This is a lovely old hotel that has its own life on the inside…read more The architecture is absolutely srunning. The porch on level 3 is absolutely one of my favorite spaces in the hotel. Due to a convention we werent able to explore their eateries, and thats Ok. We had the Jessica Tandy Suite on the 3rd floor (rm 317). It was very spacious, the bed firn but comfortable. The sitting room furniture has come from estate sales and thrift stores to have that old feeling, we were afraid wed break the glass table, but we did not. There is a presence of a mold smell, but it didnt really bother us as we went nose blind. The 3rd floor is reportedly haunted, but because my body wouldn't cooperate Inwasnt able to go on the haunted tour. I did feel conpelled ro check out room 333. I would stay here again.

This particular visit was a quick stay over for a couple of hours after a local event. Unfortunately we had to check out early due to traveling to avoid the incoming winter weather. The young lady at the front desk was so nice with assisting us with deciding on which restaurant to dine from inside the hotel. Although the hotel has undergone some drastic renovations, it still needs a few more personal touches to bring it back to all its grandeur. Peeling paint among the ceilings and faint musk smells throughout the hallways prevent this hotel from having five stars. But if you're looking for a small touch of old time, luxury and large spacious rooms, then this is definitely the place to be.

I am giving two stars because the guy at the front desk was real nice. However, stand aware: Were…read morethis gentleman not there you would get a negative rating, were I able. Let's address my issues: 1. Very few guests are currently staying at the Quality Inn Americus. I should not have to walk across the property to my room. There must have been an open room closer. Seriously, the place was empty. 2. I was not able to get into my room and had to run back to the office. The manager also could not get in, but had an electronic device that disabled the lock. I told him not to worry about the keys as I would be up and out in the morning. 3. Upon getting into my room I soon tried to sleep yet was awoken by the guests attempting to access the next room. They too could not get in and the manager again had to be called to use his door opener. (Yeah, it is strange that all those rooms are vacant, everyone had to be in one area.) 4. A hot shower....Nah... here you get a luke warm shower. 5. There was holes in the wall.... No comment... 6. The front door would not fully shut unless I gave it a hard kick. Fellow travelers... cheaper, but so is a roach motel.

While it was conveniently located, the stay was not pleasant. I called 2 times to confirm that a…read morecheckin at 1am would be ok. I was told by an associate at that location it would be both times, both times stated qith no charge. So, upon our arrival, Gaykay started the experience poorly. He was sleeping on the couch when we arrived. Came to the door with no shoes on. He proceeded to tell me there was a $40 charge to start at 1am. His voice matching the associate I spoke with on 2 separate occassions, but because I couldn't prove it was him, I reluctantly paid the additional charge. Upon arriving in the room, it was really gross. The bathroom area was a disaster. It looked like someone was aiming for the walls, if you catch my drift. The toilet had dust and hair all over it. The tub looked like those overexaggerated Bath Fitter commercials, as if it hadn't been scrubbed in years. Even with a request to clean the bathroom, it was still in shambles. I was also told if I was a Choice Rewards member, breakfast would be comped. Gaykay said there would be a charge. At that point I had enough of the extras being tacked on, and asked to speak to the manager. He relented and offered breakfast for the remainder of the stay, because he too, was trying to lie about the number I called being the corporate line. Keep in mind this number was on his business card AND the front of the building, AND much of the literature associated with this location. The staff outside of Gaykay, was exceptional. They are the ones who salvaged some stars. The young lady in the restaurant was extraordinarily accommodating. The young ladies who took over the front desk after Gaykay's shift were marvelous. The cleaning crew that I encountered were sweet and pleasant. Would I stay here again? Only if it was gutted, renovated, and completely fresh. It was clearly a motel in the area that was purchased by the Choice Group, slapped together with some mild upgraded, and rebranded.
