Very close to home, always clean and great popcorn. We go as much as we can to support our local theatre.

The kiosk to print online tickets was broken, which meant everyone had to wait in line at the concession stand just to get tickets. Then, since we had not visited in a while, we were not familiar with the layout anymore. Our movie was in Theater 1, but the numbering/signage was unclear. We saw Theater 2, but there was no visible number for Theater 1 nearby, leaving us second guessing whether we were in the right place. Once inside, the theater itself felt very worn down. The seats were so worn they looked dirty, and there were no food trays. I did like how far back the recliners went, but the farther you reclined, the more a barrier in front blocked the bottom portion of the screen. We also paid for the Dolby sound experience because my husband appreciates good audio quality, and he immediately noticed that not all of the surround speakers were being used, particularly the rear speakers. That noticeably took away from the movie experience. Overall, this theater feels neglected and run down. It is disappointing to see what was once a thriving theater decline so much. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

4 solid star…read more Cinemark Monterey 13 is a good option for a theater experience. Located right in Del Monte Center, parking is easy, and it's surrounded by plenty of spots to grab a bite before or after the film. Inside, the theater is consistently clean, and the auditoriums feature big, comfortable seats with crisp projection and great sound quality. The staff is nice. Solid place overall.

One of them said do you want anything extra and he said no just add some butter but they did not add butter. Then another guy came over and looked at my husband, like it was a pain that he wanted a bag. Someone behind my husband said ooh. I want to get a bag of popcorn, and the second guy said to the customer behind my husband, I'm sorry these bags are only that to go bags. My husband felt like he was bothering the workers and left without getting the butter on my popcorn, which I was extremely upset about. I didn't learn that. There was no extra butter in the popcorn until my husband brought it to me. I said believe me, if it had been me, I wouldn't be writing this yelp review because I would've told the guys that I wasn't leaving until I got butter on the popcorn. So the movies may be great at the theater, but be warned about lackadaisical service.

We scored a charming AirBnB villa, and sampled various venues around the area for wine, beer, and olive oil tasting. On our last evening, we decided to head into town and seek a nice dining spot. Though it was a Tuesday, our first choice restaurant had a waiting list. That gave us time to stroll around the downtown plaza area. Many of the shops had just closed - this is not a nightlife kind of place as far as shopping goes, but the foodie places were just getting started. Our Sweet Granddaughter had a great time hanging out with her older cousins, and they took her farther around the park area than Dear Hubby and I had the energy to go on a hot night. The plaza has a small town vibe with lots of charm. Someone suggested a Hallmark movie kind of vibe. I agree with that assessment. Bring in some set decorators with some additional floral decor, and you'd be ready to be in the movie mode. We ended up at a different restaurant than we had originally planned for, and that was a good choice. Because of the wait we'd encountered it gave us more time to enjoy the unique architecture and vintage charm of the downtown Paso vibe.

August 28th! Happy National Power Rangers Day!…read more Santa Cruz Cinema plays a lot of movies other theaters won't and that's a good thing. I like how they tend to play more limited run movies. I came here today and watched The Legend of the White Dragon. Growing up in the 90's power rangers was my childhood and I'm glad Jason David Frank's legacy lives on and this movie got to see the light of day after being shelved for years. Thank you Santa Cruz cinema, you're the ONLY theater in Santa Cruz county that decided to show it even if you knew tickets sales were going to be low, and for that you will continue to get my business.

It smelled like burnt popcorn the whole film. I had half of my dinner put away in a bag, my dinner which I ate before the film because I knew there was a no outside food policy. I am a student that had work before the movie so I had no time to drop my leftovers off at home. I also commute so I have no car to store it in. I was given the option to throw away the food or I couldn't go in. The lack of empathy was disappointing, I understand the purpose of the rule but I was not planning to eat the food nor was it out in the open. As a student I was trying to save money and save the food for another meal, but I was forced to toss a perfectly good meal because of this theaters lack of understanding.
