Charging different every visit. Last visit didn't help my dog at all but paid $90 for 9 minutes of office visit. Claire did a $650 dental on my Chihuahua after 7 extractions she sent her home without any pain medication, she was suffering. An estimate was given to my Daughter of $750 for a surgery for her dog and without warning she charged her $1500. She is a single parent and this was truly a hardship for her. Dr. Lodhal is a brilliant Vetrianian - she recently completed a procedure on my 8 year old cock-a-poo including a surgical removal of a concerning mass on his leg. She also did an amazing job cleaning his teeth while under anesthesia. She is a Doctor, a Dentist and a Surgeon, all in one remarkable woman! I highly recommend this practice! Our Manx cat was born with born with a front and back paw missing. His back paw had bone protruding and was impossible for him to walk on. Dr "Clair" is the most compassionate vet I've ever worked with. She has taken very good care of our dogs over the last 10 years. She keeps on top of things without running up the cost. Recently our elderly dog, Jessie with near death. Dr. "Clair" knew just what to do and treated her and nursed her back to health. I was very impressed that her staff called us regularily to check on her progress as did Dr, "Clair", even giving us her cell number in case she took a turn for the worse. It's so hard to find a good vet, and I have FINALLY found an AMAZING vet! I took my dog here about 2 months ago as she had what I had self-diagnosed as eosinophilic plaque on the back of her throat. Normally, I don't "self-diagnose" but I had found a youtube video of someone and their dog experience the exact same symptoms and they had shared what the vet had diagnosed their dog with. When I got to Kindness Animal Hospital, I had told the doctor that I'd done a lot of research and had finally figured out what might be going on. I had been prepared to leave my dog there for the day as I had called a different veterinary clinic that had told me that a $300 biopsy was needed and then they could diagnose her from here. Dr. Lodahl looks at me, looks at the back of my dog's throat and says, "How do you feel about treatment for diagnosis?" In other words she was saying, this is most likely the eosinophilic plaque and we can skip the $300 procedure, the stress and pain that might be inflicted on my dog and treat it with a simple prednisone shot. Within two weeks, the plaque was totally gone and we haven't had a problem since. I LOVE that Dr. Lodahl puts your dog first before any sort of crazy expensive procedure. Truly, her first line of concern is the dog's health, happiness, and comfortability. I would recommend anyone looking for a vet to go to Kindness Animal Hospital. read more

We have had animals for some 70 years and have never encountered a vet with such a high regard for animals and a willingness to treat them. We were traveling from Florida when our little 12 year old peekapoo became very sick. We were in Cortez at the time and all clinics there refused to see her on an emergency basis offering appointments as far out as two weeks!! We called Kindness in Durango and was told to bring her right over. She waited an hour for us to get there and took her right in. She did an exam , blood work and xray. All of this was done while missing her lunch. Her diagnosis was spot on with medicine and an injection she is feeling much better this evening. While catering to Sophie she also took in two large dogs on an emergency basis! I can't say enough about her way with the animals. Handles them as if they were her own. My feeling is that she practices veterinarian medicine because she is truly passionate about the well-being of animals, in the same vein, I wouldn't hesitate to say that she is one of the most honest veterinarians I've ever come across. This place was amazing! I have had my dog since he was a puppy. They told me he had pneumonia when he was born so when I got him, he was taking penicillin for his pneumonia. He was constantly throwing up, coughing phlegmy stuff up, diarrhea, etc. we went through 4 rounds of antibiotics and steroids and nothing was working. I had gone to numerous vets spent around $5000 trying to figure out what was wrong by taking X-ray after X-ray and trying all these bizarre techniques and no one could tell me what was wrong with him.... until I moved to Durango and found out about kindness animal hospital. They suggested I do an allergy test.. turns out, he is allergic to 18 out of 30 things we tested for, including the kind of food I was feeding him. He was also allergic to penicillins among a huge list of other things. Suggested I change his food and start him on some benedryl. So I did that. He was still throwing up though. So she suggested I give him some Pepcid AC along with the benedryl. He has been doing great ever since! No more vomiting, no more diarrhea. I have a happy, excited and most importantly a comfortable dog! Thank you so much to everyone at this vets office for helping me and my puppy live a happy healthy life! read more

Previous to her diagnosis, I took her to another local vet and they wanted to charge me almost $800.00 for work they said she needed! I decided to get a second opinion with Kindness Animal Hospital and was surprised when I was told she didn't need any of the work the previous local vet had told me she needed. What could be more fun than traveling 1100 miles from home with 2 large, geriactric dogs (70 & 75 Lbs.) and have to find a veterinarian on a Saturday? Not much tops that, right? Well lucky for me that I found Kindness Animal Hosp. They were understanding and compassionate from the phone call to the final discharge. On Saturday, they squeezed me in and within 2 hours of calling, I was discussing the abscess on the top of my Labrador Retreivers head with Dr Lodahl. A couple of hours later our girl was ready to go with a neat little drain in her scalp. Dr Lodahl and her team took care of the abscess, checked and expressed anal glands and reminded me about an old fractured tooth. Receding gumlines now left the root exposed. We decided to take care of a fractured tooth while we were in town. Tuesday morning she went back in some the dental work. That afternoon she was ready to go. The entire staff was great. Dr Lodahl was patient, listened to my input, gave me options and let me decide what to do and what could wait.Too often doctors have their minds made up within 15 seconds of the patient walking in the door I very much appreciate this kind of medical care, whether for my pets or for myself. I brought both of my dogs here when we first moved to durango 4 years ago. My jack russell i needed to have spayed and my 8 year old pit had some tumors on her feet that i wanted to have removed. Before my pit went into surgery she did some test to see if she would make it during surgery. She called me to inform me that my dog has some type of issue with her liver and that she was dying. I told her that she was ok this morning when i dropped her off. and then she told me that she could do more tests. To make a long story short I ended up paying more then 1200.00 and only 225 was to have my jack spayed. Never again. read more
