I have tasted fried calamari from all types of Asian restaurants and the Five Spice Crispy Calamari was fried dough, soft and chewy, plus heavily salted. When i called they tried to explain to me what fried food was and proceed to tell me when fast food restaurants sell fast food it's not crispy. Which is completely wrong (popeyes, mcdonalds crispy chicken, kfc) and further proved my point how they messed up my order. She tried to explain to me how it was made but there is no reason that this meal should be marketed as a "golden brown crispy calamari" when it was pale tan and soft dough. It was basically a salted donut calamari. I told her to come pick it back up and send over fried rice instead because i dont want this. I'll update this post if they salvage this situation. Twice ordered via EatStreet.com and twice the restaurant never delivered (their driver). The first time, EatStreet emailed saying the order was getting ready, then 15 mins later they said they couldn't get in touch with the restaurant, so I was refunded. Second time, driver called when they got to my home, I said to leave on the porch and I'd get it in a bit. The order even said to leave on the porch. I have a Ring doorbell, saw the driver took the food and left. After calling back, driver said it was left on porch and hung up on me. Called back and wouldn't answer. Called store and they said driver said it was delivered- I said I have a Ring doorbell and the driver did not leave it. I see no food there and to send me a new order. Was hung up on. Then called back and they said a manager would call me. Manager said was delivered next door - said not my problem, and to send me a new order. Never came - had to contact Eat Street to refund me. NEVER ORDER HERE. Terrible customer service. Never even had a chance to EAT the food after ordering twice. Gave them two too many chances unfortunately. read more

If I could rate this ridiculous restaurant a -5 stars, I would. Sooo after working 12 hours, I just didn't have it in me to cook. I call King Taste at 9:45 pm...45 minutes before they close and place 2 entree orders and an appetizer which totalled $30...ouchhh..must be good right?! Lollll too optimistic. The food arrived ONE HOUR later from an Asian delivery guy who acted like he was hopped up on something. When he calls me ...he tells me "hurry up I'm in a rush." Waited in the lobby for ten minutes before he comes RUNNING up the walkway. Tip him $5. Upstairs I open the bag and to my dismay discover they have given me one entire wrong order of boneless pork with pork fried rice!!! WTH . I DONT EAT PORK!!! Call the next night around 9pm to complain about the mix-up..they attempt to brush me off and say next time it's free, but I interrupt and say no I'll place a small order so you send me what I paid for yesterday. OMG. I wish I could rate negative stars. Please don't order from here. I spent $40 on sushi and sashimi because it was close and the fish tasted OLD. NOT FRESH FISH and no flavor. The sashimi was mushy and the "crab" was that cheap imitation pollock stuff. I didn't know you could sell that as sashimi. The shrimp was thrown in the sashimi dinner and IT HAD A VEIN in it. The seaweed was tough on the rolls. The spicy salmon tasted like that salmon you get in a can. GROSS. I saw an article on NPR where restaurants were passing off pig anus as calamari... In any event, despite the pretty menu, it is just one of those storefronts trying to seem better than they are. I will always order from Bill & Harry's for Chinese and go to montclair to bamboo for Japanese. This place was ridics. They also sell chicken wings and French fries and offer a free can you of soda if you pay cash which is a sign that their food probably isn't that great. When it arrived it was okay not to cold. I order two appetizers & only one came. I can't read the receipt due to the fact that it's in Chinese but I am pretty sure they got my order completely wrong! Very sad actually. I called for delivery and an elderly man answered the phone. His phone was breaking up, he kept repeating my credit card number aloud over and over while saying "show me ya ID" until finally he was convinced he had it correctly. I gave up because I was taught to be patient and respect my elders. About 20 mins later a lady called "what's your CREDIT CARD #"? lol I verified she was with the restaurant and reluctantly gave it to her over the phone. She says make sure you show us your ID I then started to get a little aggravated. I told her look: it's CC policy all you need to see is the signature on the back, I don't have to show you anything. You're coming to my home. If I'm committing CC fraud I'm certainly NOT going to do it in my home! She says her name is Joyce and when she was in Hoboken she didn't have any disputes but has had 3 complaints in the last month alone at $30 a piece, now she needs to see everyone's ID. I conceded from hunger. We laughed and talked for a minute I could tell she was just scared. I asked her if my food was done? She said we're cooking now. WOW! Ok an hour had passed. We hang up after a 13 minute convo. We even decided to have a talk one day to help her with CC stuff that's my forte after all. Twenty more mins pass the phone rings it's Joyce "did you order miso soup?" I'm like NO I did not. She says ok, he says someone did... I'm trying to figure out who did, ok. I'm thinking 'stop letting grandpa answer the dayum phone haha' finally I get a phone call it is finally the delivery driver. "Food's here"! I say Buzz my bell I'll let you in. I wait,..... nothing. I call the number back. He starts screaming "I'm NOT coming in the building do you want the effing food our NOT"? Their website says they are open, but obviously their online delivery system does not work. Waste of time. NEVER ordering from them again. It's a shame since I was looking forward to Pad Thai. And as far as the "BOSTON roll" it was suppose to have shrimp avacado and mayo the didn't add the mayo and a few pieces are missing avacado I called the restaurant the manager said that they did indeed forget to put the mayo and asked me if I could just eat it with out . OMG! Went after a Memorial in Newark, and the Eggplant Shrimp with Garlic sauce was out of this world good! Shrimp was TENDER, & not over-cooked like most places. The sauce was spicy, with great Eggplant. Most Asian restaurants in this area don't serve this veggie. I will return and try other dishes. read more

Disappointed. I've spent over a hundred dollars within a two week timeframe and the service got worst. They short you on sauces for sushi and extras. The box for extras is no point as they don't give you any even when I add it the order comments. The delivery is getting longer and longer easily an hour and as I write this now, I placed my order at 657 and it is now 824 and has not arrive mind you the place is 7 mins away. I've ordered delivery from this place many times. Each time thinking that maybe they'll get better. Yes the sushi is cheap but there are other places in the same area to order from that are the same quality and price. Every time I order online they say 30-45 min and I know in reality with all places that you order from delivery add approximately 20 min... This place took an 1.5 hours. On top of that when they call you to state they are here they are still 10 minutes away so you are standing there waiting for them and you could have just gone out and picked up the food themselves. My last order I had to call the store in order to remind them I'm still waiting which was after the 1 hour mark. The last driver I had stated she was new but all the drivers have done the same thing whether new or old. I can't say what it's like to eat at that place or to pick up from there but they've definitely lost my business.
