    Sunrise on the water taxi.

Continues to be the best commute in the City. Just don't take the first floor, first row port seat - it's mine.

We followed the signs over the overpass through the ferry station up an elevator to the water taxi terminal. We found the ticket machine & spent $11.25 each for round trip tickets to West Seattle Alki Beach. We took one of the few seats. Security reprimanded those not wearing masks. There was a water taxi schedule on the internet. There was a board at the terminal indicating where to cue up & the time out water take departs. Our taxi ride was :15. It was cool @ breezy with indoor & outside seating. The views were beautiful.

This review is coming from a tourist. You know, one of those idiots that immediately stops vs stepping off to the side because they are clueless of where they are at and you're just trying to do your day-to-day. But man! I LOVE your water taxi. Or more specifically, the taxi from DT to Seacrest park. I saw some mom complain on Yelp that this isn't what they expected for her kids. Really? Shut up. What part of the word "taxi" is foreign to you? Good God. And she actually writes a lot of reviews. To me, this was perfect. How perfect? Well: - It got me from A to B, the way it's supposed to. - I was able to get on the water. I saw Seattle in a way that many do not and it is wonderful. - This thing was on time. I mean clock work perfect. If you don't drive, or don't want to drive DT, this is the way to go. Now if the 755 could also figure out that clock work thing....

Skip the ferris wheel or any other site seeing attraction for this one! We took a ride over to West Seattle. Best view you will find of the city. Everything in one shot:space needle, high rises, stadium, and Mt Rainier. It was maybe a 15 minute ride and only around 12ish bucks for 2 adults. Don't miss out on this one!

I don't know how long this service have been around but I am glad to finally discover it! The 411: -Located on Pier 50. -A ticket cost $4 one-way and kids under 5 is free if you're heading to West Seattle. -The ride takes about 10-15 minutes and the taxi runs til 7. -There's also another taxi that goes to Vashon Island for a dollar more. Tips: 1). If you get motion sickness, be prepared. Since the ferry is smaller, you can feel the rockiness of the boat a tad bit more. 2). If you are a hat-wearer, hang on to it if you're going to be out on the deck. There was a "hat overboard" incidence on my ride back to Seattle. 3). And unfortunately, I don't think the taxi allows pets on board. A group of people were turned down because they had two dogs with them and had already paid for the ticket too. Overall, the experience was lovely. Plenty of seats. Great view. And the folks were nice. I went on this little adventure with my little brother and barely made it on-time for the taxi but, they waited for us to pay for the ticket and make our way over. Thank guys!

i love the water taxi and yearn to take it more but i'd have to drive to seacrest and park to board which defeats the purpose of minimizing single driver cars on the roads. if i gave friends in town or have extra time in the summer, there's almost nothing better than a quick jaunt across the water on the water taxi. it's fast, efficient, clean and reliable. sure, there's the occasional mishap or breakdown that throws it off schedule but in general it's a great way to get between the downtown waterfront and west seattle. i walk by it everyday on the west seattle side, watching people who clearly use it as their primary means of commuting to and from work. in a way i'm envious because it's gotta be a nice way to start your day or shake off whatever work threw your way before heading home. i'm so glad it's a transportation option.

At the moment they are not taking fares because of COVID-19. They also have very few trips per day over to West Seattle. The boats are accommodating for bikes and the ride is only about 10 min. It's always a little cooler on the water so have a jacket if you would like to sit or stand out on the deck during the ride. I hope they add more boats when and if ppl go back to work.

Love the West Seattle route of the King County Water Taxi in the summer! The new boats have doubled the passenger capacity for each run, and cut a few minutes off the crossing time as well. The free shuttles on the West Seattle side are a bonus as well. The one to the California Junction runs directly there, but be warned, the Alki shuttle runs up through the Admiral Junction first before going around to the Alki stops. Getting off at Alki Beach takes a bit of time due to that. I'd give it 5 stars if they had an earlier and more frequent morning run schedule to better align with commuting hours AND a free shuttle on the downtown side dropping off at somewhere like Westlake Center. Going up 6+ blocks of hills in the hot summer days for many downtown workers to start a day, can be a sweaty mess in business clothes lol. Tip: they run the West Seattle route after many sporting downtown sporting events, but not the free West Seattle shuttles, so plan for that to get where you want after. You also can often see some of the resident seals or sea lions sunning themselves on the barge buoys located towards Harbor Island if you look close at those.

If you are a tourist in Seattle, this is a great way to visit West Seattle. They even have a FREE SHUTTLE to take you to Alki Beach or "the Junction" in West Seattle. Bicycles are welcome at no additional charge. Upon leaving downtown you will have fantastic photo opportunities of Smith Tower, Seattle Great Wheel, and other skyscrapers. On a clear day, you will also have views of the Space Needle and the Cascade Range. The King County Water Taxi has capacity for 147 passengers and a crew of three, along with a bike rack that holds 16 bicycles. There are three restrooms onboard, one inside and two on the exterior deck. The King County Water Taxi has four 740-horsepower propulsion engines that can maintain a cruising speed of 24 knots, allowing the vessel to cross between downtown Seattle and West Seattle in 10 minutes. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, with the top deck especially popular during Seattle's famously perfect summer days. You may also take the free shuttle Route 775, serving the Admiral District and Alki Avenue SW, to Alki Beach. With it's laid-back, carefree attitude, Alki Beach feels more like southern California than Seattle. Also along Route 775 is a scale replica of the Statue of Liberty and the iconic Alki Point Lighthouse. For the best dining options take the shuttle to California Ave. SW, where there are restaurants to suit every taste. Another free shuttle is Route 773, serving West Seattle Junction. West Seattle Junction is a hub for shopping, coffee shops, bars and more. If you're not as interested in seeing Alki Beach, or if the weather is not cooperating, this route is another great way to explore West Seattle and all it has to offer.

We were visiting my cousin Gloria in West Seattle and she offered to drive us back to our downtown Seattle hotel. But we wanted to experience the water taxi since we tried all the other forms of public transport. She did say to sit up top and enjoy the views. But....a seagull splattered us earlier and I wasn't about to sit up there for more of those #$%^@ing birds to use us as target practice. The view from the cabin was just as lovely! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/king-county-water-taxi-seattle-2?select=CMRiUV9yFNn2iCn2cgij-A#CMRiUV9yFNn2iCn2cgij-A

Pacific Northwest commuting at its finest! The water taxi is a great way to get downtown and avoid traffic! They have lots of bike racks so you can bike once you get downtown! They run a tight ship, always leaving and arriving on time! The staff is friendly and the space is clean, and there is a bathroom if you need it!

I thought it was really interesting that you have the option to either stay in your car for the duration of the ride or head upstairs to enjoy the indoor seating areas and walk around the ferry. There was also food available for purchase, plus puzzles and other little activities to help pass the time. My absolute favorite part, though, was taking in the views. The Seattle skyline, Bainbridge island, and the ocean scenery were all beautiful to look at throughout the ride. The trip back was especially stunning since we caught it during sunset golden hour, which made everything even more picturesque!! Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience and a fun way to travel to and from Bainbridge Island! I would definitely do it again :)

We ended up really enjoying the tour and would highly recommend to visitors. This would especially be a great thing to add to your itinerary if you're only in the city for a short time, as you get to see a lot of landmarks in a short time. You also get to hear about the city's history and key industries. The ride overall is pretty smooth, and my husband, who gets motion sickness, was totally fine. The boat when docked can experience a little more motion, however, so your mileage may vary. We also found it easy to get seats with good views, and the guides were easy to hear anywhere on the boat. A lot of it was about the downtown Seattle buildings, Space Needle, buildings and parks by the shore, the sea ports and many other cool facts along the way. I throughly enjoyed the hour long tour. The weather was also fantastic to take stunning pictures of the downtown, the mountains and the port. They also had a bar in second level where they served alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, pop corn and some small snacks. Prices were decent for it being a tourist activity.
