies, rice crispy treat, etc. (service!) Coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar, 7-10am Social (wine) hour, 5-6pm Diamond Elite free breakfast/brunch (for 2) vouchers Weekday: King (7am-1pm) Weekend: King (7am-1pm) or Peacock Room (*preferred*, 9am-3pm) I tried the following for breakfast/brunch/dinner King: King Breakfast $19, Quiche Lorraine $13, Farm Egg Frittata $15, Croque Madame $18, King Burger $22, Crawfish Beignets 4/$8, Prime Baseball Steak $22 (kids menu) Peacock: **Shrimp & Grits $25**, Banana Bread French Toast $15 All the above dishes were quite good; however..... **Shrimp & Grits** = FANTASTIC!!! (must try!!!) Central location = extremely convenient. EZ access to Street Car(s), Central Business District, Warehouse District, French Quarter, Riverwalk, WWII Museum, etc. Gym (L2) is good (enough), 24/7, filtered water, cold towels, etc. Free postcard station (including postage) is a nice touch! **The bedside table power/charging stations have an extremely annoying green light above the (3) USB ports, making it extremely challenging to fall asleep. An engineer can put black tape over it (upon request). HUGE shout out to GM Jesseca Malecki for the gracious upgrade, as well as Leslie for her wonderful service/conversations at King Brasserie + Peacock Room! Can't forget Aaliyah, TaTyana, Raye, Jerna at the front desk! Thank you for the wonderful experience and gracious hospitality!

IHG diamond elite and kimptons always take wonderful care of us. Upgraded to the Beche Suite. What an amazing space. Top floor in the historic pert of the building. Checkin was spectacular by Vendula. She was so welcoming. A nice bottle of chilled champagne was waiting for us. From start to finish we just loved this property. Close to many attractions. All the staff were superb. Bed was comfy. The curtains in the room however were not the best in controlling light coming, a sleep mask fixes that. Highly recommend! The restaurants on the property were fantastic as well!

Neat touch in lobby - send a postcard opportunity!

Ask the Community - Kimpton Hotel Fontenot

Is it possible to find some street parking around or is it pretty much valet parking all the time?…

It's possible to find street parking, but I wouldn't ever count on it. Best solution is to park at Harrah's and use your Caesars Rewards card for free parking.…

    Do you have pool?

    No, there is no pool.

One of my favorite moments was chatting with a gentleman in the lobby who helped with our luggage. We mentioned we were visiting from Pennsylvania, and he shared that his very first job was in Pennsylvania and actually knew our area. It was one of those authentic conversations that makes you feel more like a guest than just another room number. Our room in the older section was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. Housekeeping and the nightly turndown service were exceptional. We also spent plenty of time at the pool, where the staff and bartender were fantastic. The drinks were great, the food hit the spot, and the Fourth of July pop-up DJ made for a really fun afternoon. The service was so personal that one of the bartenders recognized us by name when we ran into her on the street a few days later. The only miss during our stay was the famous Carousel Bar. We never managed to get seats at the actual carousel during our four nights--which is understandable given how popular it is and being the 4th of July weekend. We did sit just behind it. Unfortunately, the service there was noticeably unfriendly and felt completely out of step with the incredible hospitality we experienced everywhere else in the hotel. That one experience wasn't enough to overshadow an otherwise outstanding stay. Between the beautiful historic décor, unbeatable French Quarter location, easy access to everything, and a staff that truly cares about its guests, Hotel Monteleone absolutely lived up to the hype. The 2 things I care most about when staying in a hotel is a comfortable night's rest and a good bathroom/shower. The bed in our room was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was so mushy that when you laid your head down, you sunk so far into it that your legs were literally 45 degrees above your head. I ended up sleeping upside down in the bed with my head where your feet go in order to feel even remotely comfortable. The pillows were all extremely flat, when you put your head on one it sank so far your face was about 1/2 inch from the mattress. I had to use 3 pillows stacked on each other. I had a stiff back, neck and joints the entire time we were there. The 2nd issue was hot water. The first morning, we attempted to shower, it only got barely luke warm for me and when my husband showered immediately after he only got ice cold water. We stopped at the front desk that morning on our way out for the day and told the woman at the front desk. She said she hadn't received any other complaints so it must be specific to our room and she would send engineering there to look at it. (we were getting hot water in the sink). Later that evening when we returned to our room, we immediately tested the shower again and it was still ice cold. So we went back to the front desk to check if engineering had come. We spoke to the same woman from the morning who acted like it was the first time we were telling her this and she said the exact same thing. I asked if they were going to come ASAP because we needed to shower soon and we couldn't take ice cold showers. She ignored my question and answered the ringing phone. A manager happened to be at the desk and overheard our conversation. He asked what our room number was and said that because of the old building and the pipes the hot water takes longer to get there. He said this was a KNOWN Issue by the staff, management and the owner. He told us to run the shower for AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes, simultaneously with the sink and it should get hot. He also offered to move us to a different room but when I asked if he could guarantee if we wouldn't have the same problem in that room he couldn't give me a straight answer. We had already unpacked everything and didn't want to go through that hassle without a guarantee. So we went back to the room and let it run for 20 minutes and it eventually got hot. So for the remaining 3 mornings, we had to set our alarms for 30 minutes earlier so we could get up and run our shower before hand. For nearly $300 a night, we felt that this was ridiculous. Old building or not, if its a problem, then either don't put people in those rooms, or get it fixed somehow. Why should anyone be subjected to an ice old shower or an inconvenience to their time because the owner hasn't done anything about it? We visited the hotel Bar, the Bourbon O'bar 3 times during our stay and each time we received TERRIBLE service. None of the bartenders were friendly to us, in fact they were pretty rude. Each time it took them at least 10 minutes to even take our order (by standing there and looking at us and not saying anything). The bar was not busy or crowded any of these times. They would then start making one of our drinks, put it down and make other people's drinks, leave and go into a back room, play on their cell phone, talk to each other, or carry the glass around while doing other things. My husband ordered an old fashioned and the alcohol was sitting in the jar with the ice for over 5 minutes while the bartender carried it around doing other things, causing it to get watered down. When making a cocktail, it should be completed from start to finish without doing other things in the middle. I ordered the Mardi Drop cocktail on 2 different days. The first time, it was actually very good. The 2nd time from a different bartender it was horrible .He also sprinkled probably a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of it (which the first didn't have) which made it nearly undrinkable. I had to stir it into the martini in order to not get a mouthful of cinnamon with each sip. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant Roux because of the bad Yelp reviews - we felt we could get a better breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all unless you don't care about being comfortable or friendly service.

We could walk to so many restaurants, shops, and things we wanted to do in the French Quarter without constantly needing a car or Uber. The courtyard was one of my favorite parts of the hotel. It's so pretty and peaceful to sit out there after a busy day walking around the city. The pool area was also really nice and made me wish we had packed swimsuits. We did have an issue with the AC when we first checked in. We came back to the room later and realized it still hadn't cooled down. Staff did send someone to look at it, but we sat around waiting for a while before finally being moved to another room. I just feel like that part could've been handled a little quicker. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice, the location was great, and overall it was a really good experience.

Check in was easy and friendly. Past the lobby you exit into an open air courtyard where your room will be in 2 or 3 separate buildings. In the courtyard is the pool and sitting areas with trees. My building had 4 floors with an elevator. My room was nice. I had booked one of their windowless rooms and it was quiet. No outside traffic noises, sirens, etc. A fire station is close by. It had an exposed brick wall, comfortable bed and bathroom with a large walk in shower. I would get this room again. It was lower in cost and I don't think I missed anything not having a window and like I said it was quiet. This is a nice and well kept property with a great location. I would be happy to stay here again.

Just be prepared for the wall of noise if you're staying on a Friday and Saturday night and have a room facing Bourbon Street; you will need more than the sound machine and earplugs the hotel provides you. But if you're there to party hard on Bourbon Street at all the touristy bars, then you will be in your element. Depending on the side of the hotel you select when booking your room and the days you choose, you may be able to get away with just a sound machine and earplugs, or you may be getting too old and need to look elsewhere. If you stay on the courtyard side, you should have enough barriers to deflect the nonstop barrage of noise coming from all the bars and clubs on Bourbon Street, especially between Bienville and St. Ann, on a Friday and Saturday night particularly. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street that gave us a great view and the opportunity to enjoy wine and cocktails as the festivities picked up steam throughout the afternoons of our stay. The bed was wicked comfortable. The set of drawers had plenty of space to put clothes with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. The closet space was ample and was able to fit all of our hang-up clothing and our suitcases. There was a nice lounge chair next to the desk to chill if you didn't want to sit on the balcony. However, the bathroom was cramped and narrow with these weird double doors that could cause trouble if you are going to do business in the middle of the night. The water pressure wasn't great either and if you don't have the curtain positioned right then you're going to have a puddle. Housekeeping did come by to change our linens and provide fresh towels every day, which was appreciated. The front desk was very affable and accommodating, especially with holding out luggage when our room wasn't quite ready yet to check-in. And I liked that there was a security person checking people that were actually staying at the hotel to avoid stragglers, random drunks, and transients from entering. I didn't have the chance to use the pool while I was there, but we were busy walking around the French Quarter to really care. Same went with having anything in the restaurant for food. They did have the little mini mart on the ground floor that worked for when we needed more bottles of water that were larger than the complimentary ones. Accommodations at the hotel were solid, but just know if you stay here, you're experiencing the full Bourbon Street treatment. It is always loud at night, especially, on the weekends.

The Davenport Lounge features excellent, easy, accomplished jazz courtesy of Jeremy Davenport and his quartet most (but not all) evenings. The food in the restaurant is excellent (as is the service), and staff throughout the venue and spa are top notch - friendly, courteous, uniformly professional. One of the great things is location - it is a very short walk to the crazy of the French Quarter, but a block away - so you have the safety, privacy, and isolation from the party when you need it, you aren't confronted by it as soon as you walk out the door of the hotel, but you are just a short walk around the corner to everything the Quarter and Bourbon Street have to offer. As an historic building, the architecture and aesthetic is much closer to "elegant old New Orleans" than, say, the Four Seasons (very very modern, almost cold presentation) or, for example, the Royal Sonesta which is smack dab in the middle of the crazy. When we come back to NOLA, it will be to the Ritz Carlton.
