Hands down consistent delicious food. I generally give them 5 stars. Not today as the service was rude and not consistent with what I've previously experienced. Actually the lady announced it to everyone that "we just let people seat themselves nowadays" to another customer which was towards us. As we walked in we were not greeted. So we picked a seat and sat down. Then we seen the sign amongst all the other signs. Truly embarrassing experience and if she just told us or had we seen the sign we would have known. First time coming here and very delicious. I ordered the 6 piece egg rolls ($13) and absolutely loved it. So crunchy and the sweet chili sauce on the side was amazing. I'm giving this restaurant a 4 out of 5 star review for a few simple reasons. 1.) the waiting time for us to order took a while, especially for another customer that was sitting in front of me. When I placed my order they just got sated and when I received my food they were still waiting to be ordered. Not to mention that the waitress who took both of our orders was complaining about her health issues. Sorry that you're going through a lot but I'm just hungry. My family and I ordered the rare beef pho which was surprisingly priced right for how big it was, and summer rolls and dumplings that were soft and had bits of noodles inside. The food overall was delicious and it made us very full. The tables and seating were cheap. We could tell immediately that the tables and chairs were plastic but we didn't care as we only cared for how the food tasted. Hands down the best Vietnamese BanhMi I've had. Was craving the banhmi for a while and decided to give this place a try. The parking was packed but I was able to find a spot and I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. I ordered the Chicken BanhMi without cilantro. (I'm not a fan of cilantro) the bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, not soggy at all. The daikon and carrots were perfect, not vinegary and it was loaded with flavorful chicken pieces. It's outdoors.. I've been eating and recommending Kings for years. They expanded their menu since moving from the food truck and their new soups are so good. I usually order pick up but yesterday I went to dine in with friends for lunch and had the worst service in Hilo :( The older local lady who works the front ignored our party for a good 5-10 minutes while serving other customers and didn't acknowledge us at all as she passed by to serve other tables. We finally got to order by standing up near the register awkwardly staring at her (after she scolded us for not acknowledging her upon our arrival). If I wasn't on a lunch break with limited time, I would've left, but ended up staying and eating. The shrimp banh mi was excellent, but the soup came out just warm so that was a bummer. **I would not go back to dine in and it'll be a while before I take out. read more

We heard about this place from Yelp Reviews, which let's face it aren't always written by trustworthy people. However, in this case the positive reviews are well founded. We ordered the beef Pho, and the shrimp summer rolls. First off, the summer rolls are HUGE... each is about 6" long and packed with fresh veggies, aromatic herbs, perfectly cooked noodles, and tasty shrimp. The peanut fish-sauce (which I mixed with Sriracha) was the perfect dip for the rolls and my wife thought they were some of the best she's ever had. I agree. A single order of rolls is a full meal by itself, by the way... you could easily satiate a small child with one roll, and my wife could have filled herself with the full order of rolls (3 rolls if memory serves). The Pho was also fantastic. The broth, which is the foundation of any good (or bad) Pho, was delicious, savory, hot, and packed with all the umami flavors we love... The beef was tender and perfectly prepared with salty hints of basil and onion, and I'd be willing to bet the broth is made with a very old recipe passed down... it had the complexity of a broth handmade with pride and passion for authenticity. The truck and the outdoor picnic tables are nothing special, but I couldn't care less what the area or the outside of a truck looks like... all that matters is their food is hot, fresh, and delicious... and on these three criteria we are happy to rank King's with 5 stars. By the way, we called ahead and the food was ready for pickup when we arrived. The prices are a bit on the high side, but top quality food like this takes a lot of preparation and the price paid is fair given the quality and deliciousness. Mahalo for an excellent meal! Came to this food truck when on a day trip for work from Oahu. I love a good Vietnamese sandwich and have to say this place is amazing! Packed with pickled veggies and delicious pork and both were perfect. The bread itself was a step above most banh mi places as it had a developed taste, chew, and just the right amount of crunch. Absolutely disgusting. The pho broth was almost inedible--overpowered by some strange, unpleasant spice--and the meat was tough and low quality. Even the egg rolls were bad. I finally found an awesome Banh Mi sandwich right in Hilo, that honestly is one of the best I have had. Bread is warm and crispy, filled with your choice of a generous portion of chicken or pork, pickled vegetables, cilantro, cucumber and tomato. Wow! $9.00 for a Banh Mi sandwich, can't go wrong! We ate there at our last evening on the big island. I chose this because I'm both gluten and dairy intolerant. I usually love this place and their food but was really disappointed with how they denied service to a lady and their service dog. They had signage stating "no pets expect service animals" but when we walked inside they said "owner doesn't like dogs and cats because the customers don't like it." I went outside to double check their signage and let them know it said service animals were okay and this was a service animal. They were adamant about them saying it's what the owners wanted. I get that I got there 40 minutes prior to closing. They were sitting down outside the truck. When they seen me pull up, they stood up and started putting stuff away. Then waited and watched me and my wife get my toddler out of her car seat, walk up to the truck, still didn't say anything till I had to ask if they were still open. Then, (in a how dare you even ask voice) say "no, were closed". Dude could have waived me off when they seen me pulling in the driveway. Or even when you seen me park right outside the food truck. I was excited to try it as I've passed the truck many times. Unfortunately I can't leave a review for the food. The menu for pho was many a bit obscured possible a result of time and exposure to the elements. I proceeded to order spring rolls then opted for the "beef flank pho". The person taking my order replied "which one". Again I said "beef flank". He then started to explain that it's beef or flank. Confused I said well what's the difference. He took a deep breath, obviously annoyed by my question and very brief interaction. He then put something down and looked at me and said "look", and before he could continue I just said "never mind, I don't want anything anymore". Glad I did, I found another place less than 2 miles away and the broth was heaven! And prices were reasonable. No price gauging. Anyhow I hope to try this place but maybe with a more Patient person and they can stand to clear up their menu. Ever since coming back from Oahu, I've been craving a good banh mi. I didn't know what place in Hilo had relatively good ones until a few of my friends posted a picture of their recent banh mis from this food truck, and they looked BIG. I just had to try it! It used to be located at the local Farmer's Market, but I guess due to COVID, they moved their truck in a residential area on East Kawili St, perpendicular to Kilauea Ave, near HCC. They have their sign up on one of the corners and take phone orders! I believe they usually close around 4 or 5pm. Not too sure if they're opened 7 days a week tho. My housemate and I both got the banh mi for $8 each (CASH ONLY). She phoned in the order and upon arriving, she received freshly made banh mi wrapped around with foil by one of the owners. The sandwich was really packed when we removed the foil. It consisted of a generous amount of meat (not too sure if it was pork or beef, tbh, but SUPER tender) soaked in a delicious sauce along with mayonnaise and topped with a generous amount of vegetables (tomatoes (first time having tomatoes in my banh mi), cucumbers, pepper, cilantro, and pickled carrots/daikon). My one mistake was not asking for no cilantro (not a fan). I thought the sandwich would be topped with it but instead, it was meticulously shoved and hidden below the pickled veggies... as if I had to eat 'em... I wished it also had pate but regardless, the banh mi was really delicious. I would definitely come back again to support their business. The next time I do, I would like to try their pho. read more

I'm glad that I did my research on yelp prior to choosing King's Vietnamese Cuisine to get my fix. The reviews were right. Their menu is simple. The food is authentic and full of flavor. I found my go to hole in the wall spot when that pho craving hits! We ordered take out and everything was packaged with care. I asked if they allow BYOB and was told no. Parking is minimal. I noticed that there was a tow truck parked across the street, so as tempting as it may be, I wouldn't park in the adjacent parking lots fronting the other businesses. If it helps, it's the building with the pink trims. We couldn't find it at first, because there used to be a different business there. The service we received was very pleasant. This is a food truck by the Saturday Hilo Farmers Market. It's a one-man operation, but the food is great, though it takes a while to get your order because he makes everything fresh! I enjoyed the robot shrimp, which is a triangle-shaped lumpia-style flaky pastry filled with pork and vegetables and a whole cooked shrimp and the pork stick, which is a meal in itself! This is some of the best Vietnamese food I've had. We were at the Farmer's market nearby but weren't feeling the typical açaí bowls or poke. My boyfriend found this on a quick google search and we took a chance - Sooo happy we did! We ordered a bahn mi and dumplings ($9 each) and the portion was huge!! Coming from NY, we'd expect a small baguette with 3-6 dumplings but this was an extremely filling stuffed sandwich split between the 2 of us and a dozen dumplings. Highly recommend you ask for the lemongrass chili oil to put on top of the dumplings. Definitely a small hole in the wall place we were lucky to find! Authentic, delicious, and very filling.
