We got involved after the hospital found Crystal Heights would offer Mom a place to stay while she found a long term place. Mom was going through withdrawal from her situation at her home, leaving her home and knowing that most of her family had abandoned her. They liked the money she brought in, and didn't want a nursing home involved. Crystal Heights was great about following protocol about situations like this andkept her abuser away from Mom. She was feed 3 good meals a day, her care givers were understanding and helpful and caring towards her. She enjoyed making new friends. but she was a LONG way from her Grandchildren and they were the joy of her life. It was hard for her to stay that far away from them and everything else going on in her situation. Her daughter promised she could live with her and that made her happy. They came to pick her up from Crystal Heights then brought her right back to her abuser. This is so hard for her but she promised me she would not give up and she said that everyday at Crystal Heights, at least one of the staff would remind her not to give up and that today IS a good day and she started believing that. She really liked being there when it comes to the care, encouragement, feeding her and even PT all was just what she needed and it helped give her strength.

The staff at Northern Mahasaka has been incredible. During our initial visit, it was obvious the director, Linda Lee, is running a smooth operation. Her staff has longevity, which is unusual in the nursing home environment. She has employees who have been there for 15 plus years. That in itself, speaks volumes. There is absolutely no odor in this facility and it is amazingly clean. The lighting is conductive to a wakeful and alert enviroment. When speaking with residents, it it obvious they are engaged and not left to sit in their chairs without interaction. We have experienced many ups and downs with the health of our family member and the staff here has been attentive and certain to keep us in the loop. I highly recommend Northern Mahasaka. It is as good as it gets!!

Don't put any family in here. They have 2 nurses, Charlene and Shannon, who don't care about the…read morepatients under their care. Our family member isn't mobile and if they can't fend for themselves they are treated worse than ones who can get around themselves and ones who speak. The family members roommate even said she was going to give these guys a bad review and recommend no one send anyone here based on how she has seen them act with our family member.
