Katie was a rescue at about 2 years old diagnosed with a malignant form of cancer and heartworm. Cancer free to this day, she just turned 12 ( our little princess). Buddy Jr. also a rescue at about 2 years old, was diagnosed at 3 with idiopathic seizures, he's 8 now and thriving (quite the brat). I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Kindness Animal Hospital. We've been taking our dogs there for nearly 12 years. Recently, our younger dog was not himself and we were extremely worried. We got in same-day due to a cancellation and were able to avoid the emergency vet. Dr. Resch, the vet tech and the entire staff were so lovely and reassuring. They checked in by phone and text with results and to see how our pup is doing. Kindness Animal Hospital truly lived up to their name today. This was our first experience there with our adult daughter's cat who has had advanced kidney disease. By Apollo's symptoms it was clear that he was in extreme distress since yesterday. Our daughter was out of the country and we were in charge of Apollo. Kindness worked us in to their busy Monday morning schedule today! David, the Tech, and Dr. Z were both so kind and explained the euthanasia process so that we knew what to expect. Some of the vets there are nice, but the head vet has given very bad vibes off to my animals and come at me with anger when my pets didn't like them. In fact, one of my pets just died less than 2 months after visiting this vet. At the time, I couldn't be in the room with my animals for their check up because I had COVID. When they brought me my cats, the vet yelled at me because one of them was spicy with her and she said the other one peed everywhere (which it had NEVER done before). Less than 3 weeks later, I was rushing my pet to the ER because it wasn't eating. And less than a month later I was doing it again because of hepatic lipidosis. All indications are that the vet did something accidental or accidentally on purpose to my pet and now my pet is dead. Do not bring your animals to this woman (blonde)!!!!!!! I trust my pets' instincts and they never liked her. I truly believe she killed my sweet orange tabby that I had to put down on Thanksgiving. One of the worst days of my life. read more

My senior cat started losing weight very quickly. He stopped eating and one morning I noticed he couldn't jump in the bed with us. I knew it was time to make a very tough decision and unfortunately it was a Saturday. I could see he wasn't well snd I didn't want him to suffer for an additional two days just to wait until Monday. Kindness animal hospital was booked, but they fit me in right away anyway. The woman on the on the phone was very compassionate. Once we arrived, the vet tech was lovely. She took Fatty in to see Dr. Nuenzig, who called to confirm my suspicions that it would be a kindness to say goodbye now as he would have needed a feeding tube and other heroic efforts that are not easy for the kitty to deal with. Thank you so much for helping my lovely boy. He was a very loving kitty who had a good, long life, and you guys eased the end of it for us. read more

This vet has let me down time and time again. Last year my mom brought our cat Minnie to the vet various times to treat a bloody wound on her foot that was determined to be a "hot spot". No treatment was offered other than an E collar. 6 months later she died from an aggressive form of cancer AFTER us demanding a higher level of care. The appropriate preventive measures were not taken and the hot spot developed into a cancer because of their lack of interest in our cat's health. This week, our 17 year old cat has a badly infected eye. Not something I would stress about except the eyes TEND TO BE AN ESSENTIAL ORGAN and he's a senior cat. After three attempts to get an appointment, no advances have been made and my cat's eye is getting worse. That's so kind of them. The pricing here is outrageous in comparison to most vets. $750 bill for a yearly check up with vax for a ten year old dog. 750! $750! $750! Insane. As if the outrageous prices weren't enough, they even tried pushing for our dog to get his teeth cleaned under anesthesia for another exorbitant cost... which they didn't realize they had already done less than a year ago! When I pointed it out that they had done this procedure less than a year ago, the vets response was "oh well it isn't that bad and we will just keep an eye on it for next year." The cost for everything there has always been expensive through the years, but we at least felt we were getting competent care for our pet. My faith and confidence in them is now lost and I feel as though they are sadly just a big money grab. I believe they do love animals, especially the support staff, but my trust in their care is completely gone. Save your money and find a more competent veterinary staff. read more

They're very Pricey ... They take advantage. Called to make an appointment the other day. My dog is sick. Girl took all my info. Said she was new someone would get back to me. No.one ever did get back to me. Never was overly pleased there. Not the first time there have been communication issues there. Tends to always be something quirky there. Alot of times they tell you to just keep calling back everyday right at 8:00 am. Like what is that. Appointments seem to be a challenge there. I went somewhere else. read more

Staff has always been friendly and treated our pups well. Most recent visit was an annual checkup with 2 vaccines and a test for heart worms and several other parasites/diseases, total cost $300. I don't know how that compares to other vets in the DC area, but they are 5 minutes away from us and we like them so we have no desire to switch just to save a few bucks. read more

It's almost impossible to get anyone on the phone. It either rings forever -- with no voicemail -- or when the front desk picks up they put you on hold for a long time -- more than 10 minutes. I've seen this when I'm actually there, too -- they clearly don't care about their customers. There have been multiple times when there are two people at the front desk yet only one person is on the phone. How is that efficient? The front desk staff is disorganized in other ways. The guy there can never remember whether or not I was given the meds or if I'd been seen or whatnot. I realize you're busy, but that's basic customer service. Also, their instructions for administering meds is confusing and they don't write it on the bottle. When I finally do get an appointment, they're always behind. I also feel like they try to upsell you stuff you don't need. I went in recently because my dog had an infection so they gave her antibiotics. Perfectly reasonable. But a few weeks later when we went in for the follow up, it hadn't fully healed. So they gave us more antibiotics PLUS another pill since the doctor thought she maybe had an allergy, which was why she kept scratching. To what, I asked? Pollen, dust, random plants, who knows, was the doctor's response. So you're giving the dog a PILL? She's a dog. The allergy meds were twice the price of the antibiotics. Dr. Keller (a different doctor than the one who tried to sell my dog allergy meds) is very compassionate and has great bedside manner. That's the good thing about this place. However, she noticed my dog had a slight heart murmur and her first suggestion was to see a dog cardiologist, AFTER we told her we don't have pet insurance. Um, no! How about you fix her there. That's what I'm paying YOU for. When I pressed, she said changing her diet would help. Ok, how hard was that. I'm not going back for another follow up. They are so disorganized and overpriced. read more

I love how great they take care of my dogs. Dr. Phillips has been our main doctor and she is amazing. She has been caring, always making the time to answer all of my questions and giving suggestions that best fit each of my dogs. I feel my dogs are well taken care of here, and whenever the doctor has felt an specialist is needed she took the time to give me a list of possible doctors to take my dog. The care my dog receives is good. But everything else about the experience is frustrating. I've made 3 appointments to drop off my dog. When you arrive, you call and let them know you're outside. They say they'll come get him, and half an hour later you're still waiting. My average wait has been 40 minutes. Same when they call you to come pick him up. I understand there may be a back log to see the doctor, but that doesn't mean they can't get him promptly and keep him there until the doctor is ready, freeing up your time. They like the animals, but there's an an atmosphere of contempt for the humans. read more

We brought in Tazz and Bismarck for their annual check up and vaccine updates. Generally things run well here but despite sending 4 to 5 "reminder messages" they don't tell you if you need a stool or urine specimen before the appointment. They tell you onsite and then expect you to come back later to bring in the specimen. That is a waste of everyone's time, especially since the auto message could have a line added about ask if you need to bring a specimen. They also ask too many repetitive questions about things that are already in the records, like what kind of medication your pet is taking. That is annoying because they are the ones who prescribed it. But overall the staff is nice but I think it's time to get over wearing masks -- my orthopedist doesn't require masks in the office any longer so why should the vet? read more

Everyone - vets, techs, office staff - are highly knowledgeable, kind, caring, responsive, and clearly love animals. While I have not physically had my puppy seen here yet, this review is based on a call inquiring about their services. I spoke with Brandon who was very personable, informative, and professional. He answered all of my questions about their scheduling process and purchasing food for my new puppy. My sincerest thanks to him for being polite and answering some of my (pretty obvious) questions and genuinely making me feel welcome as a customer. This hospital has been very helpful any time my Shih Tzu has any problems, which are many. They offer same-day sick appointments even if they're all booked, and are pretty quick! As for the vet that treated my shih tzu, I can't say the same. My dog came to Dr. Zolkiewicz for an ultrasound for stomach problems. I also mentioned there was a bump to the side of his stomach I was concerned about. In response without even fully checking his body, he told me it was his belly button, when it was actually a swollen lymph node alluding to a more serious illness. I only found this out after visiting a different vet. What kind of vet doesn't check something as simple as a lymph node? In addition, Dr. Z described a heart murmur in the notes for my dog but NEVER mentioned it to me. I only found out after my dog was admitted to the ER. I asked for clarification but he didn't follow up with me for several days - to the point where I had to call over and over to eventually speak to a different vet anyways. Dr. Z also provided inconclusive results for the ultrasound, which is understandable but I requested he send images to the specialist I was planning to see and he only sent a written report so I needed to order an ADDITIONAL ultrasound with another specialist at another hospital. It was a waste of my time and money since I've now spent thousands more to redo the procedures he failed to do, and at the sake of my dog's health. read more

Not happy at all with my experience, thought it was very, very expensive and did not get good care. Took my elderly (17 year old) dog to see about end of life plan. She was choking so bad, she would black out, she was having, what I think were strokes and falling down. Was talked into all kinds of care and blood test, that was an outrageous cost, then told she was very healthy. We had to put her down a week later. Thanks for the very bad service. read more

We were so hesitant to try this place after seeing only 3 stars on yelp, but we were desperate for a change after our old vet (Marymont), and this one was so close. Well, 6+ months later and I can tell you that I honestly have no idea why people have given such low ratings -- we love this vet clinic! We've seen every vet in there, and everyone has been so nice and so knowledgable. The vet techs are great too, and even the receptionists are wonderful -- helpful and nice. Everyone there loves animals, and you can tell by the way they treat your pets when you bring them in. I've seen lots of people with dogs, cats, and even a guinea pig, and all the pet owners have told us how much they love it there. Most of the people we've spoken to in the waiting room have been going there for years. The wait time to see the vet is probably 5-10 minutes, max. It takes longer to pay afterwards because of their computer system or something, but they have candy by the exit which makes the waiting not so bad. (But we're still talking 5-10 minutes, max.) We also get our dogs' nails trimmed there. It's reasonably priced, and they do a great job. The only downside is that you need an appointment to get them cut, so you can't just stop by and get it done on a whim. Not a big deal, though. Finally, we just got our puppy spayed here a couple of weeks ago, and they did a great job on the surgery. The scar is barely visible, she's healed perfectly, and somehow she still isn't even scared to go to the vet. It's her favorite place to go because she knows she gets pets and kisses and treats! :) read more

Marc Katz was found in Violation of the Veterinary Practice Act by the Maryland State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners in a case involving my cat, Toonces. THIS IS A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD, Maryland Docket 05-005 - you can view public information about the case, including the legal consent order online here: http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/7756/MD/US/ He was fined, placed on probation, and had his license suspended (although the suspension was "stayed"). Dr. Katz left my cat in the care of his son -- instead of a licensed veterinary technician. His son used the wrong syringe to give my cat his insulin (according to their own admissions) and subsequently my cat was found hypoglycemic and having massive seizures -- classic symptoms of an insulin overdose! Dr. Katz never even called me to tell me what was going on -- instead, he dropped my cat Toonces off at another hospital and left a note saying if my he died overnight he would send a staff member to pick up his dead body the next day! In my opinion, Marc Katz is the biggest nightmare of a veterinarian anywhere around here, and I rue the day I walked into Kindness Animal Hospital and made the mistake of trusting him. My cat was dramatically brain damaged when he left there, and never EVER recovered -- his injuries cost me thousands of dollars, but more importantly heartbreak and pain having to watch my poor Toonces live with this severe brain damage. If you love your pets, I beg you not to entrust their cat to this man! I made that mistake and it was the biggest mistake of my life! read more

I have had so many bad experiences with vets. By the time by dog was 2, we had already been to 4 different vets because we could not find a good one. It was so frustrating! I am so glad we started seeing Dr. Tanouye at Kindness Animal Hospital. My search for a good vet is finally over! Even though I don't live in the area anymore, I am still willing to travel the distance so that my dog can keep seeing Dr. Tanouye. My dog is nervous and difficult at the vet. I appreciate that Dr. Tanouye and the vet techs (especially Chris) are so patient and gentle with my dog. Unlike many vets, Dr. Tanouye has a thorough understanding of good animal nutrition. She also takes a conservative approach to vaccinations and will not give your dog everything under the sun. For example, we discussed the risks, benefits, & effectiveness of the lyme vaccine and decided that it was not necessary for my dog. The only thing I don't like about Kindness Animal Hospital is that it is very expensive, probably the most expensive vet I have ever been to. But it is a price I am willing to pay so that I can see a vet that I trust. read more
