I hired Marcus Nettles earlier this year to provide full yard service, which included, per his invoice, "mowing, weed eating, edging, hedge trimming, weed killer, and blowing every 10-12 days" for $149 a month. For reference, I live on a quarter acre plot with a fully fenced backyard and privacy hedges around the front. I understand that my yard is a lot of work. After careful consideration, I have decided to let go of King Essential Yard Services / Keys Tree Trimming due to the inconsistency, unreliability, and lack of communication. I highly recommend to find another business if you're looking for routine yard maintenance. On his first service (Jan 12), Marcus and his guys did a great job and I was very impressed. However, I later realized they didn't clean up very well after themselves. I filled an entire bin of clippings from the hedges they didn't clean up (pictured). The clippings were brown and just sitting in the hedges or scattered on the ground. I have a Bougainville bush that's about six feet tall that was trimmed, and all the cuttings were left to sit on top (pictured). The bush began to die from the top down and I couldn't reach all the dead pieces through the vines and thorns. Three weeks later (Feb 2), Marcus comes out to do my yard, but decided all on his own that he's just not going to mow the backyard because there's a small PVC water pipe at the entrance of the gate to the backyard (pictured). This was not communicated to me. Later that afternoon I sent a text message asking if he mowed the backyard. He did not respond. The next day I called him. He confirmed he did not mow the backyard and explained how he thought the water pipe was "going in the ground in the next 2-3 days." I never said that nor was that ever the plan. This confusion could have easily been avoided if Marcus had communicated, but he didn't. Instead he made assumptions. He didn't communicate that he wouldn't make it within the 10-12 days nor did he communicate about not taking care of the backyard. He came back out a week later to finish the backyard and I showed him that the pipe could be easily lifted from the ground so that the mower could go through. For the third service he did not come back within 10-12 days. I reached out to him when my yard was on day 16. He came out on day 18 (Feb 26) by himself. He made sure I knew it was his day off as if he was doing me a favor, and he gave a quality of work that reflected it was his day off. So much that I inadvertently accused him of not mowing the backyard. While I was later able to confirm that he did mow the backyard, I was also able to confirm Marcus didn't weed wack around the small tree in the front yard (pictured) nor did he trim any of the hedges/bushes, and I have a lot (pictured). I text him about this the same day he came out and he didn't respond until 13 days later. Additionally, the security cameras around the house showed that he only worked on my quarter acre yard for only half an hour. To no one's surprise, on his fourth and last service he came out late again on day 16 (Mar 13). He spent an hour and a half on the yard and it looked excellent! I was both appreciative and saddened by this because if I had received this quality of work every 10-12 days as promised, I would not be writing this review. Overall, Marcus' services are affordable and he can provide excellent work if wants to, but we have yet to see him be consistent, reliable, and responsive.
