We moved into our new home to discover significant yard drainage issues, complicated by the grading of the properties around us. Several landscape companies are no longer offering yard drainage projects, or are simply inexperienced. During a chance, meeting with a well respected private engineer in our community, Danny's company was recommended to me, as he is one of the most reputable companies in our area, and has several large scale, municipal and residential drainage projects under his belt, as well as a trusting relationship with the town engineers. We needed someone professional to spend a good amount of time, thinking about our issue, and devising a plan to solve in a durable manner. That is exactly what Danny was able to do. He came to our property multiple times, sometimes by himself, and sometimes with colleagues to assess. Eventually, he came up with a plan. As this was a large scale, drainage project, his professional staff linked me to financing options, and this past fall the work was underway. The project was completed in a timely manner and looked amazing. Danny and his crew created an intricate system of underground drainage to not only capture surface water but also water below the surface, allowing the property to dry properly. Immediately the drainage system began functioning correctly, and our property is now dry and usable for our family. This spring Danny and his crew have already been over to the property multiple times to assess its function and to make necessary changes at no cost (and without my request), spending many days labor to ensure everything was working properly. What impresses me most about Danny and his crew is that they treat this company as if they are all invested. The most important thing to Danny was a successful outcome. It appears that he sees his company as a reflection of himself, and his reputation is very important to him. His crew took ownership as well. This was a very high-end project, but I got the impression that Danny would take on any project with the same professionalism, so I will be using him again as I do have other projects at my home in the future, including drainage around my driveway. read more

Came to repair with Pavers lower 1/3 driveway to curb still floods. Today 6/7/19 repair for flooding and even made this curb and driveway look completely unacceptable. Dan will never answer your call, txt, or email Every excuse under the sun between his landscaping and paving stay away. He sure does. In 11 months met him 1 time and came to see problem 1 time. I didn't forget the stars they didn't even make it to 1 star. Apparently Dan is the owner . They also do driveways replace and repair horrible. Let me save you the headache run now and fast. You will be so thankful later. I used them in 2017 for a driveway I think they are under Bergenfield driveway( I think) it took 1 whole year to have it finished. The Forman Sal all talk no action more excuses then a child who didn't do there homework. Horrible you will be sorry if you use them for landscaping or driveways. I wasn't entirely sure what design would look best with the back of my house so I asked Danny for advice due to his expertise. If I could give negative stars I would. In a sentence - I had to sue them because they refused to work and then refused to return the money he admitted he owed me. I retained them in the spring to redo my entire yard. Danny was a great salesman and brought Mikka (his designer) for multiple meetings. Then they both went MIA for a few months. Finally got a design plan that we learned would never get town approval because they never looked into the set backs and coverage regulations. I had to hand draw the revised plans and demolition started. I had to pay them nearly $30K before they would start. They removed all of the existing stairs so we had no way to safely get outside. They would send one guy who would eat his lunch and work for a little while - then leave. Danny was never present and nothing was accomplished. When is was clear that they were never going to finish the work before winter. On Halloween (6 months later) the town inspector stopped over and told me that Kindergan never got permits for the work and I was threatened with huge fines. Danny was MIA - always with an excuse. Early November - I fired him because the work was not getting done. He sent me an email saying that he owed me about $18K from the money I paid in advance BUT he refused to return the money until I signed a "release" to release/indemnify his company for any "faulty" work they did perform. I refused and eventually had to sue them under the NJ Consumer Fraud Act. After starting the lawsuit they eventually returned every penny of the original retainer (plus). I had my walkway done in 2014 and paid $2400 for it. By 2017 it started spalling. The walkway was falling apart. I contacted Ciccolella Paving. I had the cell for Sal. He said that he would try to patch it. He came in May of 2018. The patching looked awful and the spalling continued in many other areas. I tried reaching Sal, and now he did not answer the calls. Now I try calling the office. I leave messages and no one returns my calls. I did speak with Jennifer and Joe several times, explaining the situation. Finally, I was told that they would come in the fall of 2018 to fill in the spots with a new product. The day came and went. No one ever showed up. They never called to reschedule. I start my calling and message leaving again. I finally get to talk to Jennifer (wife of Danny). She tells me that I am first on the list for March to get the servicing completed. March 2019 comes and goes. No one shows up, no one calls. I continue calling. I speak to Joe the office manager several times who says that he will leave a message for the owner. I finally get a call back in August! Danny leaves a message saying that he wants to talk to find out what is going on. Well, he would know if he had ever read one of my messages or spoken to his employees or wife. I tried calling back, and the phone number was the office number not his cell. I leave message after message. He never once comes to my house to see what is happening. I am sure he had been in the area... I never even get a knock on my door! He finally calls once again in November. The call shows as "No Caller ID" .. I do not pick up the phone of course. He leaves a message. I call back right away .. its the office of course. He is not available and I need to leave a message. He does not call me back for a month. Again, he leaves a message. I try calling back and am told that he is on vacation. Really? Why doesn't he call his customers back right away? Why doesn't he give out his cell number? What the heck? I call the office and am upset about this. it is insane! I have been calling for two years over and over and over and have been given every reason and that now they do not wish to speak to me anymore. I even suggested some products that might fix the problem. They send me a certified letter saying that they have gone "above and beyond" to try to reach me to resolve the issue and that they are "done" dealing with me! I do not know what their idea of that is because I had been calling over and ... probably about 30 times! No one ever called me back and spoke to me! He only attempted to reach me 3 times in all those years! The patience that I had was getting to the end! I am trying to sell my house and can not have it looking like this. It is also dangerous if someone trips! They tried to blame me and made up an excuse that I had put salt on it and that that had caused the problem. Cement should never look like this after a few years. It should hold up for a very long time, unless the workmanship was poor, which is what this story is about! They even tried to tell me that they were Ciccolella Paving but they were not responsible for past work. I now have to get a lawyer involved and plan to sue them. What a waste of so many hours of my time! These people are scammers! How can you claim to own a business and not even acknowledge a past customer in a proper manner???? Talked the talk but couldn't even start the walk. Danny came out to provide a quote for an outdoor fireplace. He was very well versed, seemed to be very knowledgeable and experienced. He unfortunately had a rather unfortunate event occur in his family and stated that a quote would be more than a week as he needed time to catch up with work. This was rather understandable. 1 week has now turned into 5+. I have left 1 voicemail that no one bothered to return. I followed up that un-returned voicemail with 3 additional calls. Those calls were answered by Jen who stated that Danny was aware and that Monday I would have my quote. After my quote still had not arrived I made another follow up call. A different man answered the phone and told me the quote was on the to do list. I then asked an additional question and was told he would call me back with that answer. He took my phone number down and that was the last point of contact I have had. Poor customer service. No return phone calls. If a quote cannot be prepared in a timely manner, I have to wonder, could a job? And if there's problems with the job, could it be handled appropriately and responsibly? read more

What an extremely disappointing interaction. We recently bought a foreclosed home that's been vacant for awhile and desperately needed a landscaping redesign. I contacted them for a consultation via the form on their website. When I didn't hear back after a couple days, I called them and was told someone would get back to me to schedule the consultation. Still didn't hear back so I emailed again. 5 days later I call again and got to speak someone (already a red flag- why do I have to chase you down to hire you?) I go over the scope of work that we're looking for (removal of old/ overgrown scrubs, clean up of front yard, regrading of side yard due to sloping / moisture collection). She was so rude. She was asking me landscaping questions she should be answering for me (you're the expert not me) and without even seeing the property or scheduling the consultation that I was requesting, she just told me that we seem like we're in a rush to get this work done and should just find someone else. We had a backyard re-do project and contacted them. In fact, we had to contact them three time before anyone returned our call. Then one of the landscape designers came out (Michael, very nice) and took some initial pictures and measures. He said he would come back to us within a week. Then 10 days later he called and said he was backlogged so the next week we could expect some first thoughts. Two weeks later he called and said he would have something for us that week. At that point I told him that I was no longer interested as I expect some timeliness and adhering to promises. Life is too short to deal with people like Dan Kindergan. Avoid this company at all costs - You will regret it if you do not. I hired these guys to regrade my backyard and do paver work and sod - a large and expensive project, appx $20k. Before we began I had a clear conversation with Mr. Kindergan and told him that I had one rule - that there will be no upcharging me without preapproval - and he agreed. A few days after starting the upcharging began and it didnt stop until I refused to pay for some things we had never discussed. Some examples amongst about 10 things: - I supplied all of the paver material for the job, and when i asked to move the pavers 6" he added nearly $1000 in labor and materials costs to my bill without mentioning anything to me about it. I flipped - this was less than 3 days after talking to him about no upcharges. - He tried to charge me $500 to lay speaker wire 50yards from one end of my yard to the other in a hole that was already opened in my backyard. I did it myself in about 15 minutes w/o any tools - when i called him on it, he said he was entitled to make a profit. - He agreed to resod my back and side yard, but then ran out of sod on the side so he planted grass seed there instead and tried to convince us that sod wouldnt grow there and that was the reason he didn't fully sod it. The grass seed hasnt grown and the sod is doing fine there now. - He agreed to charge me cost for some river stones, but then threw in a $35 "delivery" charge (20% of the cost of the stones) for his worker to drive the stones about 2 miles to my house in his own truck. Then acted insulted that I wanted to see the bill. He told me he was "offended" after he had upcharged me 4 times already. The final indignity is that I asked for a paid in full receipt from this guy for about 3 months. We agreed to pay a portion of the bill in cash. I chased him for 2 months for this because he refused to give me one. My wife and I called him, emailed him, texted him for 2 months - he kept saying he was busy but would send it.... Finally when my wife called him for about the 10th time, he started screaming at her on the phone - - also intimating that because I paid some cash, i didnt deserve a receipt or something. My wife felt threatened by him and his tone of voice w/ her. I then filed a complaint w/ the Better Business Bureau about not getting a paid in full receipt and the fact that Mr. Kindergan refused to give it to me despite me paying him in full. After that I recieved an extremely threatening and profanity laced voicemail from him about the complaint. I have never dealt with a contractor or service provider like this in my life. PS- he never responded once to the BBB and the complaint stands. Mr. Kindergan does a ton of talking (and threatening) but very little listening and customer service. The sad part is that his team of guys did decent work in my yard for the most part- it's the boss thats the problem.
