The website appears to be takeout only but we called and learned the offer dine-in seating. Our server was very friendly and the food was amazing! We started with lettuce chicken wraps as an appetizer and followed up with yellow curry and Thai spicy beef. This restaurant is cozy, and has a fun and friendly vibe. But from the description of the sesame chicken on favor it seems this is correct. In what world is this sesame chicken?? Also, there was no chicken in my order. I wasn't a big fan of this Thai place. I ordered veggie green curry. The curry was so watered down and just didn't have much flavor. Not sure if I ordered the wrong item. The service is nice and food comes out quick. I just didn't think it was that great. A friend had their pad Thai and said it was pretty good. read more

I had to give it a star to rate it. The WORST place I've ordered from in midland BY FAR. Photograph attached is of how my dinner was delivered. We ordered chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp soft rolls, chicken panang curry, and a 16 ounce side of red chilly sauce which they charge extra for mind you. And I got a garbage bag of crap delivered. Nothing was salvageable and I didn't dare try it just in case it was tampered with. The lettuce wraps only had ONE LEAF OF LETTUCE in its own little white styrofoam container. ONE. The soft summer rolls was lettuce and two shrimp shoved in some rice paper. Their menu online states it's a roll filled with rice noodles, shrimp, pork, lettuce, carrot, and cucumber. LIES. And the 16 ounce red chili sauce was two half filled jello shot containers you see at the bottom of that nasty bag. I'm highly upset at the restaurants lack of proper care and packaging and at the delivery drivers complete lack of proper handling of food orders. read more

I'm not sure what has happened over the last 6 months with this place. Other than it seems like they much have changed out the cooks. The food used to be great and flavorful, now it's just kind of mushy and flat. We used to eat here and take out all the time, but unfortunately the last 3 times I've ordered from here the food hurt my stomach and just tasted sub par. One of two Thai restaurants in Midland, Texas. Maybe I'm a little harsh with the rating, but I can not get around how people think "Phad Thai" from here is even Phad Thai... This place very small and tidy. I ordered Togo and maybe I ordered the wrong thing, and could have rated this place a little bit higher? But the Phad Thai (one of the most known Thai food) absolutely had no flavor. I was craving that tamarind sweet sauce they use for the dish, but instead I had to add soy sauce and sirarcha. The chicken was also on the dried side. A dish of Phad Thai was about $10. Pretty disappointing! read more

Green pork curry was just a corn syrup delivery method with a few bits of pork. Hot and sour soup, something that should always be savory, was sickeningly sweet as well. We are trying to support small business during this difficult time for our city. Sadly we got burned today. Not only did the tomatoes and shrimp taste bad and old, we did not receive the peanut sauce for our spring rolls, my husband's curry only had 2 tiny pieces of chicken and the egg drop soup had a red color to it and smoky smell. My husband and I have tried this place out several times. The food is good but the service is horrible. They just seem inconvenienced every time. So we decided to try it out once again after 1 year and I am not surprised with the bad service we received. So my husband calls to order and the lady said they were only accepting cash and no cards. All we had was our credit card and that was that. She didn't even try to work with us or anything and didn't even bother to apologize. Based off of another review I guess they don't accept cards on Saturdays. Sorry for the inconvenience , we will be taking our business somewhere else where we are appreciated. I am so confused by the reviews on here... First, there are two Thai places in Midland. The other is called Thai house off of Wall St. Also, why is someone comparing this Thai restaurant to NYC Chinatown?? Since I'm on a project in Midland for about 6 months, I was trying to eat at all the restaurants here. And then I gave up... or I succeeded... I'm actually not sure which. But we come to King and I at least every week and all of my coworkers swear by it. I'm pretty sure they could (and probably) have eaten here every day. I think the food is pretty good and the prices aren't bad. My favorites are the lunch curry specials for ~$7, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. How does it stack up against Thai house? Food: About the same, I personally think that thai house has bigger portions Seating: Much smaller and if you come at noon on a weekday, you'll be waiting for a while. But 12:30, you're good to go. New favorite place! This marathon running chef, Popcorn has a fit menu of veggies, rice and meats with massive Thai Flare. Yes it is crammed in here but well worth it! Lunch menu is diverse. My sidekick had the king and I noodles, and for once, this has never happened, I wished I would have chosen that over the Yellow Curry. Full of veggies, huge bowl of rice noodles and chicken. Mine was more carbs and curry. Good but a little watery. Both dishes needed heat. But being in the land of gringos, we had to ask and got the carrier of 4 spice rack with the plastic spoons that is dropped on everyones table. So I licked all the spoons and put them back in for the next person. JUST KIDDING! Place just had a turn over of ppl and all the tables were dirty. We did not care. We plopped down and quickly were taken care of with a wipe wipe and a drink order. Side note....The side you park on, yeah you have to walk around the bldg. No idea why. But you look like a $#%^ trying to open the door, bc the sign says open other door. It should say "walk around the bldg." They are now open on Saturday, "if Popcorn is not running" HAHA! After 5 days of West Texas dining, what a joy to find a decent Thai fix.... it really helps reset the palate after texmex and steaks..... If you know how to order proper Thai cuisine, then you will do fine... there definately some oddities, but the saim pad thai, panag curry, and thom ka kai were excellent and quite authentic..... great selections of chilies This place was PACKED for monday lunch and did an insane amount of carryout.... so the locals must be on to it.... It was a great oasis for a traveler looking for some diversity of cuisine. read more

The guy that owns the place is an active local so you'll see him around town, at races, biking, etc. The place is small but decorated with tons of the owners race bibs/medals/etc. As a fellow runner, its pretty cool! I got the marathon bowl, it was light, fresh, non-greasy, and filling! It has tofu, chicken, and shrimp, a brothy sauce, and brown rice. It was satisfying, tasty, and filling. My mother got a green curry and thought it could use a little more spice but enjoyed it. Father had the yellow curry, also gave thumbs up. For Midland TX, you can't get better than this! read more

Darn good Thai food given it's Midland zip code. Can you find better Thai food in Dallas or Houston? Probably. However, I find The King and I to be on par with most of the locally owned Thai restaurants I have tried in the Dallas area. It definitely hits the spot when I am craving that authentic Thai flavor. It definitely competes with ChuChai or Thai Pepper in Lubbock. We love the food here. It's always hot and fresh. The service is hit and miss. We usually come for lunch and the wait staff is good. Tonight we came for dinner. The waitress was not attentive at all. She brought the appetizer then slightly later came to bring the food. She totally ignored taking the plate away. She said she would be right back with the rice. She took food to two different tables before we had to stop her to ask again to bring the rice. She asked to refill our glasses once and never checked on us after the food was delivered. By far the best Asian food in West Texas! While some people complain about prices, I don't have that issue. Nobody is cheap anymore. Also, I worked in restaurants for years and definitely appreciate someone needing to make it worth their while. Atmosphere is a little lacking, but most places focus on one thing.
