He was taking care of our home long before we purchased it and clearly knows the system inside and out. My husband and I have owned a number of rental properties over the years in various states, and as a result, we have dealt with various HVAC companies, both for service and maintenance, and these guys are the best, hands down. Even though our system is old (they don't make them like they used to ), Scotty has never tried to tell us it's time to consider replacing our system or sell us silly upgrades, something other companies we have worked would have absolutely done (and have done to us in the past). They also don't call me and try to sell me additional services. James Thomas and Scotty have our business for life! First time calling, I had a discussion with a tech. He seemed very knowledgeable. I explained to him what I was wanting in a system and told him I had already received one quote. He asked if the quote was less that 15K to which I said yes. To that he said "go with that guy, if he can get you a system for that price". I took that advice, only to find out later that the guy was not licensed. So back to the drawing board we went. I called JF Maxwell a second time and spoke to Jim. I was told to email him my set of plans and that he would schedule some time to go look at the house and get back to me. Two weeks go by and I hear nothing. I call back a third time and get Jim again. I told him that I had spoken to him a couple of weeks prior and was waiting on a quote from him. He had no recollection, so he took my info again and said he'd put it in the system and get someone out to take a look and that he would have a quote for me a couple of days after the visit. A few days later I see their truck visit the site via my security camera. Then I wait, I hear nothing. Called back a fourth time and spoke to a receptionist. I explained to her that I needed to make a decision and was waiting on a quote from them. I was told she would pass on the message and that they'd have the quote back to me by the end of the day. I hear nothing. Again, called back a few days later and got a receptionist. I voiced my disappointment and tell her at this point I don't even need a quote. She promises me to get someone to get back to me asap. Next thing I know, I get another visit scheduled at my site. I don't even care at this point. I do see their truck arrive on my camera, but my builder was at the property and sent them away. I get a feeling these guys are either very disorganized or just way to busy to be able to handle new business, or both. Or perhaps they only like to work on new builds that satisfy a higher price point. Whatever the case may be, I find them to be very unprofessional. I always try to get three quotes. If you are not able to take on new business or are not interested, just tell me. I would've called someone else. Dealing with JFMaxwell was a total waste of time. This would've been close to a $20K sale for them, but they don't seem to care. I hope the owner reads this review. There is something wrong going on at this business that he really needs to fix.

Seth installed a mini split with heat and a/c that perfectly fits my needs. He was here and gone in less than five hours with installation. He is a local Murphy guy who knows the area and people.

I have used JF Maxwell in the past and was satisfied, but I dealt with the original James who has…read moresince retired. I called about our AC not cooling. The technician came promptly and assessed the situation. He said that the refrigerant was low, which is what I suspected. He told me that it required R22, which is obsolete and very expensive. I asked if there was an alternative that would work and was assured that there wasn't. We were on our fifth day without air conditioning so I agreed to pay $1,125.00 for three pounds of R22 to be added. Afterwards I checked with two reputable HVAC companies and was informed that there is an alternative to R22 that could be used which is much less expensive. Also, I found R22 online from several sources for less than $50.00 per pound. I feel taken advantage of and will use someone else in the future.
