On October 24, 2025, my son, an Auburn student, told me his 2018 Honda Accord was acting strange with all the dash warning indicators coming on. He took it to King Honda and was told it needed fuel injectors replaced at a cost of $2200. He was also told he needed a front and rear brake job at another $800. I authorized the injector repairs but told him to wait on the brakes. He was coming home to Louisiana for Thanksgiving, and we would have the brakes checked at our local dealer. Our local dealer said the brakes were nowhere near needing replacement, with 50-60 % life left. I was not feeling great about this dealership, as even though they told us they had to wait for parts on the injector repair, the car was ready a day early, and they kindly took my $2200. Daughter took CRV in for A/C compressor replacement, took two full days, on her way home noticed front lights not working, raised hood, bulbs completely missing along with fender trim washers. Till it back and was fixed. Next day I look under the hood to find the A/C lines missing the compression caps. They gave me attitude when I came in hot due to being back two times. WE CURRENTLY OWN two Honda vehicles--a 2017 Honda Pilot we bought from King Honda at the old location in Auburn AL, and a 2018 Honda CRV we bought in Butte MT. The Honda Brand Hondas have been the most trouble free vehicles we have owned since the 1980s--including a Civic and two earlier CRVs. Dependability, security, comfort, and value have always been the case with our vehicles. The company has made significant improvements to reliability and driver assistance systems in recent years. The Old King Honda The old location was a dump. Dirty, cramped, and deteriorating facility. I hope the next property owner bulldozes the buildings and parking lot and builds an attractive, new business for a fast-growing economy. The New King Honda The brand new dealership is in a great location at Hwy 280 and Opelika Rd. The sales staff need sales training and customer service skills to match their products and the clientele. Fat lazy guys sitting at their new desks is a tired old way of doing business (or not doing it). The old paradigm of 7:30 to 6:00 six days a week is crushing to a sales group and results in low morale, in-fighting, poor health, and cynicism. The old ways of being "Like a Used Car Salesman" isn't going to work for the business or the people. The service people also need help. Ignoring customers, turning your back, talking on the phone, making excuses, and trying to impress customers with your superior knowledge won't cut it. Greeting people, listening carefully, affirming your commitment and understanding, and looking for ways to help--these are the proven skills of up-selling and repeat business. I do not recommend anyone use King Honda. Their fees are highway robbery! $179 diagnostic fee just to look at the car; does NOT go towards repairs. Called three other Honda dealerships and they all put that towards the repair if you choose to have the work done. McConnell Honda in Montgomery charges $81 and applies it toward the repair. Not to mention King Honda's labor rate is $218.17 per hour! Forgive this OOS Mama's rant here but they are ripping people off @ King Honda. McConnell's labor rate is $154 per hour and Courtesy Honda here in Florida charges $155 per hour. Take your vehicle someplace else! read more

I bought a new 2020 Pilot Touring here, and have not stopped having issues since I hit around 600 miles on the odometer. I have been in the shop for repairs around 20 or so times with no end in sight for my problems. I traded in a great working car for this piece of junk. I've had problems with the radio and emergency braking for over 3 years! This car is a safety hazard. This has been the worst car and service experience that I've ever had. The car was in the shop from December 29 to Jan 6 this time. Honda corporate has told me multiple times that King Honda service can claim that the car is unrepairable and they will buy it back. King Honda's service manager tells me that they can't do that. What am I supposed to do with this stupid car? I brought the car in with a list of 14 operational and repair damage problems including the radio/ entertainment issues. 9 of those 14 problems were not addressed. One (sagging/ separating bumper) I was told I would have to take to a collision center to have reviewed. The others I was told could not be reproduced, therefore nothing can be done. Even though I have pictures and videos (see YouTube playlist above) of most of the safety issues in the car, I'm told that since it cannot be reproduced in the shop that it cannot be fixed or addressed further. They seemed to be more concerned with getting their rental car back than completing the repairs. Also, a broken trim piece that they told me they had the replacement parts for ready to install 3 months ago are still not repaired, and I'm told that the parts have been ordered again... Update 4/24/2023: I have finally gotten rid of my nightmare car and no longer have to deal with this nightmare company. My experience was unbelievably good. I have shared it with everyone I know. My honda broke down on I 85 with an engine light on. Luckily a Google search of the internet showed a Honda dealership within 9 miles. I called the dealership and explained I would be towed there and I needed help. The tow came 1 .5 hours later putting me 30 minutes before closing. Noting all the baby shower gifts, yorkie and ice chests in the car which were heading to Atlanta for my daughters baby shower I was hosting, they kept 2 mechanism and the service rep and parts manager overtime to help. Sadly I needed a part they did not have. They sent out locally for an off brand. It was not up to standards. The part was ordered and the mechanics and management laoded all my stuff into a new Honda they loaned at no cost for me to make the baby shower. They did a great job calling me in Atlanta and updating me throughout. I attempted to tip the mechanics who stayed overtime. They returned it saying it was their job to help people. When have I ever heard that from my mechanic? The car is running really well and I asked them to do check for any thing else that my local honda missed. It was done. My husband and I plan to schedule oil changes there en route to Atlanta and do lunch while we wait. We will probably buy our next 2 vehicles from them when they need replaced. Unprofessional, Disrespectful of my time, and Unreliable on completing the job promptly. How can a service department that is so terrible stay in business? I usually don't write negative reviews but I think people should know that this is not a good place to have your car maintained. Sure wish I had read the other negative reviews before carrying my car to them. I definitely do NOT recommend King Honda Auburn-Opelika Service Department. I called to set up a time to have the oil changed in my CRV and the Service manager scheduled an appointment for three days later. Took my car in at 8:30 AM that morning at the appointment time for the oil change. At 4:00 PM when I still had not heard back from them, I realized that they would be closing soon so I called. The Service manager said that they had not completed the oil change on my car because they had been very busy. I was going out of town the next morning so I told him I would come and pick up the car because it wasn't possible to leave it overnight. When I got there 20 minutes later, they said that the oil change had been completed and tires rotated. They had used synthetic oil which was not what I requested so the bill was higher than expected. Also, they failed to replace the window decal noting the oil change and when the next one was due. I have no confidence that they actually did what they charged me for. read more

I would NEVER purchase a vehicle at this dealership under any circumstances after the experience we had. We talked with a salesperson about a car that had been traded that same afternoon. We were looking for a first car for our daughter and she loved it. We looked it over, sat in it, asked to test drive but we're told we couldn't because it had not been checked out by the shop and something could happen during the test drive. We gave him our contact information since they couldn't tell us the exact price yet but promised to call on Monday. We received a proposal, set up an appointment and were planning to purchase it the next afternoon if everything checked out okay. Literaly one hour before we were to be there, we were told that the car had sold that morning. The salesman said he "couldn't stop a sale". After contacting the GM, I was told that it's unfortunate that it was handled that way, but another couple bought it for their daughter and it "sounded like two similar situations". He made a lot of excuses for what happened and said he'd talk to the salesperson, but he wouldn't have handled it that way.Nothing he could do about it now though. At the end of the day, it's about making a sale and not keeping your word or helping the customer at this dealership. read more

One of the best experiences I have ever had with an auto service company! First, we compared prices to other companies in the Auburn and Columbus, GA area and were quoted over $500 less with King Honda. They did not try to over sell what we needed done, but stuck with what was actually required from our vehicle manual. It's hard to find an auto company who doesn't try and take your money, but these people did not do that! They also did great work on our vehicle in less time than we were originally told! I took my Honda Accord there to have new tires on the front. The staff were very nice, and wait time was reasonable. A week later, the low tire light came on and after inspecting the tires, I was astonished at the amount of scratches on the wheel covers. It was as if someone who had no idea what they were doing installed the new tires. There is no way to fix the scratches, only to replace the covers. Very disappointed, and will not return to this dealership. read more

Last semester I took my 2009 Honda Civic here after discovering that my Honda dealership in Atlanta had not fully replaced my plug when I had a routine oil change. The plug popped out while I was driving on Moores Mill, causing all the oil in the tank to pour out without my knowledge, allowing me to drive a few miles with no oil in my car! A few months later, my engine "threw a rod", a $4,000+ repair. This dealership in Auburn took it upon themselves to help me prove the connection between the malpractice with my oil change to the engine going out, saving me the $4,000 and maintaining my view of Honda as a whole! The employees at the help desk in the repair shop are very kind and have looked into concerns of mine cost-free! That is really hard to come by nowadays. read more

Had to take my car here for a recall to be fixed. Made an appointment, but there was some snafu, and my car ended up sitting in the same place for 4+ hours without being touched. No one called us prior to the service department closing for the day, so we went back to retrieve the vehicle. They had lost the key and had no idea why the work had not been done. Since the service department had already closed, we had to deal with the sales staff. They were rude, disrespectful, and totally unhelpful. "We're sales, that's service, we don't know anything about it." When we asked about the potential hazard of continuing to drive a vehicle with a recalled airbag that they failed to repair, the sales guys laughingly told us we could just try to sue Honda if anything happened, but that if we died, we'd just be SOL. Um, ever heard of customer service? The next day, I got a call from the service manager, and they went out of their way to correct the mistake and make the experience easy for me. Offered many apologies, a rental vehicle, and a free oil change coupon. The work was done quickly, and I appreciated their eagerness to "make things right" after dropping the ball. They seemed genuinely apologetic and were very nice to me. Have never shopped for a vehicle here, but from what I've experienced so far, I'd rather deal with the service department than the sales people. I'm an out of state female college student and was having some issues with my car. Before the pandemic I had brought my car in for a noise my car would make when it started up. Took a few days to get a response after leaving my car but they said they knew what the issue was and I paid the about $200 to fix. About a week after I got my car back, the pandemic sent everyone home but my car still made the noise. Fast forward a year and I'm having battery issues. After three batteries in less than two years, it's definitely not a battery issue anymore. I go to bring my car in. If you haven't been to this place before it's easy to get stuck asking where do I go in and park my car. The Honda center is a dealership, service center, and parts all in one. There are plenty of cars lined up to buy but when you're looking for service it can get kind of confusing, especially when the front door isn't super inviting. I'm aware of the stigma that women usually have no idea about anything regarding cars, but I definitely felt like this stigma was thrown on me at this place. I get it, I'm a young female college student and chances are I don't really know what's going on. But if I'm coming to the service center, I have most likely been told to do so by someone who knows what they're talking about. I walked up to the service desk and was greeted by a man who I began to talk to. I shared my info and explained to him that if I leave the car for a week (in far away campus parking because that's the only affordable option) my car battery completely dies. Every time it dies and I call AAA or take it to a place, they all say that the battery is completely lifeless and I need a new one. As I've said earlier, after this happening three times I no longer think it's a battery issue. I explained this to the man at the service desk and he stated "well if you leave the car for a week it is going to die" in a tone like this was completely obvious and I just didn't know what I was talking about. When you have an issue with your car and you don't know what it is and how to fix it, you bring it to someone who knows how to do those things. But when that someone treats you like you're completely clueless, it's very uncomfortable. If I had any other option to bring my car to be fixed, I would take it somewhere else but this is the only option I have and even with it being so close, I consider driving 5+ hours home to take it to someone else. I understand that just one person can ruin it for the whole place but really my overall experience hasn't been great. I sadly have to have my father call and explain the issue otherwise I don't get listened to. Also, if you're a college student or someone that cant find a ride, you will have to Uber or Lyft back and forth. Some service centers have have ride services for the people to go home if their car has to be left. This place does not. So paying for a $10 Uber each way is a sad reality. In my case, the car had to be dropped off at 8:30 in the morning and I had to pay for an Uber home because they wouldn't be able to look at the car until the afternoon, even though they didn't seem that busy. Overall, I have just hated my experiences here and I wish I had another option to take my car to. read more

After looking all around Columbus for a new (used) vehicle and meeting dead end after dead end for my trade, we went to King Honda Car World. I spoke to Keri on the phone and she made an appointment with us for yesterday. We showed up quite early and she was extremely friendly and helpful, regardless. I was worried about the price my trade in was going to get, since I feel the dealerships in Columbus were not giving me a fair price. I had nothing to worry about, they gave us $4000 over anything we'd been offered in Columbus, which meant I wouldn't have negative equity going into the new contract. Everyone was very nice and they had a good selection of the car I wanted. I would absolutely send friends and family to this dealership. I feel they treated us far more fairly than anyone in Columbus did and it was well worth the drive! read more

It has become so bad with attitude that I plan to take my vehicle to the local Toyota dealership for future service outside of warranty work. I bought a used honda fit before Thanksgiving. They agreed to fix a few things. still having problems getting the work done. The sales manager is not very nice when things are not as he sees fit. Purchased a certified used 2009 Honda Accord EX-L in 2011 that had 20 something thousand miles on it. First off, the car is beautiful! But over time and realizing that it has been burning oil and has horrible grinding (vtc actuator defect) when I start it, I have realized that the motor is complete junk! My factory window tint is so bubbled that I can't see out of my back window, poor windshield visibility in the rain, leather on the door panels and center console is coming apart, transmission sounds like it slips and does not want to change out gears, absolutely no power when you are merging into traffic or at initial take off so bad that I basically have to floor it and it jumps to 6/7 thousand rpms and on top of it all my sun roof leaks!!!! There have been so many service bulletins posted about defective parts that it is ridiculous!! I did the recommended oil consumption test and within 2 months my oil wasn't even touching the dip stick!! I am supposed to be getting my pistons and rings replaced as well as numerous other things (NOT by King Honda) but American Honda will not cover the cost for their KNOWN defects with certain parts and it makes me sick to know that I only have 107 thousand miles on my car and 7 months left to pay on this piece of worthless trash and I'm at a total loss basically!! The best way to waste $22,500 is to go throw it away on one of King Honda's vehicles! I will NEVER own a Honda again!! I can't wait to get a TOYOTA 4-RUNNER after I finish throwing away my money on this POS!!! read more

I drove 50 miles to look at a Honda Odyssey and was extremely disappointed. The salesman I first spoke to knew nothing about the product (I could forgive that because he was new to the job) so I asked to speak to a sales manager because I had some questions that the first guy couldn't answer. The manager gave me a look like I was inconveniencing him (strike 1). I asked him if he could give me some pricing options on a few models and he said it would be very difficult (funny...the Toyota guy gave me several different models with prices - strike 2). I told the manager that I couldn't do business with him unless he could give me actual prices to compare and that he was competing for my business between a Toyota and Honda dealer to which he replied that he wasn't (strike 3). What kind of manager doesn't think the customer has an option between car brands??? I've never met a sales staff that was not willing to work with a customer to provide every bit of information possible to make a sale. It was like these guys wouldn't even talk to me unless I promised to buy a car from them on the spot...sorry I don't make $35k decisions on the spot! I've also never met such a rude manager. A good manager helps a customer and earns their trust. If this is what you want, DON'T shop at King Honda in Auburn! read more
