We moved to New Mexico from Lexington, KY in 2011 and were spoiled to our vets back in Kentucky…read moreuntil now! We utilized two different places in Farmington, NM that were good but simply not great as we had come to expect over the years for our doggies. During a weekend visit to one of the clinics in Farmington, we met an amazing lady vet who was wonderful. She encouraged us to check out a groomer in Durango she highly recommended (Puppy Love) and she had high praise for Bayfield Animal Hospital. We took our three dogs to Puppy Love and were immediately hooked, since it reminded us so much of the great grooming we had come to expect at Sheabel's in Lexington. We decided to drive over to Bayfield when leaving the groomer one day and check out Bayfield Animal Hospital ourselves. Wow, it is such a beautiful little community and possessed such a warm and inviting feeling, so we took our dogs in for an initial visit and the rest is history. We have dealt with several wonderful vets before in Kentucky (even a dog allergy specialist in Louisville), but we have NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY and impressed as we were by the spirit, compassion, care, and overall genuine positive feelings we experienced with Dr. Karen Nollett, or simply Dr. Karen, as we reference her. She is a MIRACLE sent from heaven for a pet owner, but we must say from the ladies at the front desk to all the other vets and techs in the back just are SUPER SPECTACULAR at Bayfield. The clinic really has such a "true family" atmosphere and it shows every time a client (human and animal) walks through the door and receives a warm welcome and smile. If you ever have a feeling where you just want to find somewhere that makes you excited for taking your pet, then please, please, please do yourself and your pet a HUGE favor by giving this place an opportunity to serve you. They are hands down the absolute best thing that could have ever happened for Abby, Izzy, and Daphne (our babies). We gladly drive the almost 100 miles for our dogs to receive the BEST TREATMENT available in the Four Corners area, and we cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the people at Bayfield Animal Hospital truly are at caring for animals. May God bless each and every one of the fantastic staff at BAH as they bring such joy to the pets they serve! Sincerley, LaRoy & Allen

"Dr. Polly" is the kindest, most professional veterinarian we have ever had the pleasure to know…read more We have used her services for over five years for everything from ear infections to euthanasia. We are thankful to be on her "client list", as she is the busiest vet in town - for good reason. Because she gives so much care to the animals at the Humane Association and to each of her clients, it is challenging to get a fast appointment. However, when she is treating your fur baby, you receive such a high level of attention that it's easy to think your pet is the only one she has ever cared for. She gets down on her knees with the animals and reassures them (and you). Her prices are beyond reasonable compared to any other vet in Pagosa Springs...and we have used many of them. She and her hubby recently came to our home to help end our 14-year-old's suffering from Lymphoma. I had cancelled three times on her because I just couldn't do it. She liked the fact I was ambivalent about the procedure. When the time came, Dr. Polly had as many tears in her eyes as we did. True compassion. It was an awful, dreaded event that she made into an almost beautiful one. If you need immediate lab work, it's probably best to go to a brick-and-mortar vet. Otherwise, I trust her implicitly. She is knowledgeable and one of the most lovely people I have ever met.

Our dog was lethargic and vomiting. Our guess was tapeworm. Called before their 10am office hours…read moreand left message They did return call promptly after they opened. They stated vet had a busy day, but might be able to make a med drop. I asked that they let me know as soon as possible, so I could make other arrangements. Explained we are traveling, and would either need to backtrack over an hour to visit a vet, or continue our path two hours away from vet. I called them back 4.5 hours later, they stated they had to take care of their clients first(I totally understand this) and that they probably would not be able to see us. My problem is, if I had been told this from the beginning, we could have made other arrangements. By this point it was to late to do anything but depend on Dr. Google(not a good option). Fortunately after a visit to a local pet store, the meds suggested by Google search luckily did the trick.
