Very close to home, always clean and great popcorn. We go as much as we can to support our local theatre.

The Furious movie was kung fu action packed from start to finish. A must see for martial arts fans.read more

I am all for supporting local businesses, so we chose Maya Cinemas in Salinas for a new movie and…read morewere disappointed from start to finish. First, the phone app disappeared. The kiosk to print online tickets was broken, which meant everyone had to wait in line at the concession stand just to get tickets. Then, since we had not visited in a while, we were not familiar with the layout anymore. Our movie was in Theater 1, but the numbering/signage was unclear. We saw Theater 2, but there was no visible number for Theater 1 nearby, leaving us second guessing whether we were in the right place. Once inside, the theater itself felt very worn down. The seats were so worn they looked dirty, and there were no food trays. I did like how far back the recliners went, but the farther you reclined, the more a barrier in front blocked the bottom portion of the screen. We also paid for the Dolby sound experience because my husband appreciates good audio quality, and he immediately noticed that not all of the surround speakers were being used, particularly the rear speakers. That noticeably took away from the movie experience. Overall, this theater feels neglected and run down. It is disappointing to see what was once a thriving theater decline so much. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

When on vacation last month with family, we chose Paso Robles as the meet-halfway destination. We…read morewere coming in from points north and south, and Paso is a wonderful place to meet. We scored a charming AirBnB villa, and sampled various venues around the area for wine, beer, and olive oil tasting. On our last evening, we decided to head into town and seek a nice dining spot. Though it was a Tuesday, our first choice restaurant had a waiting list. That gave us time to stroll around the downtown plaza area. Many of the shops had just closed - this is not a nightlife kind of place as far as shopping goes, but the foodie places were just getting started. Our Sweet Granddaughter had a great time hanging out with her older cousins, and they took her farther around the park area than Dear Hubby and I had the energy to go on a hot night. The plaza has a small town vibe with lots of charm. Someone suggested a Hallmark movie kind of vibe. I agree with that assessment. Bring in some set decorators with some additional floral decor, and you'd be ready to be in the movie mode. We ended up at a different restaurant than we had originally planned for, and that was a good choice. Because of the wait we'd encountered it gave us more time to enjoy the unique architecture and vintage charm of the downtown Paso vibe.

I have seen this theatre progress every time I come here. Recently caught an evening screening of The Super Mario Brothers Galaxy. Surprisingly enough, for being a movie theatre in downtown Santa Cruz, the drive and parking situation is very easy. The theatre itself is spacious and clean. It's my first time back since they remodeled, the movie screen and sound system was great quality, the seating lounge/recliners were very comfortable. Every employee I encountered was very helpful and friendly. While I was in the auditorium waiting for the movie to start I pre-ordered my ticket for Mortal Kombat 2 (my most anticipated movie of the year, along with: Street Fighter Masters of the Universe and Avengers: Doomsday) NO SPOILERS: but Super Mario Brothers Galaxy was a great movie. Can't wait to go back next week to watch Mortal Kombat 2 and get one of the exclusive popcorn buckets. Thank you for the hospitality!

I miss the old recliner seats. I am not a movie theater person as I can't stand people making noises during a movie. The last couple of times I have gone there have been teenagers being disruptive during the movie. For accessibility they do have an elevator which is good since the movie theater is on the second floor of a building. Their movie perks program seems like a really good deal! If you are someone that goes to the movies just once a month, you would 100% benefit from signing up for the program.
