My recommendation: in the future, say there was credit card fraud, demand to speak to the manager, and refuse to be put on hold. Ask the manager for personal cell number. I ordered groceries for curbside pickup. I had ordered a gift card. It is set up so that you have to go online to fund the card. I was told when I picked up the order that they could not get the gift card since in was Sunday and the person with the key was off. How can management not leave a key to the case on a weekend? Why did it need to be locked up since it has no value until funded online? The next (and last) curbside order was placed about 10 am for a 7-8 pm pickup. Update your sale price tags! Every time I walk out of this store I find I've been overcharged for something due to sale prices not being updated. I already have a full time job and I'm not going to assume the role of their pricing and promotions team. After multiple times being told "we don't get hours allotted to take the signs down" and other nonsense excuses I have switched to WalMart and have yet to be overcharged. Clearly you don't care or acknowledge this is a problem even after multiple news reports across the country have reported this, as every rebuttal from Kroger is the typical "there is no problem here". If you're looking for a prime example of a store with abysmal customer service and flagrant negligence, look no further than the King Soopers at 5301 W 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212. I had the misfortune of entering this store for a simple task - to exchange batteries I had mistakenly purchased in the wrong size. My experience was nothing short of infuriating. Upon my entrance, I was welcomed warmly by an employee named Boo, whose professionalism and courtesy were immediately overshadowed by the appalling actions of the rest of the staff. Boo kindly directed me to the unattended customer service counter, where I was informed that the staff was on a 15-minute break. I patiently waited, watching as several other disgruntled customers came and went, lamenting the store's habitual lack of service. After the designated break time elapsed, I sought assistance from a petite blonde woman who appeared to be a manager. She dismissively brushed me aside, claiming she was "busy." Moments later, she led a staff huddle directly in front of me, where I stood waiting in vain for acknowledgment. Every staff member at the huddle made eye contact with me, yet none of them assisted or even acknowledged my presence. As I continued to wait, an elderly woman waiting for a money order nearly passed out as she waited and was ignored. During the huddle, a man walked in, brazenly shoplifted items, strolled right through the huddled staff, and exited the store, alarms blaring, all under the watchful but indifferent eyes of the entire staff huddle. After the huddle disbanded, the team went about their tasks, still ignoring me. 40 min. Had passed since I first started waiting. Another customer told me he was informed by an assistant manager that it would be another 30 minutes before the customer service desk would be staffed. Defeated, I left the store. On my way out, Boo approached me, asking if I had received the help I needed. Upon hearing that I hadn't, Boo apologized profusely. Though I appreciated Boo's sincerity, it couldn't erase the shocking neglect and complete lack of regard for customers displayed by the rest of the staff and management. This store epitomizes poor leadership, and whoever that dismissive petite blonde woman is should be relieved of her duties immediately. The abhorrent lack of accountability and indifference toward customers is reprehensible, and I will never set foot in this King Soopers again. I have been going to this Kings since I was a kiddo. I will say that the parking lot is generally chaos to use the kindest term, but once you get inside, the staff is nice, the shelves are well-stocked and it is CLEAN. It is always so nice to go to a grocery store where people are pleasant. I will say the one area that I see could use some improvement is having more checkout lines open with employees ringing people out. Not even can or wants to do self-checkout. read more

I've been going to this pharmacy for the past 5 years, with my prescriptions getting screwed up on a monthly basis. They always blame it on someone else, the insurance, the doctors office etc... Don't buy that BS. This last time I had a very important injection and they screwed up by sending a pre auth for half of the amount needed and didn't even bother to tell me they only filled half of the prescription. I realized when I got home and couldn't take the dose. When I called the pharmacist told me too bad either take the half dose or wait till next month? "WOW" My doctors office called them to literally tell them how to fix it, since they couldn't figure it out and they hung up on them. One person flat out lied and said they filled the whole script this place is a shit show. The pharmacy has awful customer service and wouldn't disclose pricing without a long, drawn-out conversation. I work in health insurance and understand how pharmacy benefits work. I called to ask the price of a medication before filling. It is simple for pharmacies to look up this information based on a customer's benefits. This wasn't simple for Shane. He told me he couldn't look it up and needed me to bring in the prescription before they could tell me the price. I told him that wasn't true and that he could use my insurance information and the specific medication and tell me the price. He told me to call my insurance company. I told him that he had access to the information and to please look it up. You'd think I asked him to give me a kidney. He was rude, snarky, and unprofessional. After sighing rudely, putting me on hold for an unnecessarily long amount of time, and then asking my birthday three different times he finally told me the price. He told me he did this as a favor to me and that in the future I needed to bring in the prescription. He didn't give any reason for this whatsoever. I'm not sure why it would be a favor to tell a customer the price of a product. CVS was able to do it in about 30 seconds. I will never go to this King Soopers again. read more

I really do like this King Soopers, but I'll be taking a break from it until they get their construction complete, which may be a while. The construction is an absolute mess. They really should have shut this store down for a month and just got the construction done, rather than trying to stay open. Some aisles are barely wide enough for one cart, let alone two. Everything has been moved to different areas of the store, which would be fine if they would bother to put up signs where things used to be, saying "items in this area moved to aisle xx". My number one issue with this place being open during construction is that they aren't bothering to stock it. On my most recent trip there, they didn't have any raw nuts other than peanuts, not a single bag of frozen cauliflower in any brand, all of the deli rotisserie chickens were so incredibly overcooked that all of the skin was burned, and when I finally found where they had moved the frozen fish to, there were only like 3 kinds. They don't even bother to ask, "did you find everything alright" at the checkout, anymore. I'll be back when you get your crap together, King Soopers. Until then, my grocery moolah will get spent elsewhere. read more

This store is so poorly run! Items consistently ring up incorrectly. For instance, today we had 16 items ring up higher than the add price or the price on the shelf. After a 45 minute discussion with the rude customer service lady and going back out into the store and taking pictures of their displayed prices, we finally got back the over $20 that they overcharged us. This happens regularly. I cant imagine how much they make because people dont look at their receipts. Also, this store is notorious for having employees standing around chatting while customers have to bag their own groceries. We shop for groceries three times a week because we cook for our business. But it is time to switch to Safeway I think. This is a very poorly run store! read more

Wow. We are happy with KS generally, and my wife shops there every two weeks. But just had a "USDA Choice Beef Chuck Pot Roast Boneless" that was the worst and most gristle-infused piece of meat I've been served in years. Was 2.99 lbs at $5.99 per so $17.91 total. Label number code was 1 41947 01791 5 , in the event this is helpful to the store people. I figure just bad quality control, and a bad one got through that should've been turned into hamburger. The customer service was AWFUL I went thanksgiving shopping I asked the man in the produce who seemed like he didn't want to even acknowledge me where onions were and he said "somewhere overt there it's literally thanksgiving eve if we don't have it then it's not there go look" I was a bit thrown off so I walked away....the next thing I know I see other confused shoppers trying to find stuff a lovely customer actually helped me find the yellow onions I needed it. Next the meat department I went over there they didn't want to acknowledge me either until I waved and the guy gave me a look like "oh no another one" so I asked him where this specialty cheese is and he said our cheese is about to be shut down...I said is there any other cheese I can go get? He said yeah by the Christmas tree I said what Christmas tree? He said "that one and continued pointing aggressively" it wasn't even a real Christmas tree it was a white on white painting of a holiday tree... I went over there doing nothing. The cheese section wasn't shut down he lied and said this were the only ones available by the white o white wall tree so I went back and saw more cheeses I finally found the one I got. Then I was looking for thin sliced bacon the other meat department worker gave me a hard time saying all bacon is the same I said for the recipe I need thin slice. He said well your gona have to deal with the thick sliced I said " do you think it'll work if I slice it myself? (This recipe is special and needs to be done correctly it says in my cooking book or it won't come out the same" then he went ahead and said I'm not slicing your bacon! I said " That's not what I meant... I asked if I bought the thick ones can I slice them myself and get a similar result? I'm new at cooking this guy is a meat department worker I just wanted a little help and he was not helpful neither was his other employee they were both rude. Next I was looking for a spice I asked the produce guy I really didn't. Want to encounter him again but no one else was available and the meat guy told me he can't tell me we're spices are because that isn't his job it's the produce guy's job. I went to him and he said well once again it'll be on isle 8 I said I understand but do you have a general idea of where you can give me where it's at ? He said there in alphabetical order. I went looked in alphabetical order absolutely nothing was in alphabetical order I once again asked another friendly customer if they could help me find it and they also made a comment on how rude your store's customer service and employers specifically in the produce and meat department are probably more in guessing. I felt I welcomed and like thanksgiving is supposed to be exciting and fun to go shopping for making family dinners but this experience left me in a bad mood . I've never had that much negative energy from employees who not only tried to ignore me, it help me , gave me Mia leading information, was rude , made inappropriate comments like I need him to slice my bacon that is in package...I didn't ask that he just wanted to be mean. Your employers are mean and need attitude checks!!! I won't be shopping here ever again. Well, more like Duke Sooper's. This is my friendly neighborhood grocery sotre, but it wasn't always that way. When my roommates and I relocated from Edgewater to the West Highlands last spring, this one usurped our grocery needs (from the KS down the street at 19th and Sheridan). Sometimes, I want the old one back. Not that this is a bad store, because I still find myself there every week. As a company, King Sooper's is a 4 or 5 star vendor in my book, and you'd have to look far and wide to find me in an Albertson's or Safeway. But this particular store has a few drawbacks. The aisles are small, and the selection seems sub-par when compared with other King Sooper's stores I've visited (especially ethnic foods). It's kind of like a grocery store sampler, and will provide little for shoppers looking for specialty items. The checkers and baggers are friendly, but lines sometimes lean toward the long side, and the store often seems unprepared during peak hours. The parking lot here gets hot and humid in the warmer months, and gets a little shady at night, if you know what I mean. That having been said, this store is greater than the sum of its faults, and usually provides a quick and pleasant shopping experience. The workers here are helpful, and the store is typically pretty clean and organized. The value at King Sooper's is the main reason for shopping there, and their specials and discounts never disappoint me. I haven't had to rely too much on the bakery, deli, or floral departments, but any time I have, their specialists have provided friendly and prompt service. While I sometimes long for my larger, more fully-stocked KS down the street, this store never lets me down when I need to stock up on my weekly groceries or run out for a missing item. First of all, I want to thank King Soopers for sending coupons in the mail that are clearly based on previous purchases! They even throw in a couple coupons for absolutely free items... thanks! This particular location is right by my house. I enjoy the eclectic clientele, the new renovations which include a fresh sushi bar, and the general cleanliness of the entire store. On the flip side, this store seems to have a bit of trouble keeping all items stocked in a timely manner. When I ask if the item is available "somewhere in the back," employees are always happy to help, but I'd rather not have to ask. And here's what really gets to me: I always try to go through the self check-out, no matter how many items I have! Why? Because I do not enjoy hearing all the personal gossip that inevitably occurs between checkers, baggers, etc. They complain about work hours, other employees, personal issues that I don't want to hear about, etc, etc. It's uncomfortable and embarrassing. To make it worse, often times all the chatter results in some purchase of mine not to get bagged, and then I have to return to the store. sigh! So, thanks for the coupons, thanks for the clean and updated store. But keep shelves stocked, and please stop sharing personal gripes during check-out. It really isn't cool. read more

WORST. Really, probably the worst grocery store I've ever been to, and I go there at least once a week. Every time they are out of something on my shopping list. Most times I go, it's the unsweetened almond milk that is missing from the shelves. I ask most times why they are out and I almost always get a snotty answer. Best answer was "well, you know, that whole almond milk thing is just a trend that'll go away eventually, so theres really no need to stock more of it." I am here several times a week. Generally speaking, it's a decent enough grocery store, especially since the renovation. The high point is definitely the man who (I assume) is the produce manager. Medium height, middle age, ponytail. He is SO extremely helpful. If you are dissatisfied with your produce in any way, just let him know and he'll comp you a replacement. THAT is awesome. He will also slice into any fruit so you can taste it and determine whether you want to buy more. Total farmer's market style right there... I dig it. However. I do have a few problems with the rest of the joint. Yeah, I said joint... deal with it, writers of That One Recent Article Naming All The Words That Should Be Banned From Online Blogs and Reviews (joint is nowhere NEAR the perennially-annoying "nom nom nom," so get a grip, wordsnobs). First gripe: the Sushi Bar. It was SO GREAT when it first opened. A really nice option for a grab-and-go meal. But prices have gone up to higher than those you might find at a reputable sushi bar, and quality has gone WAY WAY DOWN. Judging by the package labels, they have switched sushi companies from JFE to something else. Not a good switch. Second gripe: no Ginger Beer. Not ginger ALE, ginger BEER. I keep suggesting they stock it, and it never happens. Even just Reed's would be nice. It's a pretty basic request, and my cocktail game would be eternally grateful. What's the point of having a suggestion box if you don't take the suggestions seriously? Third gripe, and this is a biggie. There is literally NO WAY to get to the store if you are wheelchair-bound (or pushing a stroller or privately-owned grocery cart) without walking into traffic. Yes, traffic. REAL traffic. Like, into the driveway from which cars careen around the corner from 38th ave. Shocking, but there is NO wheelchair ramp to enter the parking lot from the sidewalk on 38th (the main entrance) there! You literally have to enter the driveway alongside all the swerving, speeding cars. Is that even legal? I'd be curious to know... P.S. King Soops, you should talk to the city of Wheat Ridge and see if you can get a pedestrian-triggered signal (or at the very least, a legit crosswalk) so that people can get across the street at Ames and 38th without having to risk their lives. Did you know that there is a Senior Center and a Physical Therapy Rehab place right at the top of that hill, and MANY MANY people try to cross the street there? It would be in your best interest to make that crossing as easy and safe as possible. Especially considering your lack of wheelchair accessibility. read more

So I live at 30th & Sheridan, which is smack in between the Kings on 38 & Sheridan and the one on 19th-ish & Sheridan. I choose this one because of these reasons: 1. Their deli displays the price of all meats and cheeses (other does not) 2. They have turn style plastic bag dealies at the self checkout. Agreed, their prices beat the pants off of Safeway. My wife bought a rotisserie chicken on sale for 50% off, but I noticed the sale price didn't go through when I looked at the receipt after I got home. I returned to the store and while Stephanie at the Customer Service desk agreed that a mistake had been made, she refused to refund the difference to a gift card. I admit that I stupidly didn't bring my wife's credit card with me, and normally I would have just shrugged, left, and written off the $3.50 (I'm really not a "review guy" - I think this is my first in at least a year). However, Stephanie's attitude was so poor that it's inspired me to write this after she clearly had no interest whatsoever in fixing the store's error. I realize that King Soopers is desperate for employees and probably can't afford to fire Stephanie no matter how rude and unhelpful she is, but maybe someone there will read this and at least keep her away from other customers because she's absolutely wretched. If you go there and see a dumpy hobgoblin lurking behind the Customer Service desk, I respectfully suggest you avoid her like I'm sure the majority of people who meet her in other places do. Also, maybe staff could wear masks, hmm? We're almost two years into this thing and I'm a little annoyed that I have to walk by an unmasked, coughing security guard to even enter the store. Hmm ok. I love this Soopers...BUT. I don't know why they don't carry everything other Soopers do. For instance, Evol Burritos and Fage Greek Yogurt. Both are weekly buys for me much like eggs and bread would be for some people. I don't get it because I can get these items at any other KS stores. The staff here are beyond friendly, friendlier than I have seen at other stores. The only other grocery store I'll think about going to in the area is Sunflower, but I think that KS overall has the same quality of produce at much more lower prices. And there is a gas station. I can't even lie. The layout of this store is BAFFLING. And that nice whole-store directory they post over every 4th or 5th aisle? It never has what you're looking for. Today, for instance, I wanted a gallon of apple juice. Juice was on the directory three times, canned, frozen, and refrigerated. A gallon of apple juice is none of these things. It's hilarious. That said, it's the best grocery in the area. Their prices are fantastic, their staff is helpful, the store is clean and well organized (if not well laid out, at least the product is lined up and displayed nicely). If you can't find a darned thing, there is generally someone to ask, and they are generally quite warm and helpful. When I need meat, I go to another market, but for pretty much everything else, I come here. read more
